This assessment directed us to assign a number, 1 through 7, to 16 different statements, indicating how much we agreed or disagreed with each statement. 1 indicating we strongly disagreed with the statement, up to 7, indicating we strongly agreed with the statement. The results of this activity will allow us to assess 4 aspects of our emotional intelligence, self-emotion, others emotion, use of emotion and regulation of emotion, provided we answered all statements truthfully. A total score of 28 is possible in each category. My scores of were 24, 19, 23, and 21, respectively, and I believe they reflect an accurate picture of what I myself have observed in regard to my emotional behavior.

I sometimes confuse anger and hurt, but for the most part I am a good judge of what I am feeling, when. In the second category, others emotions, my score was 19:

My response: I believe this score is misleading, in my case. It is not that I can't identify how others are feeling, because I can, when I pay attention. But as I have discussed in earlier writings, I tend to focus on work when I am at work, and not on my co-workers. So, when I am paying attention, I am very sensitive to others feelings, unfortunately, I don't always pay attention to anything but my work, so I don't always see things I should. Needs work.

In the third category, use of emotion, I scored a 23.
