Although many Germans supported Hitler, many opposed what he was doing. The most famous anti-Hitler group consisted of mostly German youth. One of the reasons that this resistance group was created was because they were forced to join Hitler Youth. (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). In general, Americans viewed all German soldiers as Hitler worshippers, not considering the fact that many were forced into their position. During World War II, it was excessively disgraceful for a Jew to associate themselves with a German.

Later, Freddy and Patty were playing a game that they had invented, Hit the Hubcap. They saw a car coming, and Patty threw a pebble which happened to hit the window of that car causing it to shatter. Patty ran deep into her backyard and dropped down into the tall grass. While sitting in the grass, she thought about how she could make it right. She planned to loan the money from Ruth, and then she would go find the owner of the car and give them the money to pay for the broken window.
