Not much was known about Astatine. She was the girl everybody seemed to be aware of but not actually have any idea on who she was. She was an enigma. All that was known about her was basic information that couldn’t be swept under the rug and hidden away. She’s the head of the Halogen dorm, the eighty-fifth one to be exact. She was also studying in the medical field and from what they have heard, she was the best of the best. Many had dubbed her as a Prodigy- a rare case. But no matter how special she seemed to be, there was still rumours.
According to some, she had an explosive temper and often didn’t mix well with others. That’s why a majority of people tended to avoid her, except one. Bromine was the only one in the University who had bothered …show more content…
The redheaded young man clinged to the older girl's side, to which she had resented at first. But after a week of persistence coming from the ginger’s end, she finally gave in and let him in. Ever since then, they were as close as Astatine let them be, which in her opinion, was pretty close. They couldn’t deny the fact that they were a pretty odd pair. Ever since the beginning of his second year, he was starting to become sick and more weak, which made everyone he knew concerned about him, especially Astatine. By the middle of the year it was made known that Bromine had cancer. Nobody knew what type of cancer it was considering it was very rare and there hasn’t been a case like his in over a decade. But even if he was slowly dieing, without a string of hope to cling on to, his brown eyes still held the same light in them as they did when he first came to the University.
Once Astatine was made aware of her only friend’s condition, she started to increase her workload, trying to find a potential way to cure the disease that was traveling through the ginger’s body. She wanted to save him, correction, she needed to save him. So over the course of the year she started to experiment a bit, with what, nobody was really sure. She started to enlist in her professors for help, to see what information they could provide her with. They all deemed her as crazy as a fool but even so, they couldn’t help but admit that she had a good
