In the week before, Team A presented the information on Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc., also known as BIMS. Ballard Integrated Managed Services, as mentioned before, has gone through many ups and downs in its most recent recordings. The company has a Food Service division, a Hospitality Service division, and a Physical Plant Maintenance division. Surveys were handed out to employees in an effort to explore what is causing the negative changes within the company. The effort to hand out the surveys, presents the desire to use qualitative data research. However, in any business they would need to help present positive or negative finding to not only the internal sightings and outlooks but also external, to their consumers.
In the prior writing on the business of BIMS, Team A provided an overview. A description of the instrument used for data collection, the types of data collected, and a level of measurement used for the variables will be provided. The data will be coded and cleaned by eliminating any input errors. Barbara Tucker, the general manager of BIMS operations at the Douglas medical Center, through the method of collaborating surveys, had noticed that the turnover rate has increased from its yearly average ranging in the fifty- five percent to sixty percent, rising up to sixty- four percent, with rising complaints from the current staff members. Due to the increase of unsatisfied employees Barbara has decided to do a survey that will help her as well as the company to better understand why BMI has this problem. The following graph shows how the number of employees has decreased over the last several months. With entailing this information, there is an imperative need to figure out why there has been a decrease in the level of employee morale and it’s affect to the BIMS operations. Being that the data is showing some affects to the

...Ballard Integrated Managed Service QNT/351 - Quantitative Analysis for Business January 27, 2014 Ryan Wahlstrom The recommendations that should be suggested to Debbie are to not make the questions sounding as if they have already been answered. Debbie has some of the questions set up like they are correct not for an honest answer. The questions need to ask the employee for an honest answer. In questions one through ten Debbie has laid the questions out like they have already been answer when the questions have not been answered. The questions Debbie has chosen to put on the survey indicate that the employees already like their jobs, feel secure in their jobs, they feel the company communicates well, the company is easy to drive to, that all supervisors are treating the employees fairly, and the questions indicate that the employees are paid well and train for their jobs. Question eleven was a good question because it asked why the employee quite it did not state why the employee quite. Most all of the questions that were on the survey for the employees to answer were worded in a way that was very difficult to comprehend and answer accurately. This may have been the main reason as to why the reply rate on the survey came back so low. Also it was stated that there was a huge sum of employees that never turned in a completed survey so that their results could be tallied as well. This may have also been due to the way that the questions were worded on the survey...

...The initial survey effort led by Debbie Horner, HR manager of Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc. (BIMS), did not produce useful findings. The survey had several flaws that made the majority of the results questionable. Some items were biased. A few questions were worded awkwardly, likely affecting the response. Some of the information needed was not asked, further reducing the value of the effort. Additionally, the data entry typist and general office support person made a number of errors when keying the data into the spreadsheet, compounding the poor results. In hindsight, Debbie suggested that she should have pretested the sample instrument before issuing it to the workforce. Such a step would have likely revealed many of these problems. Further, to improve the 17.3% response rate, she should have taken different steps to encourage employee participation. Just inserting it into the payroll process did not inform employees sufficiently about the purpose and sponsor of the survey. Advance information to explain the need for gathering their views, as well as reassurances about confidentiality and anonymity, plus descriptions of how the information would be used are among the many steps that Debbie might have taken to increase the response rate. Knowing that Barbara Tucker, general manager of the BIMS operation at the Douglas Medical Center, and the rest of the top management team were disappointed in the findings, Debbie proposed that she create a second, improved...

Analyzing and Interpreting Data: Bims Week 5

...Analyzing and Interpreting Data: BIMS Week 5 QNT/351 November 1, 2015 Analyzing and Interpreting Data: BIMS Week 5 In the aforementioned survey that Ballard Integrated Managed Services created and conducted it was found to have lacked important material making the survey not as accommodating as it could have been. Ballard Integrated Managed Services had asked that recommendations be made about needed information on the survey that will help in the research of the increase of employee turnover. The previous survey covered elements of the proper training, ethics, and demographics but it likes a few more elements. First the survey was given to active employees and not to employees that were leaving the job. Another element of information that needs to be included is safety, such as do the employees feel like the work environment is safe. One more area that may be helpful information is to give the employee the opportunity to make a comment in a section set for additional comments that the survey may not include. For Ballard Integrated Managed Services to conduct a complete survey it is important the survey includes the information needed to acquire the results needed to help resolve the issues. When looking at the results from the exit interview, it is easy to see that the survey gave BIMS a better idea of why the member of the company was leaving, and not how the employee was feeling about his or her job. The questions were re-worded so not to be leading or easily misconstrued...

A change in the company has been taking place and trending towards many employees leaving for other employment opportunities. The turnover rate for BIMS is normally in the range of 55 to 60%, however, for the past few months it has increased to 64%. What is causing the turnover rate to increase and the moral across the organization to decrease? If management puts an emphasis on the employees and their training, will the turnover rate improve? Overview Barbra has noticed several other behaviors lately which appear to be a symptom of a deeper problem, but has been unable to determine the root cause of a climbing turnover rate and the overall decline in morale. In effort to discover the cause within the organization, a survey was administered. Unfortunately, the survey did not provide the results or guidance for management to lead the team in a direction that would change the culture of the organization or the way the employees at BIMS feel about their experiences at BIMS. If management continues to look only at the symptoms of the problem, the root cause will continue to exist and deteriorate the culture further.
