Barack Obama as President

...Barack Obama as President The name Barack Obama to some people brings joy as they think about the much needed change he promises to bring to our country, but to others it brings anger and disappointment because they feel he won’t be able to bring the change the country needs. To me and many others President Obama is a great leader and is growing into a greater one. He focuses on the issues our country has as a whole such as the economy, education and health care. I believe that Obama has a great plan for all of the issues at hand, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. When it comes to the economy President Obama inherited a terrible mess when he came into political office; a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit, two wars, rising unemployment and unprecedented crises in our banking system. The Obama Administration has worked overtime to address our immediate problems of rising unemployment, falling home prices and limping credit markets, while taking a longer view in laying a strong foundation for future economic growth that benefits all Americans. To get the economy back on track President Obama signed legislation to jumpstart our economy, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, less than a month after his inauguration. The plan will save or create 3.5 million new jobs, make critical investments in our infrastructure and give 95 percent of working Americans a tax cut. There are many people who are appreciative of what President Obama and his Administration are doing to...

Comparison: Obama Vs. Barack Obama

...The presidency of Barack Obama was a complete polar opposite of Donald Trump’s presidency. Some of the main differences were: the tensions between foreign nations, unemployment rates, the stability of our economy and taxation. While Obama held the presidency for two terms, he focused on rebuilding our economy from President Bush, reducing the unemployment rate, and universal healthcare. On the other hand, Donald Trump is focused on tax cuts for big corporations, building a wall between Mexico and America, refusing to allow travelers from middle eastern nations and “making America great again”. When Obama took office in 2008, George W. Bush was leaving. However, Bush did not set Obama up for much success. Obama was inaugurated on January 20th,...

Barack Obama Speech

...Obama’s Yes We Can Speech ________________________________________ January 8, 2008. I want to congratulate Senator Clinton on a hard-fought victory here in New Hampshire. A few weeks ago, no one imagined that we'd have accomplished what we did here tonight in New Hampshire. For most of this campaign, we were far behind, and we always knew our climb would be steep. But in record numbers, you came out and spoke up for change. And with your voices and your votes, you made it clear that at this moment - in this election - there is something happening in America. There is something happening when men and women in Des Moines and Davenport; in Lebanon and Concord come out in the snows of January to wait in lines that stretch block after block because they believe in what this country can be. There is something happening when Americans who are young in age and in spirit - who have never before participated in politics - turn out in numbers we've never seen because they know in their hearts that this time must be different. There is something happening when people vote not just for the party they belong to but the hopes they hold in common - that whether we are rich or poor; black or white; Latino or Asian; whether we hail from Iowa or New Hampshire, Nevada or South Carolina, we are ready to take this country in a fundamentally new direction. That is what's happening in America right now. Change is what's happening in America. You can be the new majority who can...

State of the Union (Barack Obama)

...President Barack Obama begins the speech with a purpose of putting a bid in for the 2012 presidential election. He starts off with the large success in halting the Taliban and the Iraq war. Following statements prove he has a strong sense of middle class awareness and the gradual rise. He then moves along to the stock market rising again for the first in a long time since its slow decline. President Barack Obama states that nearly four million jobs were lost in the six months before he took office; he has created 3.2 million jobs in the last 22 months. One of the things that President Barack Obama leans heavily on is the uproar and rise of the economy. Since he was put in office he has filled 3.2 out of the 4 million job deficit that he was elected into, last year American businesses created the most jobs since 2005. Making a 2 trillion dollar deficit cut and putting “wall street accountable and responsible for any further mistakes so a crisis like this never happens again”. With over one million jobs at stake and after a bailout for General Motors when they were near the verge of imminent collapse he has turned them around to be the largest automobile manufacturer once again. President Barack Obama believes in keeping American thriving with other American businesses such as, new manufacturing and American energy. It is no longer cost effective and as efficient as it used to be for foreign imported goods at the cost of our economy. President Barack Obama then talks about...

Barack Obama Leadership Styles

...Barack Obama The office of the American presidency is a multi-faceted occupation that requires many kinds of leadership styles. This hub briefly discusses some of the hats worn by American President Barack Obama over the past four years. Mostly the article focuses on three broad leadership styles including transformational-charismatic, cross-cultural, and contingency-situational leadership. Recently, I added the opinion polls to allow you to rate how you think President Obama has faired in these areas and overall. Please feel free to participate. Transformational-charismatic Before the election, President Barack Obama attracted the attention of American's and foreigners alike with a seemingly charismatic nature. A charismatic leader has an uncanny ability to draw others to his side and move them to accomplish a cause bigger than themselves. A charismatic approach is transformational if it invokes a permanent change in the people who embrace the leader's vision. During his first term, President Obama wooed at least some to his vision by showing the potential to make a huge difference in both domestic and foreign affairs Cross-Cultural-Global Leadership Under the Bush Administration, America's image lost much of its shine. This was mostly due to a unilateral, ethnocentirc foreign policy espoused by Bush and Cheney. While not taking America's safety needs for granted, President Obama formulated a more cross-cultural approach to the world, thinking not only...

Barack Obama: Back to School

...Barack Obama: Back to school On September 8, 2009 was Barack Obama visiting Wakefield High School. Barack Obama held a Speech “Back to school event” for the first day at school on national television. In this Speech he stressed the importance of education. He would spread a message across the country: do not give up, do not quit because: “you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country” (l.63-64). The rhetoric in this speech that Barack Obama held to all American pupils is a classic way of build-ing it up: The opening is first. Here Obama says hello and talks about the first day in the semester. Then the narrative, which is some background information. Here Barack Obama talks about his own experience as a pupil. After the narrative comes the argumentation. In the argumentation is all the main weight of the speech. He talks about obligation, the future for the students and so on. Then the ending is coming. Here Barack Obama concludes what he expects from all the students Barack Obama starts off by addressing the audience personally in the very first line, “Hello every-one – how's everybody doing today?” (l.1). He sets the scene and reaffirms his authority not just as the most powerful man in the world but, more importantly, as an equal. Jim Acosta, a reporter from CNN, pointed out that the president had once called the Islamic State a "jayvee team," and he asked why they couldn't just be taken out. The question seemed to anger Obama, and he replied by saying that he felt that he had already spent a lot of time answering that question and describing his strategy. Obama also added that the Islamic State is not considered a traditional military opponent. He stated that we cannot re-claim territory, and as long as our military is there, we can hold it.
