It is safe to say that the world as we know it has been significantly shaped as a result of the innovation brought forth by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. The masterminds behind one of the world’s most influential and profitable companies are an example of the entrepreneurial spirit that the United States was founded on. Jobs brought his revolutionary computer company from humble start-up to unheard-of success. Today Apple is estimated to be worth nearly $400 billion and has become one of the most valuable brand names of all time. (Apple) Apple is a true example of the entrepreneurial spirit, from humble beginnings to a $400 billion industry leader, we should ask ourselves how does this happen? Jobs and Wozniak had a vision, their purpose for creating the Apple that has permanently changed the way we live was simple; to change the world through revolutionary technology. As a result of the genius of both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, whose commitment and drive to make technology accessible, transparently simple, and highly coveted, Apple has introduced the world to products we never knew we needed have become indispensable to our lives. Marketing Plan for Big Apple

...Sensodyne is a toothpaste marketed for individuals with sensitive teeth[1] and/or dentine hypersensitivity. It is a registered trademark of GlaxoSmithKline which acquired it in 2001 in the purchase of Block Drug which developed it.[2] The root of the tooth, or the dentin, is made up of microscopic "tubules" or pores. In some people, the root becomes exposed because of gum recession or gingivitis. Because the tubules are porous, hot and cold sensations (from hot or cold foods or drinks) can reach the nerve endings easily; the nerves fire, causing a sensation of pain or sensitivity. Sensodyne works because the potassium ions and fluoride penetrate the dentinal tubules and depolarize the nerve, which blocks pain transmission. According to Nickolson (2007), “a dentifrice for desensitizing dentinal hypersensitivity needs to be used for at least two weeks to have an effect, and continued use is needed to avoid relapse” (p. 88). Sensodyne Dentinal hypersensitivity is a common problem with one in four adults suffering from this affliction. If you feel a sharp pain when brushing your teeth, eating hot / cold foods or even chewing something fibrous, chances are you might be suffering from sensitive teeth. It is usually caused when gums recede and therefore, the dentine is exposed. Dentine contains the channels to the nerves, when triggered by hot/cold/sweet/sour food or while brushing your teeth, will transmit the pain signal to the nerves. The most common trigger for sensitive teeth...

Narrative Digest

...Scent of Apples Bienvenido N. Santos When I arrived in Kalamazoo it was October and the war was still on. Gold and silver stars hung on pennants above silent windows of white and brick-red cottages. In a backyard an old man burned leaves and twigs while a gray-haired woman sat on the porch, her red hands quiet on her lap, watching the smoke rising above the elms, both of them thinking the same thought perhaps, about a tall, grinning boy with his blue eyes and flying hair, who went out to war: where could he be now this month when leaves were turning into gold and the fragrance of gathered apples was in the wind? It was a cold night when I left my room at the hotel for a usual speaking engagement. I walked but a little way. A heavy wind coming up from Lake Michigan was icy on the face. If felt like winter straying early in the northern woodlands. Under the lampposts the leaves shone like bronze. And they rolled on the pavements like the ghost feet of a thousand autumns long dead, long before the boys left for faraway lands without great icy winds and promise of winter early in the air, lands without apple trees, the singing and the gold! It was the same night I met Celestino Fabia, "just a Filipino farmer" as he called himself, who had a farm about thirty miles east of Kalamazoo. "You came all that way on a night like this just to hear me talk?" "I've seen no Filipino for so many years now," he answered quickly. "So when I saw your name in the papers where it says you come from...

People Start to Believe in Food

...People in Poland start to BELIEVE in food. They become aware consumers for whom the content of their plate defines who they are „It is a ruin indeed“ - I told to my friend while I was taking a picture of the remains of once great market hall located on Koszykowa street in Warsaw’s downtown. „You’d better go inside“- he anwsered with a mysterious smile. With the first step inside, I knew that I entered a „foodies temple“. I immediately felt the wonderful mixture of various smells including fresh herbes, roasted meat and sweet vanilla. Despite the little traffic to my ears came the multitude of sounds. Tinkling glasses, shrimps sizzling in a frying pan, clatter of knives... I simply couldn’t wait more to satisfy the other senses – the sight and and especially the taste. 08 Fall Koszyki – a slow food market with history I I decided to visit Koszyki after my grandpa’s recommendation. Built in 1906, this now practically devastated market, used to be the place of Warsaw’s residents‘ frequent visits. „You could find there products that didn’t appear on the shelves in the shops“ - he told me. „I remember your grandma’s shopping there. I couldn’t pull her out, she was in her element.“ The image of the market hall in my head created by grandpa differed, however, from Koszyki‘s present appearance. Only two outbuildings remained from this previously large retail space. I visited one of them with my friend, the one which was restored to its former function. Since the beginning...
