ATTITUDES OF NATIONAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TOWARDS GAY LINGO

Sa panahon natin ngayon, tayo ay nabubuhay sa isang mundong sumusunod sa nakararami o sa uso. Sa pananamit, sa Buhok, sa Teknolohiya, sa Pagkaen, at marami pang iba. Ngunit isa sa pinaka tanyag at uso kung maituturing ay ang “Gay Lingo”, “Gay Language” o salitang bakla. Tulad ng karaniwang wika o linguahe, ito ay ginagamitan ng maraming paraan para mabuo, mapagyaman, at magamit sa ibat ibang paraan. Maraming nag sasabi na ginagamit ang “Gay Lingo” kapag nagtitipon ang mga Bakla o kapag napapalibutan sila ng mga tao para pagtakpan, itago, at para hindi maintindihan ng mga nakakarinig ang kanilang pinag uusapan.
In 1970s, The “Gay Lingo” is known as “Swardspeak”, a word attributed by Jose Javier Reyes to columnist and movie critic Nestor Torre. Reyes devoted on a book titled “Swardspeak: A Preliminary Study”. In the 70’s, no other term has replaced “swardspeak” in local usage but in the essay “Language, Sex and Insult: Notes on Garcia and Remoto’s The Gay Dict” by Ronald Baytan, stated that the word “sward” is too old fashioned and it’s improper to call the gay language in that word. That’s why he preferred the term “gay speak”.
In 2004, the first gay show on TV history, GMA-7’s Out, devoted a section of its show to gayspeak, threshing out a word like purita (meaning poor) and explaining its context to the largely entertained and “enlightened” audience. Such a section, of course, had its predecessor in Giovanni Calvo’s 80s show Katok Mga Misis where he taught the viewers one gay word after another. It was Calvo who also coined badaf (babae dafat or woman supposedly) and ma at pa (for the contracted malay ko at pakialam ko).

Ang “Gay lingo” ay maaaring gamitan ng mga tayutay (Figures of Speech), lagyan ng suffix at affix, o dugtungan pa ng salita ang bawat rootword para magkaroon ng karagdagang kahulugan ang pinag kabitan neto o di kaya’y hindi na ito madaragdagan ng kahulugan ngunit magbibigay na lamang ito ng kulay sa salita.
Halimbawa:
* Luz=Loss, Soriano=Sorry
Kung pagsasamahin ang dalawang salita, magdaragdag ng suffix na “ita” sa salitang “Luz” kaya ito ay magiging “Luzita” o “Lucita”, kaya ang kabuoang salita ay “Lucita Soriano” na ang ibig sabihin ay “Loss na, Sorry pa.”
Ang pagaaral na ito ay isasagawa para mapaglinaw sa mga mambabasa ang epekto ng “Gay Lingo” hindi lamang sa ating wika kundi sa mga taong nakakarinig at gumagamit neto. Ang pangunahing susuriin ay ang mga estudyante ng National University, ano nga ba ang maganda at masamang epekto ng Linguaheng ito sa kanilang sariling buhay at sa kanilang pagiging estudyante.Magkakaroon ng pagsisiyasat kung anong mas makakalamang sa dalawang partido (Sang-ayon, at Hindi Sang-ayon) sa “Gay Lingo”, gumagamit ba sila ng ganitong klaseng Linguahe o hindi, at Paano nila natutunan ang pagsasalita at paggamit nito.

Statement of the Problem:
Ang pangunahing Problema sa pagaaral na ito ay ang epekto ng “Gay Lingo” sa estudyante ng National University, at ang reaksyon at naging pagtugon nila sa paggamit ng nasasabing salita. Ang Pagaaral na ito ay susubukang lutasin at sagutin ang mga sumusunod na katanungan. 1. Ano ang malaking epekto ng “Gay Lingo” sa mga mag-aaral ng National University? 2. Nakatulong ba o Nakasama lang ang paggamit ng ganitong klaseng Linguahe? 3. Ano nga ba ang mas nakalalamang, ang mga sang-ayon o hindi sang-ayon sa paggamit nito? 4. Paano natuto o nadiskubre ng mag-aaral ang “Gay Lingo”? 5. Bakit ginagamit ang ganitong klaseng Linguahe? 6. Mas madalas na nga bang gamitin ang “Gay Lingo” kesa sa ating pangalawangwikang “Ingles”?

Hypothesis:
Using the foregoing research problem, the sample null hypothesis is as follow:
Based on the foregoing problems, the proponent will formulate the following null hypothesis:

1. Nagiging Mal-Edukadotignanangestudyanteng National University, kapagnapapadalasangpag-gamitnilang “Gay Lingo” at nagigingmasamarinangepektonitodahilnasasanayangestudyantenagamitinangnasasabingsalita at hindinanaeensayoangpagsasalitangwikang Filipino at Ingles. 2. Hindi nakakatulongangpag-gamitng gay lingo saatingpakikipagkomunikasyonsakapwataosapagkatito ay paralamangsakatuwaan. BinigyantayongsarilingLinguaheparagamitin at tangkilikin. Ang Gay Lingo ay hindimakakatulongsaedukasyon o sapag-aapplyngtrabaho, dahilito ay hindiparasamgaedukadongtao. 3. Mas nakararamianghindi sang-ayonsapaggamit “Gay Lingo” dahilito ay hindi ay hindinakakabutiparasaatingwika at maslamangparinanggustonggumamitngmatinongpagsasalitang Filipino. 4. MaaringnatutunanLinguahenaitosapamamagitanngpakikipag-usapsamgataonggumagamitnito, naaadaptnatinsaating environment anglinguahengito. Paminsan-minsan kaya natinitonagagamitdahilsapagsabaysausohanggangsanakakasanayannanatinangpaggamitnito, 5. Mas madali pa ring gamitinang universal language nating Ingles kumparasa “Gay Lingo”. Kagayangnasabi, Angnasasabingsalita ay paralamangsakasiyahan, at kapagkausapangmgakaibigan. Ang Ingles ay maituturingnapinakamahalaganglinguahe, ito ay nakakatulongsapag-aaral at mas epektibonggamitansapakikipagkomunikasyonhindilamangsaatingbansa, kundisabuongmundo.

