Baderman Island Resort Executive Summary
Baderman Island is accepting design bids for its seasonal annual marketing campaign. Team B is asked to design the following: * An 11” x 14” poster designed for print delivered as an unflattened PSD file smaller than 10 MB. * A 300 x 300 pixel web advertisement delivered as an unflattened PSD file smaller than 10 MB and a flattened JPEG of no more than 200 KB. * The color scheme must be consistent with the color scheme established on the Baderman Island website. * Both the poster and web advertisements to include the Baderman Island logo, located in the banner at the top of the Baderman Island home page. * Designs to include at least three different examples of text to include:
The Baderman Island motto.
A new additional slogan created by Design Team B.
The company name Baderman Island, modified from text into a graphic.
In order for Team B to create these designs, it is beneficial for them to learn more about the Baderman Island Resort, such as the accommodations, amenities, and restaurants. The site also has a blog that could be useful in finding out what guests look for most when coming to visit Baderman Island Resort.
History
“Welcome to Baderman Island: where paradise is reality.” "Established in 2004, leisure and convention center focused Baderman Island is dedicated in providing unique and quality experiences to Island guests and daily visitors. The Board of Directors and operational leaders within the organization, require their staff to promote quality customer service with acts of kindness and specialty services. Baderman Island Resort was designed to provide guests with an encompassing experience, not ever having to leave the Island. Unrelenting customer service is the key in providing memorable experiences with luxury accommodations, oasis spa, botanical gardens, convention center, restaurants, art galleries, shops, and other recreational facilities, including a professionally designed golf course. Baderman Island provides price ranges for everyone and treats every guest to premium customer service, whether guests are staying at the resort or just visiting for the day" (Apollo Group, 2005). Baderman Island caters to couples seeking an all-inclusive romantic getaway.
"Surrounded by the shores of the Kelsey River, Baderman Island Resort is a self-contained, all-inclusive resort destination. The Island provides fine-dining restaurants, three exclusive hotels to meet everyone’s needs, and a never-ending list of activities to relax or entertain. Hotels featured on the Island include, The Main Hotel, The Tenney, and The Mackey Convention Center and Hotel. Day activities are available at the William C. Martin Botanical Gardens, Pepicello Fairways, Recreation Center, and Baderman Island Oasis Spa. The fantastic dining and shopping located in the Meredith Visitor Center is available throughout the island. Couples or families can spend the afternoon taking in the beautiful vistas that surround the Island, or visit the O'Dell Gallery of Fine Art located on the mezzanine level of The Tenney” (Apollo Group, 2005).
Project Plan Baderman Island is just off the coast of the City of Kelsey and surrounded by water. The colors are blues and grays in different shades unless you consider the different accommodation areas such as the Spa, Golf Courses, Botanical Gardens, Visitor Center, Convention Center, Art Gallery at the Tenney, and Recreation area. We discovered that a promotion for any given season should not be hard, but decided to promote the Christmas season. To keep in mind the motto, "A slice of Paradise" and the fact that the resort is a natural habitat for several species of butterflies close to extinction, we made a list of possible activities depending on the season in which to incorporate with the holiday season. * Tennis * Golf with a complete Pro Shop and attentiveness to Pro Golf instruction * Scuba Diving * Fishing * Hiking * Bicycling * Art Gallery at the Tenney * Botanical Gardens * Kids Putt Putt Golf * Horseback Riding through the Botanical Gardens on over 375 acres * Oasis Spa: Aromatherapy nail care, facial and body renewal, head and toe radiance, and rejuvenation in various ways. * The historic items around the island; including the Baderman Nuestadt Lighthouse. New Additional Slogan A. Come to a beautiful Island filled with fun, and forget all your worries at home, and come enjoy a paradise surrounded by beautiful waters... B. Enjoy Baderman Island; A paradise with something for everyone to do... C. Baderman Island; a beautiful paradise that awaits your arrival... An idea would be to make the company name from text to graphic; adding bold colors that bring out the name even bolder; with trees and ocean waves followed by a bright yellow sun. As Team B progresses with choosing the best mottos and slogans, they continue to search for the right ad that will fit the selected designs chosen deciding what designs represent the future marketing campaign. Print Advertising and Web Advertising Ideas Print advertising examples that look compelling, might be a good place for Team B to start. Christine likes an image of a person relaxing, being pampered with smaller images of other amenities available at the resort. She also likes the “unplug & recharge” slogan. It’s unusual and a paradox (how do you “unplug” and also “recharge” at the same time?). A similar slogan would be one that might be considered. Christine also likes the “big picture” image of where the water meets the land. The thought was that maybe to come up with a long distance view of Baderman Island showing its size and beauty, using smaller images to show some of the amenities. For web advertising, Christine thinks we need something simple yet catchy that reflects the Baderman Island Resort image, one that compels viewers to follow the link to the website for more information. In the bigger area on the left, it could say something like “Thank you for the best vacation we’ve ever had.” A yellow circled area could have a photo of the spa on the island, and the right side could show Baderman’s logo.

Final Design Decisions In making the final decision for the Team B designs, providing the best representation of the Baderman Island Resort’s marketing needs is the final goal. They have decided to proceed with the Web Ad designed by Christine Nola and the poster designed by Betty Dunn. The colors used, were complimentary to the logo and the pictures made the setting an inviting way for an individual, couple, or family to have not only a good vacation full of recreational activities to keep them busy, but an inviting spa and oasis to relax and sooth the senses. Whether you want to get away for a nice vacation or to have a romantic getaway with your loved one, Baderman Island Resort seems to have it all. The ads that have been provided by Team B truly represent what a “Slice of Paradise” is all about. Conclusion Using Adobe Photoshop can provide an individual with the ability to perform magic when it comes to editing images. Whether you are using your own personal or royalty free images to build Web pages or create an advertisement for a corporation, Photoshop offers just the right tools to make an image resemble a work of art. It is amazing to find the differences that new technologies can make in something that was ordinary and change it to something extraordinary.

...Week 5 Team B Final Project Week 5 Team B Executive Summary In the beginning of the Baderman Island Resort project the team was getting accustom to each other and learning each other’s ability. The Baderman island resort is a place that the organization wanted to look as if it was paradise to appeal to its potential occupants. The message that they are trying to portray is that it is like paradise so the team’s mission is to make images on the poster look like paradise and that is what we will accomplish for the organization. By researching other organizations that are similar and in the same field gives the team more insight on how to achieve effective promotion and design. The images are what appeal most to people so we wanted to stick to the images and picking the right image is key in effective design, then the fonts are next on the list of importance and choosing the right font size, color, type and how much fonts to use is all carefully thought out as too much fonts and the wrong type of fonts can ruin the poster so the team decided to use just enough fonts to relay the message of the organization. The images that Baderman has for their website were great images and the team decided to use images from the site to give the design a feel of the resort and to familiarize the design by using the images was a technique used by similar resorts and seem to have had success so that is what the team’s main goal is. Once we were given our assignment our team was to come up...
