...Master Thesis in Marketing STRONG BRANDS How Brand Strategy and Brand Communication Contribute to Build Brand Equity THE CASE OF NAVIGATOR Student: Daniela Yasenova Baeva Supervisor: Professor Doctor Arnaldo Fernandes Matos Coelho May, 2011 Master Thesis in Marketing STRONG BRANDS – How Brand Strategy and Brand Communication Contribute to Build Brand Equity: THE CASE OF NAVIGATOR 1 ABSTRACT In a world of global competition that we are living nowadays, brands are each time more used by companies as a strategy to create value and differentiation and this way to be one step ahead of their rivals. A "brand" is the result of the recognition and the personal attachment that forms in the hearts and minds of the customers through their accumulated experience with that “brand”. These experiences contribute to increased consumer trust and loyalty and allow building strong relationships with the “brand”. By this way, “brands” promote the increase of shareholder value and establish a long-term advantage in the marketplace for organisations. Companies recognise that strong brands are and have been historically associated with accelerated revenue growth and improved returns to shareholders. That is why, each time more organisations focus their strategies on building powerful brands as they represent competitive advantage and they are a key success factor in creating value to the customer and at the same time value to the company. In this regard, this study intends to show...

...Timeless Icon was a research paper about Clint Eastwood being timeless icon or Spurious Miscreant. In the beginning the author explains what movies he plaid that made him the best there was. Towards the middle of the paper is explains why he could be spurious miscreant. This is a well written research paper because of its well formatted and organized paragraphs. This paper also shows a great amount of organization within the paragraphs, proper APA citations and references, strong content, and good grammar and spelling. The paragraphs are on track with what they need to be and are very thorough. I would give this research paper for an A- because it’s a well written paper, it just needs some tweaks. It’s not a profession paper, it’s more of a “laid back” and persuasive paper. A well-organized paper should have a paragraph with one main point, not multiple. Each of these paragraphs explain one point. The introduction paragraph explained what the paragraph was going to be about, which in this case how timeless icons can change history. When the author wanted to use a long quote in the paper he did formatted to the proper way. The author changed the topic of the when he switched to talking about spurious miscreant, which he did the proper way and stayed on topic with the negatives towards him....

...When writing a research paper, there can be some challenges to overcome. My first thought is what challenge do I have and need to overcome in order to write a great paper. The first challenge is keeping the readers interest and attention. It is very important to keep your readers interested in your writings and it can be hard trying to read something that you are unable to keep your attention on. Keeping the information of my writings to the research and subject will help this challenge. Another challenge can be determining an appropriate style and tone for my paper. Being consistent with my ideas in my style and tone, will keep the paper flowing with information and the reader will be able to understand the point I am trying to make. The third challenge is being persuasive enough in my writings and research papers. Also, being able to put my thinking and research into words and get my point across, but also integrate enough material from my sources to keep the paper persuasive and catch the reader’s attention will provide the needed steps to a great research paper. When writing my research papers, the strategies I want to utilize for my challenges are: finding an interesting subject to do my research on, and utilize as much information I can to write an interesting paper. By using as many resources I can, will insure that I have plenty of information to include in my paper. The next strategy is making sure I have the appropriate style and tone for my paper. I can do this...

...Writing a Research Proposal The Proposal A research proposal is the presentation of an idea that you wish to pursue. A good research proposal presumes that you have already thought about your project and have devoted some time and effort in gathering information, reading, and then organizing your thoughts. A research proposal is NOT a project to be thrown together in one night with ideas off the top of your head. Thus, one might say that the research proposal is a second step, following the selection of a broad topic. The actual proposal will indicate what analytical question you wish to address. The foundation of a good research paper is a good research question. Just a tree needs a good root system to grow to be strong, a good research paper needs a good analytical question. What does "analytical" mean? An analytical question can take different forms and no one form is necessarily better than others. What all analytical questions have in common is the fact that they are not merely descriptive. That is, an analytical question moves beyond the "what" and explores the "how," and the "why." A good analytical research paper will use "the what" as part of the answer to "the why." But it is obligatory to address a question beyond the "what." For example, a descriptive paper would ask: "What was Gorbachev's economic perestroika policies?" An analytical paper would ask: "Why did Gorbachev's economic perestroika policies fail?" As part of the paper, you would then review what the...

