...Cosi “The Australian drama Cosi, and its themes, is a reflection of the characters’ immediate world, as well as the world at large. Explain this statement with reference to the text.” The Play Cosi, written by playwright Louis Nowra, is about members from a mental institution, who with the help of the protagonist Lewis are presenting an opera called ‘Cosi Fan Tutte.’ The opera tells the story of two officers, who pretend to leave for war to test the fidelity of their lovers. The themes of madness, attitude towards the mentally ill, transformations and growth and fidelity and love are portrayed through the conventions and techniques of symbolism, play within a play, setting and characters. Readers are positioned to respond to the immediate world and the world at large with complete madness, as it seems the world at large is a world apart from society. The play explores the theme of madness through the convention of setting. The idea of an inside world and outside world is shown through the symbolism and paranoia of society. The dark, derelict burnt out theatre is a metaphor for the world at large, and the drama that is enacted on its charred surface is a reflection of the larger dramas taking place outside. The outside world is noticed to have fear about the spread of communism, the mass casualties and the war crimes, for example the massacre of civilians, the torture of people and the rape. Readers respond to the absolute madness at times with confusion, as it’s hard...

...23 September 2015 Risks Worth Taking? A Reflection on the Effects of Memoirs The primary purpose of my research paper is to present a cross-section of the current conversations taking place around the way memoirs affect the writers who publish them. Based on my research, it appears that the effects tend to involve emotional and psychological consequences, as well as legal troubles in some instances. The discovery of this conversation helped me to refine my research topic into the question, “Do the benefits of publishing a memoir outweigh the risks of their effects for writers?” This research explores the positive and negative effects of memoirs on their writers to determine whether or not the risks are worth the rewards. Although writing a memoir can result in lawsuits and family discord, it more often proves to be therapeutic and can be the starting point of a nonfiction writer's career. What if I told you that memoirs are incredibly important to our society, because they document the human experience in such an honest way? Although they are valuable, they can also be risky. One key issue is that a memoir’s admissions risk causing major drama for writers, including legal trouble. In addition, they can be a catalyst for burning bridges with former employees. They can also potentially destroy long-term personal relationships. In this paper, I work to discover if it is worth all the drama to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. As I began my research...

...thriving revenues attributed to the provision of primarily inferior goods (goods that people generally buy more of when they have less disposable income), many sit-down restaurants, from casual to fine dining, have been desperate to survive the current catastrophe. For the most part, dining out is considered a luxury; unfortunately, luxuries have fallen dramatically on the priority lists of most personal and family expenditures in recent years. Restaurant owners are well-aware of this, and they have been doing whatever it takes to keep revenue losses to a minimum. Famous Dave’s BBQ chain of family restaurants is one company that has used innovation, authenticity, enthusiasm, and true grit to offer a service so unique, that it is practically fail-proof. Though various popular American restaurant chains, such as Chili’s, Texas Roadhouse, and The Golden Corral, as well as the hundreds of lower-scale BBQ shacks in the Midwest and down south are considered to be serious competitors, none of them offer a repertoire comparable to that of Famous Dave’s. Though the chain, like its competitors, has had to face recent economic obstacles, Famous Dave’s has made several strategic moves to continually bring new consumers in, and consistently keep loyal customers satisfied. With a strong emphasis on value,...

...Geog 140 10/27/2015 Group 11 Ethnic Restaurant I have been always want to try different Ethnic fooda, because I believe that trying different foods can always be a great advanture to me. To me, Korean food is very unique .But my expeience with Korean food was rare. So I Google lincoln’s best korean restaurant, and then I found Yami Korean Cuisine. It was like 15 minuntes drive distance from campus, which was not too bad. I have friend who recommend this place to me before, she said the Galbi Short Ribs are really good. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap, which is a bibimbap prepared in sizzing hot stone bowl. On the menu, it introduced that bibimbap is “steamed rice with beef, sauted mushroom, spinach, carrot, zucchini, bean sprouts, and onion. Topped with fried egg and served with hot pepper sauce. ”. I did not like the flavor of carrot so I asked a Dolsot Bibimbap without carrot in it. The dish got different colors from the vegetables and meat, which made it looked really nice. The waitress told me stird all the ingredients together, so it is basiclly like a korean mixed rice. The Dolsot, which is the hot stone pot, keeps cooking the rice even after the dish was served. I thought it was interesting and new to me. In Chinese food, we have the dishes called Xiang Guo, which is a hot pot has fire under it to keeps on cooking while serving. But in Korean food, they made the Dolsot very hot and use the heat from the pot itself to cook. So always be careful with it...

...Sell, sell, sell! Here's the scenario. You manage the marketing department at your company. Your company has developed a new product or service. Now, the company wants to market this new product or service. To do so, write a sales letter. In selecting the product or service for your company, choose a topic that interests you. This could be a topic that you're currently involved with at work. It could be a topic related to your major at college. Perhaps you'll want to write about a hobby (dog training, wood working, gardening, parasailing, etc.). Whatever topic you select, have fun and be creative. NOTE: All subsequent assignments in this class (your flier, letter of inquiry, memo, user manual, and report) will ask you to write about the same topic you have chosen for the sales letter. Therefore, pick a good topic for your sales letter--one that you enjoy, one that you can live with for a few months, one that lends itself to a how-to user manual, and one that is mature and appropriate for a college class. Why write about the same topic over and over? I'm asking you to practice a very common skill in technical writing called "single sourcing." In "single sourcing," tech writers use and reuse content in different communication channels. You're not required to stick with the same topic. If you want to change topics from assignment to assignment, go ahead. But, reusing the same topic (and graphics) could save you time throughout the semester. | Now that you know the objectives...
