I agree with Kyle Wien opinion in the article “I Won't Hire People Who Use Poor Grammar. Here's Why.” Employers should require their employees to have great grammar. I would not want someone who uses poor grammar to work for me either because “Good grammar makes good business sense.” Employees represent the employer, and if the employees have bad grammar, people will assume the employer also uses bad grammar, which will make the employer seem unprofessional. “Good grammar is credibility;” therefore I think journalist and writers should have their grammar skills tested because they are expected to publish creditable information, and once something is on the Internet it cannot be removed. Using bad grammar can also make someone seem uneducated,

Detour for Emmy

...Explanation of Title Is the title of the book “Detour for Emmy” a good or bad title? Why or why not? On my perspective the title “Detour for Emmy” is good title for this amazing book. The reason being is because everything Emmy goes threw is like a detour for her from start to ending. Emmy went threw a lot from being a regular teenager to being a mother at teenager years. Emmy had to change her goals and her dreams because of on little mistake that happened. But that didn’t stop Emmy from being the best she could be. She continued her life but down another path because she had another life to take care of besides her own. Being a single parent for Emmy was hard because she didn’t have Art there to help her or be there for Rosie. This was another big detour for Emmy because she thought that Art would’ve been a little bit more of a father and help to Rosie and her but he wasn’t. Everything to Emmy was a big disappointment to her in her life but she would just take another turn to make things better for her. Life for Emmy was full decisions to make either she took one path or she took another. Usually one was the difficult path because she either had to give something up she didn’t have the help. She would always have to take the path she knew would be easier for her and would help her with Rosie. “Detour for Emmy” was a very good title for this book as I explained the things Emmy had to go threw and the detours she had to make because of a little mistake that happened...

...Should youth 11 years old and younger be exposed to competition, i,e, scoring? Competition can be good for children. It can help children develop healthy attitudes about winning and losing. Children are not born with the natural urge to compete. This is a learned skill and behavior. Competition usually starts at about five years old. Competition can encourage growth and push a child to excel. Competition can also be very rough for a young child. There must always be a winner and a loser, but young children sometimes just can’t deal with losing. The question is, can a young child handle defeat and at what point do you no how much a child can take? Losing is a serious business, especially for a child who really wants to win. Winning, losing, or playing against others has little or no meaning for children under the age of seven. They are more concerned about the rules of the game and how the games are played. They often break the rules, because they can’t remember .By the age of eight, children can follow rules and understand what it really means to win or lose. In 2001, a survey was conducted by Sports Illustrated for kids. The survey found that seventy percent of children quit organized sports by the tender age of thirteen. They said that they were no longer having fun. Often this happens because referees, coaches, and parents are continued more caught up in the competition than the children. The focus should not primarily be on winning or...

Globalization

...Globalization in Business Donovan Chase PHL/320 12/22/2014 Bridget Peaco Globalization in Business Is globalization good or bad for your business? (1, premise) Globalization is viewed as either good or bad depending on your particular situation. For example, if you are an emerging growth industry, globalization represents a significant opportunity to access broader geographic markets, to accelerate growth and expand your business. (1, conclusion) However, if your business is an industry that has imploded due to the onslaught of global competition, or you have suffered a job loss due to downsizing or outsourcing you probably have a very negative view on globalization being good for business. Is Globalization “Good” Before we can decide what is good we need to have a definition of “good” as it relates to our topic. According to "Merriam Webster" (2014), Good is defined as something that is right or good. Something that has economic utility or satisfies an economic want. An example of good in the way we are defining it is the difference between good and bad. I personally feel that globalization is not good for the business of America. (2, premises) Globalization takes jobs away from people in the United States which raises the unemployment rate. (2, conclusion) Therefore, negatively impacting our economy. Workers can often be forced into accepting worsening...

