Bernard Nathanson, a renowned obstetrician, presided over 60,000 abortions in his career as a medical doctor. He served as director for the Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health in New York City, New York which was then the largest abortion facility in the world. He was a prominent medical professional at the time having pioneered abortion sciences. During the sexual revolution of the 1960’s, Nathanson worked to co-found the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). He labored to remove negative associations and social stigmas from abortion and related procedure depicting them as a medical issue rather than a moral one. Bernard also played an important role in the landmark Roe v. Wade case which legalized abortion in the United States.
