Better Half
People come and people go. Like you came out in this world alone, you die alone. But it doesn`t mean that you just sit in the edge of the corner and let yourself be drowned in the world of loneliness. That`s why God created Eve for Adan to have someone to be with. Don`t say that you want to be an old-maid all your life. Sometimes it`s better to share your success with someone when you got promoted in your job. Someone to listen when you’re sad or complain about your boss. Someone to lean on when you’re crying. Someone to lift you up when you’re down. Someone who say everything will alright in your hard problematic day. Someone to carry you when you hit badly your toe due to your killer heels. Someone to sleep with during cold days. Someone to see every morning when you just wake up. Someone to share with every moment in your life through bad and good times. Someone to remind you that you`re not alone. Someone who just simply sit beside you and tell you “we passed through this entire thing because we`re together”. Someone to argue with the problem of the world. Someone who will tell you cheesy line and make you blush around with his mushy stuffs. Someone who bring your stuffs when you’re having your shopping spree day. Someone who just listen to your complain and why-care-about-stuff- thing. Someone who take care of you when you’re sick. Someone who just so stubborn to leave. Someone who loved you whoever and whatever your past is. Someone you simply called your life. Someone whom you offer your blood and sweat to give a better future. Someone who cheer you up . someone you kiss with. Someone to be with and watch movie marathon all day. Someone who look for you when he just got home from work or somewhere. Someone who worry too much when you escape a meal. Someone who scratch your back when you hardly can`t. Someone who just hug you when you can`t tell deep inside you. Someone whom you can share secrets with. Someone who tell you how you look with your style. Someone to be with when you’re touring the world. Someone to laugh around even it`s a corny jokes. Someone who understand you. Someone who listen too of your favorite song. Someone whom you ask a song with. Someone whom you offer your theme song with. Someone who spoil you sometimes. Someone who sits with you in your rocking` chair. Someone to be with and reminiscing. Someone who treat you to a romantic date. Someone to be with and watch the stars in the sky. Someone whom you’re with standing with the same moon. Someone who walk down the aisle and tied the knot for the rest of your life. Someone whom you promise and vow to the Lord to love and to be forever. Someone who struggled to follow and court you around even if you loved him also. Someone who says sorry even if he does no wrong. Someone who says thank you for changing his life. Someone who adds colours in your dark lonely life. Someone who turned him to be a person he deserves to be. Someone who help you with the household chores. Someone who can give you a precious angel. Someone whom you surrender your most precious keep. Someone whom you share with your first times. Someone who decide when you`re in doubt. Someone whom you`re with in your couple picture frame. Someone who is someone in your life. Someone who tells you you`re still pretty during your maternity period. Someone who believes that you can. Someone who don`t care what other say as long as you`re together. Someone who will never be ashamed that you`re his special someone. Someone who makes you feel that you`re to be proud of. Someone who reminds you with your special life events. Someone who take time for a while just to check you up. Someone who simply made your day. Someone whom you get your inspiration. Someone who is your right hand. Someone who scold you when you don`t know that you`re already too much. Someone whom you share your dreams and plans with. Someone who break the record for being the most special someone in your life. Someone to be kept forever.

English - a Short Essay.

...foolishness. And that's exactly what happened for Amanda Lindhout and her ex-boyfriend Nigel Brennan. Amanda Lindhout wasn't afraid at all when she went down to Somalia. She and Nigel Brennan even gave up their two armed guards. And that is exactly what is described as foolishness in the book review. Amanda Lindhout also admits her mistakes. She admits her foolishness. And that again is, by my opinion, the overall topic. To pay an extremely high price if you don't use the better half of your brain. What views are presented in the article? The views presented in the article are, from Amanda Lindhout's point of view, about forgiving. Even though that the captors locked her up in chains for several months and gangbanged her several times, she still strived to forgive them. She knows about her mistakes and foolishness, and believes that she was the one at fault. Nigel Brennan's point of view in this matter is first of all, that he had blamed Amanda Lindhout for their kidnap. Second is that he was treated much better than her. He was sitting on a madras bathing in sunlight with a drink. And probably at the same time Amanda Lindhout was gangbanged. So he had it quite nice compared to her. By this we can tell that Nigel Brennan hadn't felt true terror as Amanda Lindhout did, and must have had a quit different overall view. But even in spite of the fact that he wasn't tortured, he must in some way have felt sorrowful by Amanda Lindhout's painful screams. Do you agree/disagree? Give...

