...Biblical Worldview Essay Ashley Feser Bible 110 Liberty Universyity Online Since the garden we have a natural inclination to sin, which tragically separates us from the God of Love. The Bible is clear that we cannot make ourselves righteous or earn salvation. Left to ourselves we are hopeless, but God made a way: “Immanuel” Jesus Christ, the spotless lamb. It was God’s loving compassion that provided our means to pass through the needles eye, to receive deliverance through his Son Jesus Christ, who paid for our sins through his sacrificial death. We have the opportunity to accept Christ as Savior and believe in his atoning work, and through this act of Faith we are saved. Jesus' righteousness is credited to us. Not by works so that none can boast. When Jesus finished his time here in the flesh He said, It is better that I leave then the counselor (Holy Spirit) will come. The Holy Spirit is at work in helping us avoid sin and grow in godliness. God's plan is intolerant and impartial and at the same time fair and just. This is true for both Jews and Gentiles. All are worthy to come to Christ and receive salvation. Salvation is a gift from God wholly separate from any human effort or achievement. Paul wrote that he would pray they would receive spiritual gifts to empower them to minister as He is also. He states "That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. (1:12) " This is a humble statement by Paul and his way...

...A worldview is the nature in which one interprets various aspects of the world. Through beliefs, opinions are formulated about subjects such as music, art, religion and politics. My grandmother raised me to believe in God, Jesus as our Lord and Savior. As a young adult I gave my life to Christ and continued believing the truths of God that I was taught as a child. As a Christian, I believe that the Bible is the word of God, and it stands as the lenses of how the world is viewed in a Christina/Biblical view. In Romans chapters 1-8, the apostle Paul writes about the views a Christian should have and how they should live. In the next paragraphs of this essay, it will be briefly discussed how the Bible guides us through tough life questions such as: Who we are? Where do we come from? What is the meaning/purpose of life, Relationships, and our Destiny? The Natural World A Christian’s Biblical world view of this world is seen in Psalm 139.16, the Psalmist describes how God personally created him in the womb of his mother. We are humbled at the fact that Good took the time to create us in His image. Since the creation of the world humans have been given the revelation of the truth (Romans 1:18) Gen1:1 shows God as the creator of all things. God in his all-knowing power formed the Natural world in detail to perfection. Human Identity Mankind was created in the image of God. Adam and Eve were tasked to be caretakers of the land of Eden (Gen 2:15). They were above the animals...

...The book of Judges introduces us to the long years of Israel’s struggle to maintain control of the Promised Land and serves as the transition from the conquest to the kingdom. It deals with events following Joshua’s death (c. 1380 BC) The main body of the story revolves around six cycles of apostasy, repentance, and deliverance. God intervenes time and again to rescue the struggling Israelites from military oppression, spiritual depression, and ethnic annihilation. The book of Judges derives its title from the Latin Liber Judicum, but the Hebrew title is shophetim. The verbal form (“to judge”) describes the activity of the various deliverers whom God used despite their personal challenges, oddities, or inadequacies Most of the biblical judges were heroes or deliverers more than legal arbiters. They were raised up by God and empowered to execute the judgment of God upon Israel’s enemies. The sovereignty of God over His people is seen in these accounts as God, the ultimate Judge (11:27), judges Israel for her sins, brings oppressors against her, and raises up human judges to deliver her from oppression when she repents. I. Reason for the Judges (Judges 1:1–2:23) The period of the judges followed the death of Joshua (1:1) when Israel was left with no central ruler. While the book of Joshua represents the apex of victory for the Israelite tribes, the book of Judges tells the story of their heartache and struggle to maintain control of the land. While the conquest of the land...

