Behavior Support Reflection Paper

I have to begin by saying that the behavior support plan provided a comprehensive explanation of some of the important variable that seemed to be affecting the child’s behavior, as well as providing a detailed picture of the target behaviors and their functions. However, I got to a point where I felt a little overwhelmed by the length and quantity of information provided in this document. For instance, although the definition of target behaviors seemed to be a concise and clear definitions, I felt that a behavior analyst should focus on one behavior at a time. Trying to replace behaviors, or developing new ones, requires of a behavior analyst who is actually able to record observations, apply procedures, and monitor the progress of the individual.

...perceive themselves. Antonio’s poem, “Bully in the Mirror”, displays the how agents of socialization influence one’s “looking glass self” and how the look glass self once realized impact “answerability” and one’s desire to change. When students such as Antonio began to seek change in who they, are educators must be prepared to support this change as bullying is an epidemic is schools and students should be aware of its impact in every aspect. Antonio is a child that has been a bully for quite some time. He has come to realize that he does not like the person that he has become and wants to change. Antonio is alone as he makes this clear that he has no friends. The looking glass self is basically how we view ourselves based on our reflection of personal qualities and impressions of how we believe others perceive us (Kenny, R., 2007). As theorized by Cooley socialization coincides with the looking glass self (self-image) which is developed by “the imagination of our appearance to the other person; the imagination of his judgment of that appearance, and some sort of self-feeling of pride or mortification" (1964:184)” (Kenny, R., 2007). Antonio, in his mirror reflection, has come to see that those around him don’t like who he is as a bully and no he is perceiving himself in the same way that others do which is why he is crying out for help in changing what he now sees in himself as well as...

...FAMIPOP Reflection Paper Name:_________________ Section:_________________ Date:____________ Reflection Paper Number:________ FAMIPOP Reflection Paper Name:_________________ Section:_________________ Date:____________ Reflection Paper Number:________ The topic my group chose for our research paper, and consequently our talk show, was the effects of parenting styles on the students’ perception of their academic performance. We chose this topic because, as students, we found how different students study in different styles interesting. We wanted to dive into the more specific details of these students study habits and work ethics. From studying early in the morning to reading various text books late at night, we though this could probably be caused by how they were raised and the environment they grew up in, especially regarding their parents’ treatment toward these students. Initially, we got major information we could use for our research during class. It was found that children behaved and grow up depending on how they were treated at home, after all, most of our lives start at home. Children with authoritarian parents, which entail parents who are very strict and implement rules just because they are the parent, tend to be rebellious and aggressive. Children with authoritative parents, or parents who stand in the center of strict control and leniency, tend to be obedient, responsible...

Ethics Reflection Paper

...Ethics Reflection Paper July 13, 2015 Professor Carlos Pineda Ethics Reflection Paper The purpose of this paper is to explain the role of ethics and social responsibility in developing a strategic plan, considering stakeholders needs. Included, in this paper will be a reflection on the author’s ethical perspective and how it has evolved. Ethics plays an essential role in both the business and social environment. Ethics reflects the morale beliefs and principles that demonstrate society’s opinion of an action performed by a group or individual that are considered right or wrong (Pearce & Robinson, 2013). Ethics and Social Responsibility Corporate Social responsibility is best defined by the concept that an organization has a commitment to serve society on an overall basis and to meet the financial interests of its stakeholders (Pearce & Robinson, 2013). A good practice would be to separate the needs of the inside and outside stakeholders as this would allow the organization to first determine the needs of each type of stakeholder and secondly meet their social responsibility. In order for an organization to have in a depth knowledge and range of social responsibilities that must be included in their strategic plan, the strategic managers must study the four types of social committee. The four types of social committee include: economic, legal, ethical and discretional social responsibilities (Pearce & Robinson, 2013). Economic responsibilities involves...

Life Styles Inventory (Lsi)

...GM591 PREPARATION GUIDE: LIFE STYLES INVENTORY(LSI) Introduction: Thinking and Behavior "The quest for leadership is first an inner quest to discover who you are” (p.391).[1] --Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner--- Self-awareness is foundational to effective leadership and organization success[2]. Research in leadership and organizational behavior indicates that managers who are blind to who they are, and to the effects they have on other people in their organizations, place their effectiveness and their careers at risk. A frequently cited axiom is "the first commandment of leadership is to know thyself." For example, in their studies of managerial and executive derailment, the Center for Creative Leadership found that successful managers: (1) understand their values, personal styles, and strengths and weaknesses; (2) know the impact of these values, styles, and strengths and weaknesses on their ability to effectively work with others and achieve their goals; and (3) are quick to reflect upon and learn from their own experiences. Despite these advantages, we often resist opportunities to increase our self-awareness or to acknowledge error. We fear that learning something new about ourselves will be painful -- doing so may require us to change our treasured and habitual ways of seeing, thinking, and behaving. Self-awareness is also an important barometer to ensure that even the best leadership practices don't become destructive. As Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner caution...

... a science and art that assists people to change lifestyle toward a state of optimal health (O’Donnell, 1997), to more complex as a process of advocating health to increase the chance that personal, private , and public support of positive health practices will become a societal norm” (Kreuter & Devore, 1980, p. 26). Despite the variances in definition health promotion is geared towards persuading public the benefits of a living a lifestyle free of negative health behaviors. The purpose of health promotion in nursing practice is to switch gears from protection of certain diseases to focus on improving the general health of the people they serve. Health promotion has changed the roles and responsibilities of nurses. Increasing demands are placed on nurses as healthcare has shifted from an acute, hospital-based care to preventive, community-based care. The home is now the primary place healthcare takes place. Reimbursement for hospital care is less resulting in shorter stays. Nurses must take on additional roles and play a bigger part of disease prevention and health promotion. A greater emphasis is being placed on nurses being more independent in their practice. Nurses are expected to be increasingly accountable morally and legally for their behavior. Nursing has evolved into many roles as advocates, care managers, consultants, delivery of services, educators, and healers. As advocates a nurses strives to ensure the patient receives the high quality, best care in a cost...

Also note that the Course Schedule shows additional individual deliverables that you may need to bring to class each week (such as the cognitive style self-assessment that you bring to class early in the semester). Since much of the class involves reflection on your own and others actions in the team and individual behaviors, students find it helpful to keep a weekly journal for notes on your own learning, your self-assessment of your role in the team, and key incidents in the team.
