We become fixated on something to do with that stage. For example, if we become fixated on the first stage (oral) we gain an oral fixation, which may cause an individual to overeat, smoke, or in general have a childlike dependence on things and people.

According to Erikson I would be bordering on Identity VS Role Confusion and Intimacy VS Isolation because I’m just leaving Identity VS Role Confusion and entering Intimacy VS Isolation.
