...Running Head: UNIT THREE WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS Unit Three Written Assignments Erin Schmidt Professor Vega St. Joseph’s College of Maine Prepared on November 30, 2009 1. Of all the people using the health care system today, how important are social problems on the use of the health care system? Social problems including AIDS, drug abuse, violence, and teen pregnancy are very important when considering the economy of the United States Health Care System. Unprotected sexual contact and sharing dirty needles account for the majority of persons infected with AIDS. HIV and AIDS affect human capitol due to the increased mortality of this group. Bonnel (2000) notes that younger individuals are dying of this disease, which translates to a decreased taxable population and reduction in resources for public expenditures. Medications such as antiretrovirals are very expensive. Henderson (2002) points out that drug therapy costs up to $16,000 dollars per infected individual per year. Additional economic impact can be thought of in terms of lost productivity, and lost days from work, which account for a significant impact on the labor supply. With regard to substance abuse, Henderson (2002) states “substance abuse is the leading health problem in the United States today” (p. 310). Costs associated with substance abuse include increased costs of medical care, lost productivity from...

...FEES AND CHARGES FOR 2011 Web Page www.ru.ac.za/fees (1) GENERAL INFORMATION Liability for fees Liability for all fees begins as soon as completed application forms are submitted to the University and the student is accepted. The signing of the application form establishes the legal liability of the student and his/her other funder for the payment of all fees as determined by the Council. This can vary according to the student's circumstances. These fees are published in the annual Rhodes University Calendar, and are available on the WEB. In any discussions or negotiations about fees, it will be assumed that a student and his/her other funder have made themselves aware of the provisions of this section and of the equivalent fees schedule. While the University attempts to keep fees as low as possible, student fees usually increase annually by approximately 10% per annum. Ignorance of the fees payable does not provide grounds for avoiding liability for any fees due and payable. Alteration of fees The University Council reserves the right to alter all fees payable to the University, or to impose a fees surcharge if circumstances require it. In the case of an alteration of fees...

...and in March 2017, the county became the first community in the U.S. to end chronic homelessness (Maguire, 2017). The last PIT count for 2016 shows the county had ten chronically homeless individuals, but that number has since gone down (Sandor, 2017). The federal government defines ending chronic homelessness as when the number of chronically homeless individuals in a community is less than 0.1% of the community’s most recent PIT count or less than three people—whichever is larger (Sandor, 2017). Bergen County exceeded this definition and reached absolute zero for chronic homelessness in January 2017, which the county had to maintain for three months before the federal government confirmed it (Sandor, 2017). At the point of writing this paper (June 2017), Bergen County still has zero chronically homeless individuals (Sandor, 2017). In 2008, Bergen County published a ten-year plan to end chronic homelessness (County of Bergen, 2008). Starting in 2007, the county brought together public officials, community leaders, and representatives from the private sector to develop the plan that aligned with federal priorities (County of Bergen, 2008). The county also held public meetings for community members to provide input for the plan (County of Bergen, 2008). For the purposes of the published strategy, the county defines chronically homeless individuals as “unaccompanied adults with a disabling condition having four (4) or more episodes of homelessness within three (3) years or being...

...‘Consumer Banking of Standard Chartered Bank’ PREFACE On completion of requisite courses and a comprehensive examination of M.B.A of Chittagong University are required to undertake an internship program. In order to implement this program, each of them is attached with an organization. After the completion of internship program every student is required to prepare a report on a selected topic on the organization where he/she has been attached. The basic purpose of this attachment is to expose the student to the real Business world and acquaint himself/herself with the current operations & practices in modern Business. This exposure is very helpful in comprehending how things move on and to find the gap between theory and practical operation. This report also originates from that some perception about the practical situation as a fresh student. Actually this report comprises how a student has perceived the real situation in the business. As I am being attached with the Standard Chartered Bank, so I always tried of my best to observe how they deal with their Customer. I also studied about their working environment and how to process Credit and Collect outstanding. As a consequence, I have put theoretical glimpses of the key points wherever necessary and have tried to knit a relationship with this observation. Comments and suggestions for future development of the report or any concept will be appreciated. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY I here, who am a...

...Case 41 IKEA : Building a Cult Global Brand IKEA is a state of mind that revolves around contemporary design, low prices, wacky promotions and an enthusiasm that few institutions in or out of business can muster. Perhaps more than any other company in the world, IKEA has become a curator of people’s lifestyles, if not their lives. At a time when consumers face so many choices for everything they buy, IKEA provides a one-stop sanctuary for coolness. It is a trusted safe zone that people can enter and immediately be part of a like-minded cost/design/environmentally sensitive global tribe. If the Swedish retailer has its way, you too will live in a BoKlok home and sleep in a Leksvik bed under a Brunskära quilt. Beds are named after Norwegian cities; bedding after flowers and plants. IKEA wants to supply the food in your fridge, it also sells the fridge, and the soap in your shower. The IKEA concept has plenty of room to run: the retailer accounts for just 5 to 10 per cent of the furniture market in each country in which it operates. It is, however, a global phenomenon. That is because IKEA is far more than a furniture merchant. It sells a lifestyle that consumers around the world embrace as a signal that they—ve arrived, that they have good taste and recognize value. ‘If it wasn’t for IKEA,’ writes British design magazine Icon, ‘most people would have no access to affordable contemporary design.’ The magazine even voted IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad the most influential...
