Disadvantages 4. Conclusion Wind Energy 3 Introduction In light of concern owing to depletion of fossil based fuels it is emerging that wind energy is receiving considerable thought as a solution to the looming energy crisis. The Australian Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Renewable Energy (ACRE) was established in July 1996 with a goal of undertaking research on issues of power generation, storage and conditioning, energy efficiency, system integration and policy analysis (Smith 2008). The goal of the Australian government to attain a renewable energy target of 2% by the year 2010 caused a dramatic interest in wind energy within the country (Paulson 2001). Advantages With the current focus on global climate issues wind energy has been found to be very advantageous as it is produced naturally (Wagner & Mathur 2009). The process of production involves manipulation of a naturally available resource (wind power) and thus does not pollute the air. It is known that power plant rely on combustion of fossil fuels and thus pollute the environment. Turbines do not produce any pollutants (Wagner & Mathur 2009). Another advantage with wind energy is that unlike fossil fuels which are geographically isolated to specific regions, wind energy is available in almost all regions of the world (Wagner...

...Feature Deming’s 14 Principles Background Recent changes in regulatory requirements for clinical trials pose considerable challenges for the clinical research community. The clinical research Quality Assurance (QA) profession as a whole has not historically utilised quality management tools, and QA professionals may have little to no formal training in continuous improvement methods, to be aware of their value in assessing and improving the impact and value of the QA department to any organisation. This article will present Deming’s 14 Principles for Management, paraphrasing them to demonstrate how easily they can apply to the clinical trial project management, Contract Research Organisation (CRO) and clinical department management. Deming’s 14 Principles Dr. William Edwards Deming is known as the father of the Japanese post-war industrial revival and was regarded by many as the leading quality guru in the United States. Deming created 14 Principles for Management that summarised his business philosophy. The principles became a basis for transformation of industry. The 14 principles apply anywhere, from small organisations to large ones, to the service industry as well as to manufacturing. They apply to any division within a company. 2. Adopt the New Philosophy Management should actually adopt the ‘quality philosophy’, rather than merely expect the workforce to do so. When the new clinical trial project is thoroughly planned and the quality matters are carefully embedded...

Internet Pornography

...Internet Pornography: Freedom of Press or Dangerous Influence? The topic of pornography is controversial many times because of the various definitions which each have different contexts. Is it nudity, sexual intercourse, art, or all of these? Is it magazines, videos, or pictures? For the purposes of this paper, pornography will be defined as any material that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement. With all of the arguments presented in this paper, it seems only a vague definition of this type can be applicable to all views on the subject. Pornography on the Internet has brought about difficulties pertaining to censorship. All of the arguments in this paper can be divided into one of two categories: those whose aim is to allow for an uncensored Internet, and those who wish to completely eliminate pornography from the Internet all together. All arguments for an uncensored Internet all cite the basic rights offree speech and press. While arguments in this paper are international, almost everyone of them cites the First Amendment of the United States. In many of the papers it is implied that the United States sets precedent for the rest of the world as far as laws governing the global world of the Internet. Paul F. Burton, an Information Science professor and researcher, gives many statistics showing that presence of pornography on the Internet is not necessarily a bad thing. He gives one example that shows that "47% of the 11,000" most...
