Betty Bailey's Influence On My Life

As I sit here and think about a time in my life that will have an influence on my academic path, there is one person that stands out the most and her name is Betty Bailey. Betty Bailey was a wonderful, kind, and caring religious figure in so many individuals lives. The most important to her was my sister and I. Growing up we were blessed to be raised by my grandmother who was a very wise woman of faith. She had us involved in Sunday school, choir, Sunday morning and night sermons, as well as Wednesday night bible study. She knew how to share her faith and praised the Lord for everything she had. Very noble and intelligent.
Last October, my grandmother unfortunately lost her life to a lot of medical complications, however, I was lucky enough to make it by her side before she visited the Lord. While I was there by her side, she was unresponsive most of the week and I was by her side just holding her hand and remembering the things she taught me. Out of nowhere, she opened her eyes and said “Is that you Kristopher?” I replied, “Yes grandma it’s me I made it!” She then looked at me and told me how proud she was of me and how …show more content…
She would sit me down and read a “special” scripture of the day to me that she felt the Lord had compelled her to share her faith with me. She would always tell me to never give up and remember that the sacrifices that God made for us is way greater than any other problems that we encounter on a daily basis. If I was lucky, she would bless me with a beautiful hymnal that she loved. It would get anyone’s attention and it was genuine love towards the Lord.