I Got Married

...know it would be completely different if I never said the words “I will” on January three. Knowing my former self I would not be very happy with myself today if I never met and married my beautiful wife. She changed my life for the better. Before I met my wife I was a lost soul looking for something that I thought existed somewhere. All I would find though was nothing but trouble. I drank too much and hung out with the wrong crowd. The group I hung around was all about drinking and one night stands. Not getting serious with anyone no matter what. Keeping everyone at a distance ready to move on in the blink of an eye, I guess that was just part of my military mentality. I can remember countless times of waking up somewhere with someone, with no clue how I got there or who the girl was because I drank so much that I got to the point that I would passed out. When I met my wife my world changed slowly but surely for the better. I stopped hanging out with those people and more or less stopped drinking. She helped me see things in a different light, since she is one of the most responsible people I know. She showed me that there was more to life than drinking and having one night stands. Since I met my wife my life has taken a turn for the better. I stopped crashing on other peoples floors or mine for that matter because I drank till I passed out. I now own my own house, both may cars are paid off. I am a full time student aiming towards a reliable career choice, and I have two...

...cars and different properties. A few people may feel that I make a huge amount of money, however truly, I don't. I own a ranch, a beautiful ranch with animals and beautiful green grass. I was low on cash and so, I needed to put my farm for offer since work wasn't going so well. I received a letter days later, it wasn't just any letter. It was a letter from people threatening to kill me if I did not pay them a certain amount of money by a certain time. They assumed I had money because of the beautiful big ranch I was selling. Well, the day came in which I was suppose to pay. I did not have the money. I was separated from everyone else that evening at home when I heard somebody thumping on my entryway. I wasn't expecting anybody and my better half was at work and my children were in school. I opened the entryway and two...

She then tends to her children inquiring of their day, rendering motherly advice when necessary, and being the disciplinarian when necessary. And trust me, she can be quite a handful when rubbed the wrong way! On top of all this, when she is not working and being a mom, she is in college working towards her Master’s in Business. She had toiled for years achieving her Associates and Bachelor’s degree. I find it amazing that with all of this going on, she even has a spare moment for me. Yet, she still finds time to set aside just for me. Though things may not be perfect, we are perfect for each other. She is definitely my better half. She is the person that God created just for me. My life had never been the same since we met each other, and I couldn’t see my life without her. She is DEFINITELY my inspiration and the person I admire the...

Game Design

...Games can be very powerful. Spacewar, Counter Strike, and the News Games are examples of three influential games that had powerful and lasting historical impacts. These three games subverted traditional game concepts, representations, or mechanics. Although some people may view video games purely as a casual source of fun and entertainment, a deeper examination of their messages can reveal what different games tell us about our culture, giving us a better understanding of why games are created and sometimes even insights into having a better experience playing those games. In this essay I will analyze three games from the readings and discuss how those games’ movements subverted mainstream culture through their concepts and representation. Spacewar subverted mainstream culture by providing the gamer, for the first time, with visual engagement. Steward Brand wrote a great article on Spacewar. This article takes takes readers back to a time when games were still not popular. I thoroughly enjoyed this reading because it gave me so many great historical facts about Spacewar. He began his article with the declaration, “Ready or not, computers are coming to the people.” This sentence set off a great tone for the article. I was intrigued because I have always wondered about how people in the past lived their lives without access to computers. Nowadays, we use computers for several purposes such as sending emails, surfing webs, and creating beautiful visual works. It was amazing...