...Lindsi Jones CWV-101 May 29, 2013 Andre Mooney Worldview Essay My Christian worldview has been instilled into me from a very young age. Being raised in the Deep South of Alabama, this has always just been the way of life for me. God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost- also known as the Holy Trinity. (Biblica, Inc. 2012. NIV). I believe this with my whole heart and in saying that, I have set the grounds for my Worldview Essay. Who is God? God is the Creator of the universe as we know it. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning of the end. God created every form of life from humans to the fish in the sea and it only took Him six days. (Biblica, Inc.2012.NIV). God sent His only Son to die for all of our sins.(Biblica, Inc. 2012. NIV). God did this out of love for us, His other children. God has many characteristics such as mercy, grace, patience, unconditional love, and understanding. A human being is a child of God. We were made in His image (Biblica, Inc.2012.NIV). God created Adam and from his rib, Eve was created. God breathed life into both of them. This is where the first humans came from. When we die, our bodies are returned to dust and our souls go to Heaven or Hell- depending on whether we are saved or not. The nature of the universe is that we are born into sin. The Bible states in Genesis 3 that we are cursed due to the actions of Adam and Eve. (Biblica, Inc.2012.NIV.)The only way we can break this curse is to ask that Jesus...

...October 16, 2013 CWV-101 Rob Krise My Worldview Essay Introduction Understanding what a person’s beliefs are can help them when making life’s hard decisions. The beliefs a person has are his worldviews. Church, family, society, and knowledge of religion influence worldviews. Worldviews change and develop over a lifetime depending on life experiences and other influences. I will explain my views on God and how they affect not only my thinking, but also every aspect of my life in a positive way. Worldview Assumptions When I began this course, I did not know what to expect. However, I came to this class with my own world assumptions. I believe that in order to reach heaven, I must be baptized, and I must dedicate my life to God. I believe that it takes more than saying a person is Christian to be a Christian. I believe that attending church does not make one a Christian. Finally, I believe that I will go to heaven because my heart belongs to God. Questions and Answers from my Own Worldview Perspective Who is God and what are His Characteristics? God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, also known as the Trinity. He is the maker and ruler of the earth and all of its inhabitants (Genesis 1:1). God is the only deity that can forgive the sins of man and allow them to enter heaven. The only way to God is through His Son, Jesus. We must accept that he is God’s son and ask him to enter our hearts in order to be saved by his grace. God is humble, compassionate...

...Worldview Jeffrey Smith Theo 104-D86 11/25/2013 Worldview Often times the term “worldview” is given a simple definition of: the way we see he world. While this is a simple definition is goes beyond just how we see the world. As stated in the Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics “worldview is marked by the guiding premise of evaluation.” (pg. 498) It would be good to start with “who are we?” This is a very common question that many of us will ask throughout our lives. The simple answer to this question is: we are His creation. Genesis 1:27 show us that we are his creation: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” We see that the bible tells us two times in this verse that we are created in God’s image. Since we are created in God’s image that means that we are his creation and that we are perfect in form since God is perfect. Not only did God make us in him image but also see in Job 33:4 that He gives us the very life that we have; “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Without God we are nothing but with God we are perfect in His image and that through him we are given life. As we go throughout our lives and within our work place, to have a grasp of who we are in Christ, it makes it much easier to live. We can be comfortable knowing that we are love by Christ while others may not like us. Since we are loved by Christ and have that identity we can...

...follow God also. In this essay, I will be discussing the movie The Book of Eli, the worldview of the characters and if they stayed true to them, the obstacles that may have deterred them and my reactions to the movie. I believe Eli was a Godly man, and has a Christian worldview. Throughout the movie, he prays to God and quotes scriptures. He honors God with his life and is following Gods will. I didn’t know until near the end that the book Eli was carrying was the Bible. Eli faces many trials. He has little water and food and he meets several people on his journey that want to kill him. Throughout the movie, he remains steadfast in his purpose. Two of the main characters Eli meets on the way are Carnegie and Solara. Carnegie wants the Bible for selfish purposes. He believes if he has the Bible, he will be God. Carnegie wants to be the leader over everyone. Solara knew nothing of the Bible and God. She becomes friends with Eli and helps him to protect the Bible. Eli teaches Solara how to pray and quotes scriptures to her. She takes on the Christian worldview. Eli had to deal with a lot of trials along his journey. A woman on the road tries to lure men in so that the men she is with can steal from them and kill them. Carnegie tries to capture Eli so he can kill him and get the book. Eli and Solara even came upon a couple who intended to kill them and eat them. Even with all of the trials he experienced, Eli stayed true to his Christian worldview. He continually prayed...

