...Jillian McDonough ADMN 575 Wednesday 5:30 pm Big Five Across the world, we can classify people using a general system called “Big Five.” The five traits used are extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to experience. Some people value the understanding of people and their “big five” traits to help with job placement. It is also important for managers to have an understanding of their employee’s personality traits to help relate to their lives. Others argue that personality is too complex to identify into five specific types. There are two kinds of people in this world, one being extraverts and the other being introverts. It is possible for a person to be an extravert but show some qualities of introversion and vice versa. In general, energy is either obtained from social interaction or from time alone. In a work environment, a person who is an extravert might be able to complete their tasks more quickly than introverts. Extraverts are generally confident and self-assured making it a breeze when it comes to completing assignments. They have an idea and they act on it immediately. While an introvert may be slower at completing tasks at work, the quality of their work may be better than those of an extravert. Introverts are more timid and like to think before they speak or take action. They like to be given time before completing assignments, writing papers, etc. This allows for their thoughts to come together making them feel...

...Eunhye Kim May 18, 2016 After Watching “My Big Greek Wedding” The movie “My Big Greek Wedding” is about the wedding between Tula, who is a Greek-American and was wearing out of fashion style and Ian who is local American white man. Even if now she is in her early thirties, her mother and father want to find a husband in hoping of sending her to Greece. At this time, she meets a perfect guy who is American. The major conflict in this movie came out after she met him. In this movie, there are a lot of cultural things that have learned in this class. For example, dominant culture, a minority group, oppression, culture difference, and collectivism. Here are the reasons why I thought of many those concepts. First of all, this movie showed the family living in America with Greek culture, showing dominant culture and a minority group. At the start of this movie, it illustrated how this girl had grown up in America. Since this Greek family immigrated to America, the dominant culture is American culture. So, Tula was illustrated adjusting in American culture was hard, avoiding other American girls. However, her family was different. Even if they are in American, they didn’t remove their own culture, especially their house. In the movie, they lived in normal Chicago town. Whereas other houses are similar with American traditional style house, her family houses are similar with the temple of the Parthenon. Indeed, they always have their meal with Greek food. In this point, even...

One of my strong points is knowing when to start a new paragraph and knowing how much information I need to put in that certain paragraph. There are also several things I want to improve on when writing college papers. One thing I would like to improve on is organizing my thoughts. Another thing I struggle with is my choice of words. I am not very good at using a wide range of vocabulary in my papers. I also want to improve on my use of punctuation. Other forms of energy include heat, chemical energy, gravitational energy and nuclear power. Electricity is a form of energy and this is what powers the TV, the kettle, dishwasher, hairdryer, toaster, remote control, mobile phone, fridge, stereo, electric toothbrush, and more. ...(optional) Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences. (250) Shortly after I moved to the United States, I enrolled in an origami class. The art of paper folding was familiar to me but also difficult to master. I remember my struggles to keep up with the class and worries that I wouldn’t make any progress. Squash-folds and folding diagonal halves were steps that I had a very hard time doing. I often fell behind in class, or someone would help me with the step. My fear of my inadequate skills followed me home. When I came home from school, I practiced on my own, sometimes asking my mom for guidance, but often, working for hours on end alone. Gradually, my folds became more precise and I deeply enjoyed the process of transforming paper into art. As vice president of the origami club, I teach members these techniques in hopes to impart my appreciation for origami. The weeks before the Origami USA...

No more days of last minute, crunch-time paper writing with minimal proofreading. There is no room for error at this next stage in the game. You are now a graduate student and it is time to behave like one. Graduate level writing is what one should be practicing and striving to perfect. It may not seem like a big difference for those that already practice to write at a graduate level, however, for some this can be a difficult task. Hopefully by the end of this paper one can have a better understanding of what is expected at the graduate level, and what to avoid to make sure that as few mistakes as possible are made. Let us dive in to see exactly what some of the characteristics of graduate level writing are and how they can differ from other forms of writing. The big thing about writing on the graduate level is that one’s paper is constructed so that the reader can take something away from the paper. Graduate level writing should be informative to the reader and should be written without bias. Being a graduate is one step closer to being a professional in one’s chosen career. When one is training to be a professional, one should conduct their work as a professional whether in the workplace or in the classroom. The other obvious difference is how your papers will be graded at the graduate...