Ethics

...What does Kant mean by "good without qualification"? Obviously people try to seek and avoid many different sorts of things; those things which they seek they call "good," while those they try to avoid, they call "bad". These "goods" which people seek may be divided into those which are sought as means to some further end and those which they seek as good as ends in themselves. Obviously some things may be "good" as means to one end and "bad" as means to some other end. Different persons, motivated by different ends, will thus find different things "good" and "bad" (relative to their different ends). More food is "good" to a starving man, but it is "bad" to one overweight. In order for something to be good "without qualification" it must not be merely "good" as means to one end but "bad" as means to some other end. It must be sought as good totally independently of serving as a means to something else; it must be "good in-itself." Furthermore, while one thing may be good as means relative to a particular end, that "end" becomes a "means" relative to some other "end". So a college diploma may be sought as "good" as a means for the end of a higher-paying job. And a higher-paying job may be "good" as a means to increased financial security; and increased financial security may be "good" as a means to obtaining the necessities of life as well as a few of its luxuries. However, if we seek A only for the sake of B, and B only for the sake of C, etc., then there is never a justification...

Process Analysis Fishing

... Are you looking to buy a fishing rod? Here are 10 steps to make the process as simple as possible. 1. What type of fishing do you expect to be doing? This will help guide your decision making. For instance, you may need a different rod depending on whether you're fishing for salmon, pike, or trout. Likewise, sea fishing may also require a different rod. 2. How often do you anticipate you'll be using your new rod? If it's only for occasional use, your needs may differ greatly from someone who intends to fish quite often. 3. If you have a specific purpose you need the rod for, there may be better options for you than multi-use products. 4. Where do you intend to be located when fishing. A decision over the size of your rod will need to be made based on whether you'll be standing in the river, on the bank, on the side of a lake. 5. Fishing can be a long process and you may need to hold your rod for a long time without anything happening. As such, it's important you get a rod that is comfortable. Weight and size will be important factors. 6. Size and weight choices also boil down to preferences. Some anglers like them heavier, others lighter. If you're new to fishing it might be a good idea to try a few out in-store. 7. If you already have a rod and your new purchase is going to be for a specific purpose, then you need to ensure your reels are compatible. Otherwise, you may need to spend a little more. 8. Do a little research on the brands you like and don't like. Reviews...

They are bodily goods, which include a healthy lifestyle, external goods, which are money, food, shelter and clothes. Bad Practices

...Bad Practices I wish I could say yes to this question. The sad truth is that I don’t have a big choice of retailers for the amount of money that I make. Sadly, one of the biggest retailers that I shop at is Walmart. From the lesson presentation, I was completely horrified at how much of the products that are produced for Walmart come from sweat shops. Of course I would love to be able to say I will not shop at Walmart again, but there are no alternatives that provide the pricing that is provided there. I think however, it would be beneficial for the companies to have accountability for their overseas factories. I know this would inevitably drive up the prices of the products being produced, but at least the people who are creating these goods would not have to deal with the harsh conditions of these plants. There are some products that I don’t buy from Walmart, such as jeans, because I can purchase them at a local retailer for a couple of dollars more. This particular company gets their merchandise from within the United States and the working conditions of those plants are safe and the people are not over worked. So, in a way I have already begun to switch my shopping locations. True, I just can’t get away from Walmart, but I am trying to be more conscience of what I buy and I really try to do as much research as I can on a given company. I have to mention that Walmart is not the only company that goes about getting their goods from overseas sweat shops though. I used...

Do You Think Attitudes Influence Job Performance?

... The attitude of the employee affects job performance. When employees arrive at work, they bring with them their moods, their emotions, their opinions and their problems at home or with life in general. Since employees may have the need to cooperate with each other to get the work done, their attitude will have great influence on productivity, their relationships with each other and productivity on the job. It is like when an employee has a good attitude about a job, the whole chore just flows so easily leading them to think that the work is so smooth, easy and hassle free; which at the end of the day eventually holds a huge positive impact on their performance at the workplace. But, here is the opposite scenario, when an employee has a bad attitude about a job, he or she will realize either incidentally or coincidentally everything about the work gets wrong, even the silly things which should not be a problem turns out to be huge mistakes. Now let’s go back to the core question WHAT IS AN ATTITUDE? The absolute basic meaning suggests that an attitude is a way of feeling either favorable or non favorable towards a person, thing work or situation. According to Peter Marr author of ‘psychology at work’ Attitudes are usually viewed as evaluative tendencies (favorable or unfavorable) towards a person ,thing, event or process. An attitude towards a particular object is thus a bias, predisposing a person towards evaluative responses that are positive or...
