Before You Go by James Preller is about a boy named Jude Fox. Jude lives the life of the average teen, except he endured a more difficult time. Jude's story is compelling and will give you an eye opening experience. Jude's summer is just beginning and it has a great start. He falls in love with the perfect girl. It's a perfect summer night with things going great, and in matters of seconds, his life changed forever. Before You Go is a wonderful book that will keep you reading because of the storyline, the theme of the book, and the mood of the story. The book contained an exceptional storyline. The beginning of the book gives a whole different vibe compared to the end of the book. There aren't many characters throughout the story, but every …show more content…
Their decisions are what caused some tragedies for Jude. Jude's attitude and feelings change dramatically because of the decisions that were chosen. “Gone, and yet she was everywhere.” (Preller,106). These few words describe so little but yet mean so much. Jude lost his sister when he has nine, and at that time it had to of been tragic for him. Jude felt that his sister’s death was on him, everyday he lived through the pain and sorrow. Jude had to carry that burden for the rest of his life. Avoiding some of those decisions could’ve changed the course of the story and some of the tragedies that occurred could've been avoided. I believe what created such a great storyline was the way the book switched tides. At one point you have your head wrapped around something that happened, and then it has you thinking again. I take the story personal, because multiple of people have come into my life and have changed my perspective about things. In a way, I related to Jude, because Jude stayed humble, and didn't blame anyone but himself for what has happened, and I have the same mindset. “Jude felt …show more content…
The mood is the type of emotion the character is experiencing. You can notice when the mood changed because of the way Jude expressed his feelings. For example, “nothing makes sense. “We could all be wiped out tomorrow, and the sun would still come up,” (Preller 154) In this quote you can examine how Jude feels at the moment. His best friends has just died and to him all hope is gone. Jude is experiencing a rough time and can’t help but to feel careless and without a care in the world. A feature like this is what kept me reading because the book didn't feel the same throughout the story. The changing of moods helps you understand how Jude felt in the story. This is important because Jude faces many harsh circumstances and his feelings and attitude change constantly throughout the story. I believe that changing the mood is important for the reader because reading the same plot over and over gets boring, and that is what makes the reader loss focus. The author did an amazing job changing up the mood to keep the reader

...Artificial Intelligence Center. However, other science departments may find it helpful. You are encouraged to share it with colleagues. 1 What is a term paper or thesis? In the Middle Ages, in order to be admitted to a trade guild, a craftsman had to demonstrate his ability by producing a piece of work, called his masterpiece, for examination by the officers of the guild. He was then granted the title of Master of his trade. When universities were founded, they immediately emulated this practice and began to grant the degrees of Master and Doctor to people who had proved their ability to do scholarly work. A thesis or dissertation today serves the same purpose as a medieval craftsman’s masterpiece. It is proof of ability to do a certain kind of work. Specifically: • To get a doctor’s degree, you must become familiar with current scientific knowledge of your subject, add to this knowledge by making an original discovery, and then report the results in a dissertation. 1 • To get a master’s degree, it is sufficient to make a new synthesis or application of knowledge already available, and report the results in a thesis. • To pass certain courses, you must write a term paper, which demonstrates that you can connect information and report it in your own words. It is not necessary to make a new discovery or a new synthesis. To get a degree from an English-speaking university, you must prove that you can write scholarly papers, in English, that reflect state-of-the-art knowledge of...

Later this afternoon he will receive an award for his service to the 99th. His farewell party is this evening at the NCO club. As you are setting up your things in your new desk, you discover some papers wedged between the wall and the side of the desk. You pull them out and discover that they are pages from a communication security book and marked “SECRET.” You attach a cover sheet to them and go into the security vault to talk to SSG Day. The Numbers - Book Report

...Book Report - The Number I’m glad that I had the opportunity to read the “Number” by Alex Berenson because it has provided me with a great deal of past information that I did not know about at all before and to understand how accounting works outside of the classroom as I have been taught all about the concepts in the accounting classes I have taken so far. I would have never thought of the past repeating itself in the financial market world, but as the book talks about, the Arthur Andersen scandal that gave the creation of new acts and regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley act shows that unscrupulous behavior has existed way before companies such as Enron and WorldCom made world headlines when it was revealed that they had overstated their earnings. These scandals cots investors billions of dollars and shattered the dreams of thousands of people and their confidence in the nation’s security markets. (Never was I aware of the past repeating itself in a revolving financial market. I was more or less aware of how Sarbanes-Oxley came about after the fall of Enron, and the Arthur Andersen major part in helping the top executives at Enron forge numbers to increase its earnings. There is a phrase they have on Wall Street. It’s called raising the bar. If you can raised the bar, or brighten the outlook for your company, if you can see your growth accelerating, your stock will go higher and you will be given the currency to expand, acquire, and do whatever you want” (pg. 178.)