Radioactive Decay

...RADIOACTIVE DECAY: A SWEET SIMULATION OF HALF-LIFE Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to understand the concept of half-life, and use the scientific method (Observing and recording data).\ Introduction: Isotopes of elements have unstable nuclei; as a result, some of the particles within the nucleus are lost or emitted. This is known as nuclear decay. The amount of time for half of the sample of a radioisotope to decay is known as half-life. Radioactive decay is random process that simulates a first order rate process. The only "constant" in such a process is the time it takes for the activity to drop from any value to one-half that value. Materials: -Small pieces of candy marked on one side -Plastic/paper cup - Paper towel -Classmates Procedure: 1. Count your nuclei (candy). Write that number in the data table under the heading ‘’Number of Radioactive Nuclei.’’ In the column marked ‘’Prediction for Next Toss’’ write the number of radioactive nuclei you think you will have with your next toss. (Radioactive nuclei will be those candies with the marked side down.) 2. Place your ‘nuclei’ in a paper cup, cover and shake the cup. Pour the ‘nuclei’ onto the paper towel. Separate the ‘nuclei’ into two piles, one with the marked side up and the other with the marked side down. Count the number of ‘nuclei’ in each pile. On your data table, record the number of ‘radioactive nuclei’ candies with the marked side down. Predict how many radioactive ‘nuclei’...

...In society today video games are huge industry. According to the Technology, Entertainment, Design website TED.com more than half a billion people play video games at least an hour a day. Some people agree that video games make kids violent, but there is evidence that they do not. The ways that video games are played cause people to get to know new people and to be happier in certain situations. There are some people with video games to affect them negatively but the majority of players are not violent because of video games. Video games do not make kids violent because they are completely fantasy; they are used as a relaxation tool and also for fun and competition. For thousands of years people have always liked at fantasy to escape from real life. Fantasy had been in different forms like art books movies and other medians as technology improved video games have now become a part of fantasy in people lives. Other forms of fantasy such as movies, and books had violence in them and have not caused people to be violent. Why world video games make people violent? People were always able to recognize that fantasy was not real neither the violence therefore they should be able to make the same distinction with video games. Holden Caulfield College Essay

...slightly glass half empty type of way. I never really thought much of it until I encountered the character Holden Caulfield in the Catcher in the Rye. He similarly has the glass half empty outlook, and had the opportunity to do something good with his life. Instead he decides to throw it all away, and drink away his problems. Holden Caulfield has many problems. He is very antisocial, pessimistic, and cannot see any good in people. He is just a kid that decided to never grow up and instead to view society, and most people he meets, as “phony.” When I read this book I thought of all the similarities that I have with Holden, how I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to do anything that I want with my life, and yet I’m too unmotivated to do much because life hasn’t been too hard on me. I never saw this as a problem until one of my close friends compared me to Holden, but on a much smaller scale. That’s when it hit me that on a day to day basis I have more similarities with him than I do differences. That’s when I realized that I don’t want to end up as a Holden Caulfield, and that I want to be the exact opposite of him. Over time I started trying to change. At first by just trying harder in everything, even if I didn’t think it was worth it, to trying to see everything in more of a glass half full sense. In general I noticed being pessimistic can make life miserable, and can lead to more problems. Optimism on the other hand helps you see the world as a better place and helps...

Perspective Paper

...First off I would like to say that I had about a whole paragraph typed up explaining why I never had literature change my perspective before. I don’t like to read at all and I have only read 3 books in my entire life. Two of those books I was forced to read due to school. There was one book that I rented from a library in high school that actually not only changed my perspective but it molded my thinking of what I wanted to do in my life. The book was called House to House A Soldiers Memoir. Staff Sergeant Bellavia’s book tells about his time he spent in Fallujah which is located just outside of Baghdad. As I was reading this book it was so graphic and horrifying you would think it was a fictional book. That wasn’t the case though. The things the soldiers in this book went through left me wondering what I was doing for others and most of all my country. I really want to elaborate on how this book changed me. I remember the first day I understood why I love our great nation. I was just a kid when it happened. It was the year of 2001, in the ninth month, on the eleventh day of the month is when I watched the towers fall. I began to see how people come together as a country. So lets fast forward nine years with this book in my hand. The second battle of Fulljah was one of the bloodiest battles of the Irag War. The way these soldiers looked out for one another while they were battling evil. This wasn’t fairy tale evil either, this was real evil. I felt sorrow for the soldiers that...