...World View Assignment-Apol 104 Part I After the reading assignments this week I believe a worldview is a set of basic principals about live. It’s what we use to help us understand life You can think if of it like a “lens” though which we see life. “Someone with a biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God.” Part II 1. When we think about origin through the Christian worldview, the first “tool” we should think about is. The bible is the first “stepping stone” for the Christian worldview; it’s what we use to base our beliefs on, and how we know that God is the almighty creator. Genesis 1:24 and Genesis 2:7 are good supporting scripture references that talk about how God is the creator, thus the origin of Christian worldview is formed. 2. The bible says that God created man and women in his image and that we are a “unique creation.” Knowing that God only created US in him image and nothing else helps us answer the questions of identity. Genesis 1:27 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 are scripture references that further reiterate that man was formed in God’s image and we should be respectful of ourselves because “our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” 3. In my opinion the purpose of life as far as biblical worldview is concerned is so that man will come to know and accept Jesus Chris as their Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:15 let’s us know that Jesus died for us, and paid for our sins. He did this so that we may...

...Elizabeth Richard CWV-101 August 5th 2013 Todd Forrest Worldview Essay We all want something to believe in. Every view influences us to believe certain concepts and hold them to be true. I have a Christian Worldview and believe that God is my savior. I could have easily chosen to follow worldly concepts but instead I chose to believe in something the world could not offer me, God. To have a Christian Worldview one must believe and assume there is a God, a supernatural being that exists with power beyond what humans can comprehend. I believe there is a God, a heaven, and a hell. Some believe there is no God and that the supernatural world does not exist while others believe in the self. Whatever Worldview an individual may believe for their reasons, I have reasons of my own as to why I believe there is a God. God is three is one, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is the truth, he lives in everything. He is the reason for all existence. The Bible was written so that we would not only have a guideline of how to live Godly lives but for us have documented evidence that Jesus walked this earth and is real, He is something to believe in. God is a loving God. God is all characteristics in one. He loves, forgives, is compassionate, merciful, graceful, pure and eternal. God is also jealous, angry, and relentless. His character is like no other, He is flawless and without sin. No human being can touch Him and no human being can match His greatness. We are His creation...

...Critical Thinking Assignment Buddhism/Christian Worldview Robert Barbour, Jr. Liberty University Online APOL 104 Professor Robert Hunter September 29, 2014 In Aspect I of this essay, I will make an effort to respond on several concerns regarding the overall viewpoint from which Buddhists see and understand the world. I deem that the Buddhists worldview can be very fascinating and complicated in several ways. In addition, in Aspect II, I will display how the Buddhists worldview makes a large comparison in comparison to a/the Spiritual / Christian worldview. Aspect I Presenting Buddhism’s Multiple Viewpoints on Worldview The question of Origin: Buddhism is a religion that involves a wide range of customs, values and methods mostly depending on lessons linked to Siddhartha Gautama. Buddhist believe the world have no beginning or end. “The Buddha added the notion that all creatures, including man, are fictions: there is really no "self"; only a series of occurrences that appear to be individual persons and things.” (The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error 2. Compiled by Steven Cory. Copyright 1986, Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. ). The question of Identity: Buddhism instructs that there is no self, but instead there are individual, ever-changing elements that create who we are. Buddhists also believe “what keeps man in this cycle is known as Karma. Although good Karma can have a positive effect, it is still viewed as a curse; since good and bad Karma keeps a person...

