Biography of Marshall Rothstein:
Born December 25, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, He is married to Sheila Dorfman of Montreal and they have four children. Marshall Rothstein earned Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees at the University of Manitoba. He was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1966. He also practices in the fields of administrative law and litigation, primarily transportation and competition law; he also conducted commercial and labour arbitrations. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1979. From 1978 to 1983, Marshall Rothstein was an adjudicator under the Manitoba Human Rights Act and from 1986 to 1992, a member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. In the early 1980s, he served as Chair of the Province of Manitoba’s Commission on Compulsory Retirement and in 1990-1991, as Chair of the Government of Canada’s Ministerial Task Force on International Air Policy. Also, he lectured in transportation and contract law at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law for over 20 years. He was soon appointed to the Federal Court of Canada. He was elevated to the Federal Court of Appeal on January 21, 1999, and, finally, to the Supreme Court of Canada on March 1, 2006.

Three qualities I believe are necessary in a Supreme Court Justice:
1. Must be fair- A Supreme Court Justice must be fair and have no biases against the offenders. They must be able to come to a decision, following the rules of the law and not their own personal feeling, so that all offenders will have a fair trial and recieve what they deserve whether it is guilty or not guilty.
2. Must know the law extremly well- A Supreme Court Justice must know the law well so that offenders can trust that they are getting a fair sentence to their crime.
3. Must have experience- A Supreme Court Justice should have law degrees or some other form of higher education and have experience in
