...Checkpoint Week Two Incident 2-2: Bad Times at Quality Shoe I think that Mack’s approach to the problem seems like he is asking Ralph and the other 16 employees to come up with ideas so that he doesn’t have to worry about what could be done. He should be there at the meetings that Ralph and the other employees have so that he can answer any questions they may have. Also he could do some brainstorming with them to help come up with ideas too. It would be a great comfort to Ralph and the other employees knowing that Mack is there to help and answer any questions that might arise. It would give them moral support in a way that it would show them that Mack is really trying to help and not put his job off on Ralph. If it were me I would call the employees together and hold a meeting like Mack wants. The only difference is that I would attend the meeting so that I could give my own ideas and so that the employees could ask me questions. Together we could come up with ideas so that the company might see that they would not have to lay off people at that time. We could present the idea that there could be pay cuts or some procedures that the company does might be discontinued if they are not necessary. If Mack doesn’t think that any of the ideas that the group come up with are not of any use, then I believe I would cut production by seniority. Employees seem to go with that idea better than any because they understand that they were hired last and the...

...Should youth 11 years old and younger be exposed to competition, i,e, scoring? Competition can be good for children. It can help children develop healthy attitudes about winning and losing. Children are not born with the natural urge to compete. This is a learned skill and behavior. Competition usually starts at about five years old. Competition can encourage growth and push a child to excel. Competition can also be very rough for a young child. There must always be a winner and a loser, but young children sometimes just can’t deal with losing. The question is, can a young child handle defeat and at what point do you no how much a child can take? Losing is a serious business, especially for a child who really wants to win. Winning, losing, or playing against others has little or no meaning for children under the age of seven. They are more concerned about the rules of the game and how the games are played. They often break the rules, because they can’t remember .By the age of eight, children can follow rules and understand what it really means to win or lose. In 2001, a survey was conducted by Sports Illustrated for kids. The survey found that seventy percent of children quit organized sports by the tender age of thirteen. They said that they were no longer having fun. Often this happens because referees, coaches, and parents are continued more caught up in the competition than the children. The focus should not primarily be on winning or...

... The attitude of the employee affects job performance. When employees arrive at work, they bring with them their moods, their emotions, their opinions and their problems at home or with life in general. Since employees may have the need to cooperate with each other to get the work done, their attitude will have great influence on productivity, their relationships with each other and productivity on the job. It is like when an employee has a good attitude about a job, the whole chore just flows so easily leading them to think that the work is so smooth, easy and hassle free; which at the end of the day eventually holds a huge positive impact on their performance at the workplace. But, here is the opposite scenario, when an employee has a bad attitude about a job, he or she will realize either incidentally or coincidentally everything about the work gets wrong, even the silly things which should not be a problem turns out to be huge mistakes. Now let’s go back to the core question WHAT IS AN ATTITUDE? The absolute basic meaning suggests that an attitude is a way of feeling either favorable or non favorable towards a person, thing work or situation. According to Peter Marr author of ‘psychology at work’ Attitudes are usually viewed as evaluative tendencies (favorable or unfavorable) towards a person ,thing, event or process. An attitude towards a particular object is thus a bias, predisposing a person towards evaluative responses that are positive or...

...of nervousness. My stomach gets all tied up in knots. The problem with taking test is a feeling of not remembering. It gets uncomfortable every time I have to take a test whether I study or not. 2. What are your first memories of being in a testing situation? What were your feeling, and why? My first memory of being in a testing situation is in high school. It was finals and I needed to pass this one course to graduate. It was a course that I detested, and I was horrible at it. This course was Trigonometry. I am not good in math period, but this course was a requirement. I felt that I was going to fail the course, and it was going to be a setback. It was a depressing feeling. 3. What make a test “good” and “bad” from your perspective? What make a test good is knowing what kind of test it, what is covered and how much a percentage is geared toward that test. How do I know that the test is good is when the instructor lets you know what is going to be on the test. A test is good when much preparation and work goes into it. The format or the structure of the test also make it good. When I think of a bad test, it mean no preparation, no work or study when into taking the test. A bad test is a test that is not put together well. The organization is not good and the test is very confusing. It can be a bad test when the person taking the test is ill-prepared. 4. What factors contribute to your success or failure on a particular exam? Which...

... The goal of life is to strive for happiness. While striving for happiness, pleasure is just something that is included while attaining happiness. I totally agree with Aristotle because for me personally, if I just aim for pleasure for myself, my actions may bring misfortune upon others, be it eating certain types of foods that are very dangerous for people to attain, like The Deadliest Catch crabs for example. Not saying that I will stop eating crab, but if I, and everyone else in the world wanted crab all the time, many lives would be lost for our sake. Happiness isn’t gained from any one thing, but from a combination of things according to Aristotle. There are 5 main things that Aristotle states that we need to obtain happiness. They are bodily goods, which include a healthy lifestyle, external goods, which are money, food, shelter and clothes. Then there are psychological goods, these are friendships, family, and self-esteem. Luck, both good and bad luck, and habits, mainly good habits that has us make habits of making right choices and build good character. This brings me to my last point with why I agree with Aristotle. Yes I agree with Aristotle. From my own personal opinion, all the things that Aristotle stresses that we need to obtain happiness does in fact make my life...

