Baxer And Leopold: Different Views On Non-Human Nature

In this week readings of Baxer and Leopold both have different views on non-human nature. In the reading by Baxter he states “every person should be free to do whatever he wishes in contexts where his actions do not interfere with the interest of other human” (Baxter, 2016). Baxer means that people should be able to make any decision that increase their satisfactions. He mentions “my criteria are oriented to people, not penguins” I believe people are more important to nature then penguins. Baxter says “I reject the proposition that we ought to respect the “the balance of nature” or to “preserve the environment” unless the reason for doing so, express or implied, the benefit of man.
