...BIS 261 John and Jacob, Inc. Online Trading System Case Study Week 3 1. The best method to get the information from all of the brokers would be to send out a questionnaire. The questionnaire should be tailored to ask a series of open and closed end questions with a free text area for additional comments, to get a better idea of what would make the system appealing to the customers and what the brokers would need out of the system. After collecting the questionnaires and completing the analysis on the answers, then select about three of the brokers to help refine the details of the requirements and also have a model created for the stakeholders to review what the system would look like, this should be done by scheduling a JAD session using the electronic support equipment approach. 2. There are a variety of ways to gather customer feedback the most popular would be an online survey that the company can put on their website asking for feedback from the customers. The company could also create a customer forum on a social media page, or create an online customer community to ask for feedback about ways to improve the website to meet their needs. They could also include a survey in the customer’s statements or send it out separately if an online approach is not feasible and offer some type of incentive for completing the survey. 3. The criteria to identify the stakeholders would be to determine who will use the system, who will maintain the system,...

Over the last two decades Business Intelligence (BI) has evolved to become a foundational cornerstone of enterprise decision support. However, prior research shows that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular, lag behind in the proliferation of BI. In this exploratory study we examine BI adoption within German SMEs in the state of Saxony (n = 214). We explore perceived benefits and challenges in their efforts to implement BI. By applying cluster analysis to these results we...

...Corpus Hammouda Salhi University of Carthage, Tunisia hammouda_s@hotmail.com Abstract: This article investigates a topic at the interface between translation studies, lexical semantics and corpus linguistics. Its general aim is to show how translation studies could profit from the work done in both lexical semantics and corpus linguistics in an attempt to help ‘endear’ linguists to translators (Malmkjær, 1998). The specific objective is to capture the semantic and pragmatic behavior of the noun ‘destruction’ from its different translations into Arabic. The data are taken from an English-Arabic parallel corpus collected from UN texts and their translations (hereafter EAPCOUNT). While it seems that ‘destruction’ is monosemous, it turns out, after exploring its occurrences, to be highly polysemous and shows a case of complementary polysemy, where a number of alternations can be captured. These findings are broadly in line with the results reached in recent developments in lexical semantics, and more particularly the Generative Lexicon (GL) theory developed by James Pustejovsky. Some concrete suggestions are made at the end on how to enhance the relation between linguists and translators and their mutual cooperation. Key words: Lexical semantics, corpus linguistics, translation studies, complementary polysemy, coercion, parallel corpora, lexical ambiguities Résumé: Le présent article aborde un sujet à la croisée des études de traduction, de...

...PUBLIC SECTOR ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE 1.0. Introduction: One of the main distinguishing factors between public and private sector organisations lies in their objectives and sometimes funding structure. While public sector bodies have a more social objective and focus more on the allocation or distribution of public goods and services within the country, private sector bodies have the main objective of increasing the wealth of their shareholders (IFAC, 2011). However, both private and public sector bodies face similar operational and business challenges brought on by the economic environment and climate. A crucial question therefore is how to account for the activities of private sector bodies and public sector bodies in a way that reflects the operational structure of the organisation and yet their varying objectives (Barton, 2000). There exist two main schools of thought on the nature of accounting in the public sector, each of which is formulated by the view of the role of the public sector within the economy (Evans, 1995). The traditional method of accounting within public sector organisations has often advocated the use of the cash basis of accounting, with larger emphasis rather placed on compliance with the rules and regulations governing the sector (Wynne, 2003). However, weaknesses in public sector management have brought to the fore the importance of efficiency and hence the adoption of the accrual method of accounting within the public sector. According to...

In conclusion, I will propose a set of specific policy actions/recommendations aimed at reducing these risks. Growth in emerging markets has been due to several factors including privatizations, participation of foreign institutional investors, increase in the domestic investor base, and increased IPOs. In a nutshell, economies are taking steps to lowers the cost of capital to spur economic activities by fast-tracking financial market development. If those points stated were considered the first generation, emerging markets now find that they need to focus on the second-generation capital market development issues. These can be stated as: developing financial intermediaries that have professionals with financial sector skills; enhancing domestic institutional investor base with financial sector skills, enhancing domestic institutional investor base in addition to foreign investors, providing self-regulatory organization and developing mechanisms for investor protection (Fratzscher 2006). It firstly justifies the effectiveness of applying concept of mass customization into service system decoupling to deal with the operation dilemma and then reveals the nature of decoupling decisions for mass customization purpose after discussions on the importance of modularization and the role of technologies including IT in the decoupling process.