...Technology making life better or worse Technology has made a big difference in our society such as communication, work, education, and entertainment in good and bad ways. Some people say that technology has made life better with the internet, cell phones and other devices. While others say technology has been making life worse because people are becoming lazy and replace their lives with technology every day. Technology surrounds almost everyone in modern society and it affects our lives in many ways. People argue that technology can be dangerous because Technology contains information that many would rather it not have. It influences minds in bad ways, and it allows people to share information, which they would otherwise not be able to attain it. Even if a person does not own a computer or have credit cards, there is information on a computer somewhere about everyone. The technology, which is beginning to be disrupted and hacked, it is affecting the minds of young people in ways that could be harmful. Technology helps us in many ways because it makes life easier but I think we should stop using technology for every task we do. Everywhere I go, I see technology used for the simplest things that anyone can do themselves. For example motion sensors to turn on and off lights and sensors for other similar objects, making everything voice activated, online shopping instead of walking to the store, reading books and doing homework online instead of paper and pencil, and soon...

...“Greasy Lake” – Story Analysis “Greasy Lake” was published in 1985 along with other stories from the author, T. Corahessan Boyle. The story is a gripping tale of three teen boys ‘living on the edge’, in which the author presents himself and his friends as a group of dangerous individuals. One would think that the narrator has truth in his words, but all events in the story point to the contrary. T. Corahessan Boyle, or T. C. Boyle for short, is an unreliable narrator. The truth of this story is not in the text, but in the underlying meanings and subliminal nuances. This hidden reality really helps the reader make a direct judgment of the characters. After reading between the lines, one quickly finds out who the characters are, but more importantly, who they are not. Every 19 year old boy wants to be tough. Reputation is everything to a teenager and toughness is the cornerstone of that reputation. Even though most boys at 19 are far from being truly tough, they sure do play the part. “Greasy Lake” outlines the adventure of three wanna’ be tough dudes. Throughout the story the author, also the narrator, leaves hints for the reader to help determine the characters background. He refers to them as ‘mistakes’ but after a while the reader realizes that the one sole mistake was the boys fronting to be tough in the first place. The second line of the story immediately triggers a judgment call for the reader. The narrator comes outright and says, “We were all dangerous characters...

...This can sometimes be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your outlook. At work, I’m viewed as a safety conscious, strict (by the book), well-organized, and technically proficient leader. These traits may seem likeable and widely accepted by most; however, that’s far from the truth. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Because of the ingrained culture of “Where there’s chaos there’s cash,” people at my current place of employment are often reluctant to change and therefore try their best not to conform to any form of it (necessary/unnecessary). “Where there’s chaos there’s cash,” simply put, means if the task(s) being performed is unorganized, then there’s a potential to make more money. My reputation have attracted people much like myself (safety conscious, organized, etc) to my team and deterred those that did not share the same values, morals, and work ethics. This works great for me at times because it lets me know that the individuals that chose to be a part of my team accept me for the person I am and what I stand for. This is evident in my daily dealings with them and the way they execute their assigned task(s). On the other hand, because of my reputation, I’m depicted as an outsider and often challenged. This also works well for me because it keeps away the individual(s) that’s unwilling to conform to my leadership style. Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company. -George...

...review the class are the two best way to help me to solve this problem, even though it will cost some free time. Firstly, I will explain that why I meet this problem. As an international student, study by second language is too difficult, I can not understand the class clearly. For example the chemistry class, there have huge vocabulary in that class which I don’t know. So I couldn’t understand the lecture and I got a bad grade on the exam. And other class also has this problem. So it bring me a lot of trouble, I can’t finish my homework and getting a bad grade. Secondly, the problem has two worst parts, and one of them is I can not finish the homework. First, if I can not finish the homework, I can not study the knowledge of this course clearly. For instance, the homework includes a lot of main points of the class. If I can’t finish the homework, I won’t pick up the main points. Second, if I can not finish the homework, I will have some negative feeling of this class. For example, if I can’t finish my homework, I feel this class is too hard to study and, to get a good grade. So I will dislike this class. Thirdly, the other worst part is I can not get a good grade. First, if I don’t get a good grade, my GPA will reduce some points. For example, if I get a D in a class, it will hurt my GPA deeply. Second, if can not get a good grade, may be I will not graduate on time. Such like, in the ESL program, if I can not get good grade, my GPA will not have 3.75. So I will not graduate...
