Ballet blanc was a time period when all the dancers wore white. For instance, ballet dancers would all look the same (height, weight, hair color, skin color, etc.) and they would wear soft romantic tutus that flowed down to their ankles. Their pointe shoes and tights were even white! The atmosphere that the ballet blanc created was not only sweet but soft. The lighting was soft and music was sweet. Some examples of ballet blanc would be the performance of La Sylphide, act two and Giselle.
I chose to watch and write about the video on Coppelia by the Royal Ballet. The performance took place on a stage in a theater. The lighting was darker, but where the two main dancers were on stage it was more lighted so you could see them more clearly. On the stage there were many props ranging from a table and chairs to life sized dolls and manikins in the background. Not only were there props, but the stage was decorated as if the setting was taking place in a basement or cellar. There is an overabundance of children today, that I have been around, that are just as bratty as the girl portraying the doll in this performance. Children will take advantage of anyone to get something they want or to get a good laugh out of a situation. This usually happens when there is no discipline in the house or neglect of attention to their children, which sadly enough, happens too much now a day. People are so consumed in their own lives that they forget or neglect to pay attention and care about their own children. Those children will then act out and think it is okay, like the girl in the performance. She thought it was the funniest thing to do that to the old man, but she did not stop to think how the old man would feel once he found out he did not do magic or his creation was a
