Are Nuclear Devices Global Peacemakers or Killing Devices?

Right after World War 2, after two nuclear bombs were dropped in Japan by American Aircrafts, the war gradually and eventually ended. But with it began a new kind of war called the "Cold War". It is technically not war rather tension amongst nations. The two superpowers the Soviet Union and the United States were probably the most tensed nations. Some nations took side of the Soviet Union and some decided to stay neutral. The world has been in a peace state has been and a lot more stable since the cold war has begun. But can it stay that way?
Nuclear weapons are scary and deadly. We all know that. They can wipe out a whole city in just a fraction of a second and kill millions and millions of innocent people. Their radiation is long lasting and fatal which can be found up to several hundred miles away from the impact zone, and can last over for decades. They can cause changes in our genes which last several generations. In Japan you can still find disabled children and adolescents due to defect in their genes cause by nuclear radiation.
Well, now technically speaking nuclear weapons are killing devices, but it’s indeed wrong to say that since the invention of it, we haven’t had global peace. Actually, right after the bombing and the massacre, we have realized how terrible the consequences can it be. It’s that sudden realization that is keeping the peace. Deadly weapons are designed to annihilate, but in the right hands they could mean something entirely different. Humans are the ones who destroy, cause destruction, not the weapons. Are nuclear weapons peace makers? Many feel like they are, but some people feel like they’re just another tension and headache, while others feel like they’re time bombs and the clock is ticking.

...2009 Atom Bomb Justified? War, death, and fire are the only smells around you. Hundreds of your allies are lying in a dead rotting heap. Enemies are blowing their selves up right in front of you, throwing their guts and scorched body parts all over. War isn’t a welcome sight in the eyes of people, but some had to live in it and survive. When the United States was at war with Japan, soldiers saw many things like what was described. Some even saw worse. I believe that dropping the two atomic bombs onto Japan was justified. Too many people were dying because of the war, the cost of the war was skyrocketing, and U.S soldiers were given the harshest and most unreasonable punishments by the Japanese. Some were beaten, some were forced to kill their own, and some were buried alive. Over all, the total number of people killed from both atomic bombs adds up to be about 240,000. Many people died instantly, some later died from radiation and burns or other wounds. It is indeed sad that 240,000 people had to die but, compared to how many would’ve died if the war continued, 240,000 is nothing. It is estimated that if we just continued fighting the war and didn’t drop the bombs, then another million or so people would’ve died. Other actions could’ve been taken like negotiation, but the fighting style of the Japanese spoke for itself. They would rather take a grenade strapped to their chest than be touched by an American. ...When reading the article on p.109, there is a component of the overall security objective, which deserves the most attention in the environments that were mentioned. That component is gun violence. “Gun violence has become a major concern in the nation, and churches are not immune.” Personally, I believe that security would be the component that is less pertinent for these particular environments during a vulnerability assessment. The reason I say this is because, if there was proper security at churches then the shootings, fires and bombs would not have happened. Relative to the security of the churches, some countermeasures or possible solutions for the shootings, incidences of arson, and bombings, would have to be cracking down on the security.
