Authorship of Genesis The book of Genesis forms narrative records of historical events from the beginnings of the Heavens and Earth. The detailed image on how God created the Earth from the sea, land, animals, mankind, family, society, and civilization. With the aspect of sin and redemption to create a relationship with God. All things created in God’s own image, the Book of Genesis tells us how it all started. The word “Genesis” can mean “birth”, “genealogy,” or “history of origin” depending on which context is being used. Documents that were passed on from one generation to the next place together the Book of Genesis; which is believed to be a collection of written stories that were edited by Moses. There is a large amount of evidence that the author or compiler of the Book of Genesis was Moses. God created everyone for a purpose. When he created Moses he did so for the sole purpose of his own task. Moses was well qualified to write and edit scriptures in the Bible. (2 Timothy 3:15-17) When the time came, Moses had all the necessary experience and training needed to compile the book of Genesis. His training began from childhood. When Moses was born into Hebrew slaves in Egypt. Pharaoh was afraid of them because he thought they might take over his kingdom.