Significance of the study

Ang kahalagahan ng pag-aaral na ito para malaman ang malaki at maliit na epekto ng “Gay Lingo” sa mga estudyante ng National University. Para malaman ng mga mambabasa ang Impluwensyang naidudulot ng pag-gamit, pakikinig at pagkokomunikasyon gamit ang nasasabing wika.
Para sa lahat ng Estudyante at Mamamayan, Importante ang Pag-aaral na ito dahil maipapakita nito ang nagiging epekto ng pag-sunod sa uso at pag-gaya sa mga nakikita at naririnig sa kapaligiran, at ang masama at mabuting naiidudulot nito sa mga estudyante. Dito rin makikita kung mas may alam na nga ba ang mamamayan sa “Gay Lingo” kesa sa mga mas importanteng wika kagaya ng Filipino at Ingles, at ang mga benepisyong nakukuha ng sang-katauhan kung bakit patuloy padin sa pagkalat at paggamit ng Linguaheng extra ordinaryo.
Para sa Idibidwal na Estudyante, Importante ang pag-aaral na ito dahil dito malalaman ang mga hinaing at saloobin ng isang indibidwal tungkol sa nasasabing wika. Dito din malalahad kung ano ang naidudulot ng paggamit ng linguaheng ito sa pag-aaral ng isang estudyante o sa buhay bilang isang indibidwal. Maipapakita din dito ang mga dahilan kung bakit nauuso at kung bakit gumagamit at nagsasalita ang isang estudyante ng isang Linguahe na hindi naman kinakailangan para sa pagaaral sa isang eskwelahan.
Ang wika ay nagbabago at napaka-makulay, tunay nga na ang sinasabing “Gay Lingo” ay hindi na mapipigilan ang pagsikat at pagkalat sa ano mang lugar o ano mang edad. Kung ang mga gumagamit neto ay mas magiging disiplinado, at ginagamit lamang ito sa tamang lugar at tamang oras mas magiging mabuting tignan at edukado ang mga estudyanteng nagsasalita neto, at hindi masasabing masamang impluwensya at maling gamitin ang Linguaheng ito.
Ang mga mananaliksik ay umaasa na ang pag-aaral na ito ay makakatulong na ipa-alala sa mga mambababasa na kahit ano pa mang dumating na ibat ibang klaseng Linguahe, dapat parin nating tangkilikin ang ating sariling wika. Walang masama ang paggamit ng ibang Linguahe at pagsunod sa uso, ang kailangan lang na tandaan ay dapat gamitin ang nasasabing linguahe sa nararapat na oras at panahon. At wag hahayaang maapekuhan neto ang karunungan at edukasyon na ating pinagaralan.

Scope and Limitation
Ang pag-aaral na ito ay para lamang sa hinaing, saloobin, at reaksyon ng mga estudyante ng National University sa “Gay Lingo” at kung anong epekto nito sa kani-kanilang mga buhay bilang isang indibidwal at bilang isang estudyante. Lahat ng mga estudyante mula unang Taon hangang Apat o Limang Taon sa nasasabing kurso sa National University. Ito ay magdadadawit ng 5 estudyante sa Business Course, Computer Science, Engineering, at Liberal Arts and Education. Magbibigay ng mga Survey Questionnaire na pasasagutan sa mga estudyanteng mapipili na naglalaman ng mga katanungan tungkol sa “Gay Lingo”.
Ang pagbibigay ng Questionnaire sa random na tao ay maaaring isa sa mga magiging limitasyon ng pagaaral na ito, dahil maaaring mabigyan ang mga taong hindi seryoso sa pagsagot sa nasasabing survey at maaring kalabasan ng hindi patas na na resulta. Ngunit, ang qustionnaire ay malaking tulong sa pagdaragdag ng impormasyon ukol sa nasasabing usapin sa “Gay Lingo”.
Ang pag-sasagawa ng survey method sa mga etudyante ng National University ay makakatulong para malaman ang mga saloobin ng mga estudyantye sa Linguaheng pinagaaralan at ang mga epekto nito sa kanilang mga sarili. Mailalahad din neto kung ano ang mas nakakalamang sa dalawang partido, ang sang-ayon o hindi sang-ayon sa pag-gamit ng nasasabing Linguahe.
Ang magiging resulta ng gaganapin na survey ay ilalahad sa pamamagitan ng pag gamit ng “Pie Chart”. Dito malalaman kung ano ang mas lamang na pursyento sa bawat katanungang ibibigay sa mga estudyante.
Base sa mga magiging kondisyon, ang mga matutuklasan sa pag-aaral ay maglalarawan sa mga hinaing at saloobin ng mga estudyante ng National University sa “Gay Lingo” sa taong ito, 2013. Ang resulta at konklusyon ay pawa’ng katotohanan lamang, ayon sa isinagawang pag-aaral ng aming grupo sa panahong ito. Bagamat, ang mga resulta ay maaring gawing batayan para sa iba pang pag-aaral at mga gagawin pang pag-aaaral. Maaari ding gamitin ang paraang ginamit ng aming grupo para sa iba pang pagaaral tungkol sa makabagong Linguahe.
