Natalie Nelson was born a writer. But before she wrote, she loved to read. She was almost always reading, or being read to. She loved to be read to by her father. But then her father died in a car accident. She wanted to remember him somehow, and that was by writing. As Natalie enters the 6th grade, she writes a book, thinking to turn it in for extra credit. But her friend, Zoe Reisman, thinks it's too good for that. So with a little help from her teacher, a few hundred dollars, a publisher, and a pen name, Zoe and Natalie hatch out a plan to get her book published. There's just one catch. The publisher is Natalie's mom. And her mom has no idea that the book was written by her own daughter. And let's hope she doesn't find out.
