Title: Do different soda drinks have different amount of acid? What color they will change into?
Goal: Nowadays we have a lot of varieties of soda drinks. The first soda drinks appeared in Western world in 17 century and it was just a mixture of lemon juicy, water and honey. So they were healthier than harmful. But the world has involved and manufactures began adding more preservatives. Nowadays are not many people aware that soda drinks very acidic. Our goal is to determine which drink is not so harmful for our health. To do that, we have to use titration using pH scale.
Hypothesis: I think that Coca-Cola is going to be more acidic than Fanta, because Coca-Cola contains more preservatives than Fanta.
Materials:
* Buret * Ring stand * Buret clamp * Water H2O * Pipet bulb * Beakers * Small funnel * Sheet of white paper * Sodium hydroxide NaOh * Phenolphthalein * Coca-Cola * Fanta
Diagram:
Method: 1. Prepare all equipment’s and be ready to start your experiment. 2. I took 50 ml of coca- cola and 50 ml of water H2O. 3. Mix coca- cola with water (it must became lighter). 4. Then mix with Sodium hydroxide NaOh 30 ml of it. 5. After you mix with Sodium hydroxide NaOh and add phenolphthalein after a certain amount of drops it will change the colour. 6. Do the same method with Fanta. 7. Construct the result table and fill the result. 8. Do the calculation and graph Result: Drinks | ml | Average | Concentration | Fanta | 1. 4.6 2. 5.3 3. 5.9 4. 6.7 | 7.7 ml | 5.2 | Coca- cola | 1. 4.3 2. 5.6 3. 4.9 4. 6.6 5. 7.3 | 5.7ml | 1 |
Calculating:
Average:
Fanta- (4.6+5.3+5.9+6.7) / 5= 7.7 ml
Coca- cola- (4.3+5.6+4.9+6.6+7.3) / 5=5.7 ml
Concentration:
Formula: M1 * V1 = M2* V2
