Discuss the current trends in management of Agribusiness in the 21st century with respect to technology and its effects on Globalization. The 21st century has widely been referred to as the “technology era”, largely due to changing trends in technology. New developments in agribusiness have emerged which have entirely transformed, not only the agricultural sector but the entire business environment. These include areas such as management and leadership, technology, changes in the environmental factors – ecological factors and the like. Traditionally management was viewed as an insignificant part of the organizational structure. Decision makers in the 21st century are more aware of the need to utilize resources more efficiently, both Human and non-human. In both cases there has been an improvement from the old to current. In management Managers had adopted a dictatorial rather autoritarian kind of leadership to achieve goals, mainly preferring a top down approach to work, resulting in high staff turnover and employee dissatisfaction. Many studies have been completed utilizing global climate observations in an attempt to model changes to regional food production zones. Private organizations or government grant making groups with an interest in how climate change will directly impact their particular food security have funded most of the research available on this topic. Much of the literature available indicates that economically secure countries are more equipped to handle the food security impacts of climate change and have dedicated fewer resources to studying this issue. Three regions that have completed significant climate studies in relation to food security are Eurasia, Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and Australia (to include the Pacific island nations). All three regions discuss the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) to address their food security concerns. The Impact of Climate Change on Food Security Climate change presents a multitude of potentially dangerous issues for world communities to solve. Following Cabinet approval of the White Paper, the DoE proceeded with the development of its renewable energy strategy. The implementation plan of the various technologies was identified in a macroeconomic study undertaken in 2003. The White Paper's target of 10 000GWh renewable energy contribution to final energy consumption by 2013 was confirmed to be economically viable with subsidies and carbon financing. Achieving the target will: | Add about 1.667MW new renewable energy capacity, with a net impact on GDP as high as R1.071-billion a year; | | Create additional government revenue of R299-million; | | Stimulate additional income that will flow to low-income households by as much as R128-million, creating just over 20 000 new jobs; and | | Contribute to water savings of 16.5-million kilolitres, which translates into a R26.6-million saving. | Renewable energy sources, other than biomass (the energy from plants and plant-derived materials), have not yet been exploited optimally in South Africa. ...Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy replaces conventional fuels in four distinct areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, motor fuels, and rural energy services. Based on REN21's 2014 report, renewables contributed 19 percent to our global energy consumption and 22 percent to our electricity generation in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Both, modern renewables, such as hydro, wind, solar and biofuels, as well as traditional biomass, contributed in about equal parts to the global energy supply. Worldwide investments in renewable technologies amounted to more than US$214 billion in 2013, with countries like China and the United States heavily investing in wind, hydro, solar and biofuels. Renewable energy resources exist over wide geographical areas, in contrast to other energy sources, which are concentrated in a limited number of countries. Rapid deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency is resulting in significant energy security, climate change mitigation, and economic benefits. In international public opinion surveys there is strong support for promoting renewable sources such as solar power and wind power.
