Case Study Application: L.B. Jensen Middle School 1. What is meant by the following terms: adequacy, equality, equitable, human capital, quality?
Within the case study, all of the terms mentioned seem to directly apply to the student population, and what a school should be offering them. Also, is describes the qualities the leaderships members need to keep in mind. Everything is to be done for the betterment of the students, and these terms are there to justify that thought. Budgeting should be done with thoughts of the students at hand. All students are to be offered an equal, quality and fair opportunity at an education and these terms correlate with that. The bottom line to think about is that our students are an investment when it comes to budgeting and they need to be valued and that their best interest are at heart. This will help to determine what curriculum to purchase, which teachers to hire, what partnerships to make. All of this will be a part of the budget, but at the same time determine equality is being provided to the students. 2. How is the theoretical concept, “education must be viewed as an investment in human capital,” realized in your community? Provide concrete examples.
Within my community, students are valued more than they will ever know. Recent examples to show this is true, is that recently our district has made partnerships that will increase the value of our students when they graduate.
Our district is an online one with a brick and mortar sponsor. With that being said, we have offices all over the state of Ohio. Our main office has perks to where the students could attend vocational trades and what not. This past month, our local office, was eligible to make a connection with the local school district so that our students could gain insight from the vocational tracks they offer. Yes, our district will pay the

Enrollment Management: a Proposed Solution

...1 Portfolio Assignment - Week 8 Robin Rockey Management of Organizational Behavior Colorado State University-Global Campus Dr. Linda Klonsky March 4, 2012 2 Portfolio Assignment - Week 8 Introduction The concept of enrollment management emerged in the 1970s and has developed into a strategic way of recruiting, retaining and graduating students. Rather than taking a “shotgun” approach with “get as many as you can” results, enrollment management strives to proactively plan for long-term enrollment and retention. It is a data-informed process that aligns an institutions’s fiscal and academic resources within its ever-changing environment to accomplish the institution’s mission and ensure long-term enrollment success and fiscal health. “‘Numbers,’ say the finance staff, ‘Quality,’ cry the faculty. And the admissions officers find themselves trying to do their job faced with variables over which they have no control.” (Swann, Henderson & AACRAO, p.71). Data must be the key. Says Kurz (2003, p. 39), “Without data, it is easy to try to do too much in too many places, resulting in a diluted effort that produces little by way of significant results”. An enrollment management structure consistently includes the core offices of admissions, registration and financial aid but in some situations, it may also include retention, orientation, counseling, first year experience and other offices that directly relate to student success. The combination of these offices under the umbrella of...