...Worldview Essay Everyone has a world view, whether they realize it or not. To most, it isn’t given much thought, but to a large degree it guides their lives. To that effect, I would assume that it should be viewed as being very important. Especially since it is to a large degree what guides a person’s life. With life being as precious as it is, I would also take the liberty of assuming that everyone should identify and reexamine their world views. I am no different than anyone else in this aspect of having a world view. I too have one, and it does guide and sets parameters for my life. Therefore I think it is pertinent for me to make sure that I have the correct worldview. I am of the belief that God should be the single factor that forms people’s worldview. This is based upon various aspects that are critical to a person’s worldview. The natural world was created by God, who is the single factor in our world’s existence, since it was brought forth by God, as communicated by the opening line of the bible, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). God begins a series of commands by which the natural world comes into existence. God commands the light, firmament, waters, dry land, sun, moon , and stars (Genesis 1:3-19). It is obvious to me that while looking at the natural world, one would think of not just random chance, but intelligent design in the same way that when I look at my watch, I don’t think of random chance in its development, but intelligent...

...Please note that this essay is missing citations. i. The term “worldview” is used to describe what one might refer to as an individual’s personal point-of-view in life. The word worldview is derived from the German word “Weltanschauung” which means “world” and “view”. A Worldview is involved in a human’s emotions, outlook, ethics, themes and values. This view is created and used on a daily basis by all human beings, whether perceived, or not. Worldview is used to interpret, to discern, and to plan. One’s worldview does not only affect the large decisions in life, such as college, or marriage, but also even the smallest choices of daily life, and word-use. ii. 1. As might be expected, a Christian Worldview differs largely from the worldview, or point-of-view, of the secular trends. A Christian Worldview believes that all questions to do with man, the universe, and creation are found and answered through the inspired Word of God. The Question of Origin is answered in Naturalism through Genesis, which states “In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth”. Naturalists even go further to state that all living creatures, animals and organisms, are created by an ultimate Creator (Genesis 1). This view is in complete contrary to an Evolutionistic belief of humans deriving from animals. 2. The next question to which most people relate is The Question of Identity. The question of what man is, yet again, is answered through the Word of God, as stated in Genesis...

...Worldview and its Effect on Astronomy and Science in General Liberty University Worldview and its Effect on Astronomy and Science in General For thousands of years’ astronomy has intrigued both individuals and societies. When viewing the cosmos, the information the viewer receives is “filtered” according to his or her worldview. For example, individuals possessing a biblical Christian worldview interpret the heavens as a vast wonder wholly designed and created by their God, Yahweh. This kind of perspective is called a creationist perspective. As another example, atheists interpret the heavens as having been birthed from a naturally caused explosion called the “Big Bang.” This kind of perspective is called a naturalist perspective. Both perspectives compete with one another because each claims to be the truth. Fortunately, the law of non-contradiction tells us only one can be correct. The scope of this short essay concerns only the creationist perspective. Individuals possessing a biblical Christian worldview (hereafter referred to as Christians) believe that their God, Yahweh (hereafter referred to as God) created, by speaking into existence, the complete universe (hereafter referred to as Creation) in six literal days. This creationist perspective is derived from the first chapters of the book of Genesis found within the Bible and is a foundational belief to Christianity. Truths concerning astronomy are learned by Christians in two ways: special and general revelation...

...The Author The Professor APOL 104 The Date Determining a Personal Worldview Part I What is a worldview? One’s worldview is the lens through which you envision your existence. It is conceived, developed and refined over a lifetime of experiences. Personal beliefs, biases, preconceptions, morals and social behavior, among other aspects, are influenced by previous events in your lifetime. A complete biblical worldview is supported by five separate criteria as seen in Part II. Part I word count: 56 Part II Foundational Questions of a Biblical Worldview 1. The Question of Origin: A biblical worldview presupposes, and is plainly stated in Genesis 1:1 (New American Standard Bible) that a one true God exists and that He created everything. Once that assumption is made, it logically follows that we all are of God and belong to God. Psalm 100:3 supports this claim. The question of origin is truly the basis of the Christian faith. 2. The Question of Identity: In Genesis 1:26, God created man and woman in his image and granted humans power over members of the animal world. If man weren’t valued above animals, why would He have sent his only Son to the world as a human? There is, however, value to all things He has created. Matthew 6:26 acknowledges the value of, and love for, animals. 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose: For ages, man has questioned his reason for existing. We exist to glorify God, as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. A relationship...
