Athletic Training has become my new found love. From filling up coolers, to being on the sidelines for every football game. Yes, I get called a “water girl”, but I do so much more. I get to tape wrists and ankles before games. I get to assist the head athletic trainer on the field when an injury occurs.
Finding this was a light and a blessing to life. I never thought I would find something that would make me so happy to wake up everyday. I was lost before finding this. Everyday I watched my friends find and do what they love, yet i couldn’t find it yet. Then at a football game I watched as the student athletic trainers at the time, and realized that I wanted to do it. The first time I stepped onto the practice field, was the day I realized …show more content…
I got to be the head trainer while she was gone. After 10 minutes had gone by since she left, a football player had slipped and fell on his thumb. I then had to call and evaluate him myself. It ended up that he tore his UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) in his thumb. It was an amazing experience getting to see and feel what I will hopefully be pursuing my career in.
My all time favorite thing about athletic training would be either getting to be on the field or evaluating and taping the players up.. I absolutely love watching football, so being on the sidelines is a huge plus. Yet I love getting to learn to ways to tape the players and get to help them get better. I love helping people and I love football, and this is the perfect combination for me. Some of the harder things about being an athletic trainer is that I get looked down upon or over looked. I am not appreciated for what I do everyday . On a daily basis, I am always thinking of ways to better how I do things so it will benefit the team. Yet someone finds a way to bring me down. Some days I am not good enough or I haven’t done something right. The love I have for doing this makes all of the hate disappear. Also holding a caddy that has full water bottles in it for three or more hours can be a challenge. The outcome though is what pushes me

Essay On Athletic Training

...An Athletic Trainer is the combination of two things that I love, helping people and playing sports. Helping others is something that I've learned from my parents. I mainly do it from the kindness of my heart. Putting others before myself I guess you could say. I also enjoy athletics. Athletes tend to have games and may suffer from concussions, torn ACL’s, even broken or fractured bones. Being a physical person, I like to interact with others. It can either be a group assignment or being on defense in a one-on-one game of basketball. Having two Aunts who work in this profession has really drawn me to this career. One of my aunts is in her early forties & the other one being in her fifties. Athletic training has existed since the 1950’s and is an extraordinary career to go into. The National Athletic Trainers Association, also known as the NATA was founded in nineteen-fifty (About). This association opened up many doors for those who...

The Importance of Rehabilitation from Sports Injury

...Injury to any person’s body results in a distressing interruption in life. Fortunately, because most peoples’ careers or errands do not require much use of the body, injured non-athletes can continue on with these activities before full recovery, depending on the seriousness of the damage done. When injury befalls on a sportsperson, the disruption experienced is amplified, as the person needs to fully recover both physically and mentally before participating again. Injury to any given athlete will cause many diverse effects psychologically, and the way the athlete views the injury is a significant determining factor in his or her ability to come back in full force. Unfortunately, the rate that the body recovers is not always simultaneous with the rate that the mind heals (Podlog & Eklund, 2007), so it is important to make sure restorative treatment is applied toward the mind during rehabilitation. The mental discomfort one experiences from injury is complex, as the person is being affected cognitively, emotionally and behaviorally. To make sure a rehabilitation program will fully heal the mind along with the body, the intricacy of the mental aspect needs special consideration. The rate at which the body recuperates and the amount of influence psychological properties affect that rate depend on if the injury is short term, moderate or severe. When the injury is more severe, more modifications potentially need to be made when returning to the sport which were not concerns before...

My Personal Philosophy

...younger. Every field of study has their own personal philosophy. The one I would like to live by and use to help me get through my career successfully, is the Athletic Trainer philosophy. According to nata.org, “Athletic trainers (ATs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.” An athletic trainer is mainly working around the sports scene, but there are some who also work with the military branches, government service, industrial setting, and a couple of TV shows like the biggest loser and wrestling. In my opinion the two significant questions a person should ask themselves about a particular career are why you want to be what you want to be and what excites me about that career. Coming into college I was a big sports type of guy. I played multiple sports in high school and enjoyed being around it. Also, I am a caring person so helping others is a big deal in my life and how I grew up. I was taught to always help others if you are capable of doing so. Being able to help someone and at the same time being around something I really love, sports, made me chose to be an athletic trainer. To me the most exciting part about being an athletic trainer is helping a person overcome an injury to get back to...

Com 101 Persuation

...Kyle Budde COM 101-002 Paper #1: Three Persuasion principles Netflix wins again One of the many avenues of persuasion comes from reciprocation when someone does or gives you something and then you feel a need to return the favor. I fell victim to this when I was a freshman in college. While in high school, my parents utilized a standard cable package with no need of buying any premium cable channels. This was the norm to me. However, as I was exposed to dorm life, I quickly realized that some of the shows on Netflix were actually very intriguing. My dorm roommate made an account and I found myself surfing through Netflix rather than flipping through channels. Everything was customized to him: because he watched Iron Man, the website suggested he watch Black Knight. There was no thinking involved, which impressed me. One night while doing homework I saw an ad for “Free Netflix for a month” I clicked on the bright red, flashing ad and signed up instantly to stream shows from my own Netflix account for free. However, in the last paragraph of the subscription sign up page, there was a paragraph describing how the company would start to charge me for the service after the first month. I told myself as I inputted my credit card information that I will not be paying for this and I will cancel within the month. As the free month rolled around, I only watched two movies, and I realized that it was time to cancel, as paying for a subscription would not be feasible since I hardly...