...Health and Social Care Activities for health and well being Introduction The unit requires me to manage an activity in a health and social care environment which will benefit an individual or a small group of service users, the activity will allow me to work on my communication skills with contrasting age groups. With the activities I have designed I would have to take into account the physical, intellectual, social and emotional side of each child. For this I will be visiting Woodend Preschool where I will be holding an activity to evaluate the children's skills and assessing how well we communicate between each other, by the way our body language comes across. Before making my final decision about the activity, I will have to take into consideration the skills each child has, the facilities, safety implications, equipment and time. Also I have to plan, improve and evaluate my activity; I have also made samples for each of my activities. The preschool and early school years are also full of changes, from three to five the child’s motor skills, language, thinking and social development change dramatically. A01- Suitable Activities and Reasons for Choice I have created a range of activities that would be suitable for Pre-schoolers aged between three to four, at this point in their life the child's development is important, it is a time where the child’s world will be dominated by fantasy and vivid imagination. Hopefully the children will be able move around confidently...

...Upon further review of my past papers, I found some small grammatical errors that needed to be edited. In my unit one paper, there were a few errors that you had marked. I fixed those oversights then continued on with my revisions. In the second paragraph, I moved a comment to after a citation section in order to back up the information with my own thoughts as I had learned a little further in the semester. Another change I had made was to change a word that was repeated multiple times in a sentence. I also revised unit twos paper. I had received a perfect score on my paper, but upon rereading, I noticed a few things that I felt should be changed. They were not big changes, but I believe the modifications helped the information flow better than it had originally. One change I had made was to change “get rid of” to “eliminate.” The main thing I learned to apply this semester was to avoid using many words when only one is needed. This was my first semester in a real school situation, so I was unsure on how well I would do. I would say that I am most proud of my grades that I have received on my papers. I feel like I worked hard on all of my papers and I am glad my hard work paid off. I learned a lot about the whole writing process and feel as if I applied it all in my writing. I really enjoyed writing the ethnographic analysis essay. I originally was not looking forward to it because of the observation time and the length of the paper. After I had chosen a topic...

...his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said: For cutting the grass: $5.00 For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00 For going to the store for you: $.50 Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25 Taking out the garbage: $1.00 For getting a good report card: $5.00 For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00 Total owed: $14.75 Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he’d written on, and this is what she wrote: For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me: No Charge For all the nights that I’ve sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you: No Charge For all the trying times, and all the tears that you’ve caused through the years: No Charge For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead: No Charge For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose: No Charge Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is: No Charge. When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, “Mom, I sure do love you.” And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: “PAID IN...

...process was a big decision. Trying to decide on how to write this paper required me to go through steps of the process. The steps used were very much similar to the one six step process in the textbook. The decision made would not have been any different because of the steps used were the same. Using the six step decision making process can be used in any situation of life. Steps Used in Decision Thinking about steps used in writing the paper for this assignment was first identifying the problem. The problem was how to write the paper by APA standards with the University of Phoenix. APA standards that were taught was 3rd person, so with this assignment and the questions asked directly to the student on a personal life decision being made brought into my mind what about first person. According Bateman and Snell (2011), the problem is recognizing it exists. The second step used in writing this paper was to generate alternatives solutions, by asking should I write in first or third person, knowing the University standards I tried to write one in the third person and this paper in first person. After conversation with another classmate I was still exploring alternatives. There were many solutions going through my head. These alternatives were all based on past experiences. As Bateman and Snell (2011) state decisions makers use previous ides or follow advice of others. The next step in my process of writing was evaluating my alternatives, which paper do I submit, and...

...Coming into Carleton, I was terrified at the idea of having to write at a college level. I had only written one big paper in High School and I had no idea how to do research. It was a hard experience and I had to push myself to a point that allowed me to present data in the best way possible. Thankfully, friends and the Writing Center were there at every step of my development into a confident writer. Aside from that, some of the most rewarding projects at Carleton were surprisingly assigned papers. They allowed me to express myself in a way that I had not previously experienced. It allowed me to incorporate my love for linear mathematical thinking into a less restrictive medium. And most importantly, I was able to immortalize my grandmother’s...
