Loud Silence
The hammer made a heavy blow to his head and with that he fell back, landing with a great thud. It was now time to go, this had already gotten complicated enough.
Jonathan Davidson was a quiet high school student who spent his days with his head in books. He never truly had any one that he could call a friend, he found the other students superficial interests and personalities absolutely unbearable. To the point where he would rather never have “friends”, than conform to the distorted social structure that teenagers have a tendency to practice. Jonathan felt in a sense, he had developed a superiority complex. Though, at the same time he never really as if he was exceptional in any given topic.

“I think that Baudelaire was expressing how the poet has freedom.” He paused again. “Through poetry we are able to appreciate subtle and beautiful complexities of the world, while others may overlook such beauty of things without voices”. Jonathan had already read this book hundreds of times, the prospect of listening to others ideas of what Baudelaire meant was nothing short of dull. Though it was relieving that he could tune out for the better part of his philosophy lessons, as he had already covered most of the material. The bell rung with a piercing clang, and the shuffle of shoes filled the corridors soon after. Upon unlocking his locker, Jonathan noticed a grey skirt poking out from underneath the locker door. He peered out to see who this mystery girl was, standing none the less at his locker! “He-Hello” he squeaked reluctantly. The girl gave a cute smile before holding her hand out to shake. “Hey, I’m Naomi”. Jonathan slowly reached his hand out to shake hers, she had soft hands though a seemingly strong grip. Jonathan at this point racked his brain, attempting to work out where the hell this girl was from. “We have poetry together, if that’s what you wondering.” With that, she gave a giggle and gleefully strolled away. He browsed the selection and asked Bernie if any new books had been brought in, Jonathan’s love of second-hand books stemmed from the wider range of hard-to-obtain books that were at his disposal. Each book would tell a story in itself, he loved to imagine who had owned it before him and the kind of person they were. It gave him hope there are others out there just like him. THUD! Jonathan was brought to a halt as he walked square into some one, as he gathered himself looking up to see none other than Naomi. “S-sorry” he pathetically cheeped as he began to run away. Jonathan frankly didn’t want anything to do with Naomi, wanting to keep his promise of not associating with any one. Naomi promptly proceeded to follow him as he tried for a hasty escape, Jonathan shortly became out of breath. “You filthy deviant, I know what you’ve done you sick bastard”. Naomi had just turned into a completely different person. “What the hell are you talking about!!? Stop following me!” Naomi grabbed his armed abruptly and tugged him towards her. “You know what I’m talking about, those mice you kill for fun”. A sinking feeling flooded Jonathan’s body, how could – no! No one could know about this! Who the hell is she! Naomi looked Jonathan dead in the eye with a fierce look, as he slowly drifted closer to her. She moved towards Jonathan’s ear and whispered “Do what I say and you won’t get hurt.”