...Sex and Violence on Television: Are the affects on Children all bad? The Issue How does the saying go? “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” There is no question that the controversy of violence among today’s youth is colossal. There are many studies that point to sex and violence in the media as the cause of this problem. Yet there are also several studies that suggest that the affects of TV violence on children and teens are minimal or may be beneficial in some ways. This paper will review literature from both sides of the controversy not for the sake of defending one side over the other but for the purpose of unveiling what makes the issue so controversial by exploring some of the questions regarding who are the people that have a stance on the issue, why might someone take a strong stance, and discuss what previous researches conclude about the influence of media sex and violence on children’s behavior. Summary of Internet Information For about half a century, Congress has wrestled with the perceived negative influences of television on society, particularly its youth. The responses to this divergence in the past have ranged from banning indecent content and restricting offensive speech to condensing the rights of the broadcast industry. Television violence, the most recent and pressing issue to date for the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is the conflict between protecting children from the potentially harmful influence of exposure to sex and...

...of my academic abilities than others, writing, not being one of those strengths. Due to past high school experiences confidence in my writing abilities dwindled as a result of four years of poor mentoring. Developing a strong passion for the sciences and acquiring an acute fear of any English reading or writing course. My fight with comma confusion and run on sentences stunted my excitement to be enrolled in a purely writing and comprehension focused course. Within the first few weeks we were introduced to an assignment that focused on defining a word or phrase, I chose to define the word “perfection”. Unfortunately, sending myself into a self-loathing downward spiral due to the unknown degree of difficulty of this word. I struggled with the direction I wanted to go with this paper, then ran into the time engulfing task of trying to capture the ideas that I had accumulated in my head into four pages. The job of capturing these ideas and organizing them into a comprehendible paper was no easy feat, battling between my free writing thoughts and my high school English essay rules, this took me 5 days, 4 long nights, and many calls for help to...

...college without any sense of personal responsibility, to succeed in college you need to have a strong sense of personal responsibility because time management is key to being successful in college and you must properly prepare for every test and paper. Personal responsibility should be broke down into three major factors first being a good strong sense in personal responsibility followed by being properly prepared and good time management. To succeed in college you need to have a strong sense of personal responsibility. In order to have a sense of what personal responsibility is one must come up with their own definition of what that would entail and mean on a personal level. You have to assess yourself and most importantly be true to yourself, don’t lie cause then you will just be cheating yourself. I define personal responsibility as a way to better yourself. If you are responsible for your own success and take it serious then you can never fail yourself. You have to set goals and stay on track to succeed with hard work and discipline. Manage your time and resources, don’t slack or allow yourself to get lazy. I take my personal responsibility very serious; I want to succeed in college with excellent grades not just the sheepskin. I want to finish my degree with a bang and carry that into the work force. You must properly prepare for every test and paper. Proper planning, research, studying and notes are all prime examples of what must be kept up on to succeed in college....

...Research Proposal Proposal for Research Topic The topic that I chose to research about is how technology is affecting people and how they interact with one another. More specifically though, I want to focus on the younger generation and children, and how their engulfment in the digital world is seriously affecting their physical relationships with family and friends. Now, to focus on children, family, friends, and how they are all being affected by the new and coming digital life is a decently broad topic. So, to limit my topic I will look closely at what questions and answers I can ask in regards to each of the above areas of research, and develop a tentative thesis. The preliminary research that I’ve conducted so far includes three articles; “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, “Children, technology, problems, and preferences”, and “Kids really are different these days”. The first of the three, entitled “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, brings to attention the fact that everyone nowadays is getting really caught up in recent technologies, and it goes on to discuss how such a strong involvement in technology is negatively affecting our personal relationships. Furthermore, the article mentions how the presence of cell phones reduces many vital factors in maintaining strong relationships with friends and family, including trust, closeness, and empathy. The second article, entitled “Children, technology, problems...

...Statement What is a Thesis Statement? Almost all of us—even if we don’t do it consciously—look early in an essay for a one- or two-sentence condensation of the argument or analysis that is to follow. How Can You Write a Good Thesis Statement? Here are some helpful hints to get you started. You can either scroll down or select a link to a specific topic. How to Generate a Thesis Statement if the Topic is Assigned How to Generate a Thesis Statement if the Topic is not Assigned How to Tell a Strong Thesis Statement from a Weak One How to Generate a Thesis Statement if the Topic is Assigned Almost all assignments, no matter how complicated, can be reduced to a single question. Your first step, then, is to distill the assignment into a specific question. For example, if your assignment is, “Write a report to the local school board explaining the potential benefits of using computers in a fourth-grade class,” turn the request into a question like, “What are the potential benefits of using computers in a fourth-grade class?” After you’ve chosen the question your essay will answer...