Qualties

...ways. It is often used as a synonym to honesty. One could even say that it is like having a moral compass. I agree with them both. Integrity, in my eyes, is being an all around, good, honest human being. I also feel as though when a person has integrity, they have a tendency to look at the positive things in life. They seem to be the ones who do good things even when no one is looking. Integrity possesses the characteristics of someone who sees the “glass half full rather than the glass half empty.” Another important quality a person should acquire is respect. Respect for others shows that you care about them and their feelings. In exchange, when you treat another with respect, they tend to do the same. Respect for others also shows that you have respect for yourself. One example of doing both is taking a shower and being presentable in the face of society. This shows that I care about myself and care about how I present myself to others. I also believe if you do have respect for yourself and others, you will have a better chance of prevailing in life. Everyone should look for positive qualities in a person, no matter what they are. We must remember that not everyone is perfect and should not strive to be. Even though the most important qualities that I appreciate are integrity and respect, I...

...the everyday pain from those injuries, making the decision to go back to school and get my degree, maintaining a grade point average of better than a 3.0 and that is just a couple the list could go on and on. When i got injured I knew that my army career and life was over but I didn’t let this stop me from doing everything that I could I had to dig down deep within me and say I may walk with a cane for the rest of my life but I am not going to stop me. The pain that I have been dealing with and will continue to deal with for the better part of my life is a constant uphill battle but, one thing that I use to overcome this is I tell myself when it gets so bad I cant even get out of bed the pain is there to tell me and show me that I am still alive and that my children need me. When it came to going back to school it was a no brainer but still a battle inside me. I didn’t know if I could do it. I had been out of school for 13 years but I knew I was tired of dead end jobs and that it is what my family needed me to do to provide for them. So the thought of my wife and kids is what I used to get me to go back to school and get a degree. Finally with maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or better has been my goal since I started. There have been ups and downs but I know that if I keep up my grade point average then I may be able to get a better job than if I just skate by and just go for the bare minimum. Over all I would have to say that my level of persistence is average and I...

Keeping Stress Under Control

...regularly, not just when the pressure's on. Knowing how to "de-stress" and doing it when things are relatively calm can help you get through challenging circumstances that may arise. Here are some things that can help keep stress under control: • Take a stand against overscheduling. If you're feeling stretched, consider cutting out an activity or two, opting for just the ones that are most important to you. • Be realistic. Don't try to be perfect — no one is. And expecting others to be perfect can add to your stress level, too (not to mention put a lot of pressure on them!). If you need help on something, like schoolwork, ask for it. • Get a good night's sleep. Getting enough sleep helps keep your body and mind in top shape, making you better equipped to deal with any negative...

Phillis Wheatley's Work Presents an Excellent Example of the Triumph of Optimism over Experience.

...could have a better understanding of what I was about to read. This is why I imagine one of her poems was chosen for reading in our Stories of Immigration course. In the next few sentences I will share with you some of Wheatley’s experience in America. You will discover some of the hardships Wheatley faced. I ask that as you read and think of the experiences that are being described, place yourself in Wheatley’s shoes. What would you do? How would you feel? Would you choose to live a life of optimism or pessimism? Phillis Wheatley was kidnapped at a young age; stripped from the arms of her mother, taken away from the only land that she knew. We all have heard of the dreadful voyage from the west coast of Africa to the eastern American coastlines. Upon landing, Phillis took an immensely negative experience and was able to find something good out of the ordeal. I am not so sure that I would have been able to do or see the sun shine through the rain as Phillis was able to. I am close to my parents and Lord knows how much I love and need my mom. Imagine the thought of no longer seeing your family. Visualize never seeing that closest relative. The one who nurtured you taught you and showed you all that you know. This is precisely what Phillis experienced. Through all of this she remained optimistic about her present realities and her future. This is triumph of optimism over of experience. At times we tend to see the glass half empty instead of half full....
