...Diagnosis of ADHD in Youth Brent Townes COM/172 November 10, 2014 Crystal Hicks Diagnosis of ADHD in Youth There have been a lot of studies done on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in the school aged children of today. The Center for Dieses Control and Prevention has completed a mass survey that states 1 and 5 school aged boys has been diagnosed with ADHD, and 11 percent of school aged children overall (ages 4-17 years old). Approximately 6.4 million have been diagnosed as of 2011. This number has increased from 7.8% in 2003 to 11% in 2011. Boys are 13.2% more likely than girls at 5.6% to ever be diagnosed with ADHD. Diagnosis of ADHD For a child to be diagnosed with ADHD there is certain criteria that is supposed to be met. There are several steps to the process in being diagnosed with ADHD, however, there is not one test alone that can diagnosis it. There are many other issues such as anxiety, depression, and other learning disabilities that have similar symptoms as ADHD. There was a few changes to the DSM-5 such as: symptoms can occur by age 12 rather than by age 6; and adults and children 17 and older are only required to have 5 symptoms rather than the 6 symptoms for children 16 and younger. Here are a few examples...

...Medical Marijuana Legalization Alexis Lucca COM/150 10/13/2013 Tameka Winston The debate over whether marijuana should be legalized has long troubled many American citizens. There are many political aspects that have to be taken into account when making a big federal decision such as this. However, long before America was even an idea, many cultures had harnessed the plant, and used it for many primitive medical procedures. Within certain states it is legal to use marijuana for medical treatments, but this is a relatively new idea in the United States. However, marijuana was not always deemed an illegal substance and because of its inherent medical value should be legalized at the federal level. Many ancient civilizations have been unearthed and found to have used marijuana in medical practices dating all the way back to 8000 B.C. Some of the more notable civilizations who used the plant include the Egyptians who used it to treat sore eyes, the Indians who mixed marijuana and milk to create a primitive anesthetic, and the Greeks who found a way to remedy earaches with the plants properties (Webley 1). Even the Chinese emperor Shen-Nung was known to prescribe it as medicine to many people almost 5 millennia ago (Bostwick 173). Therefore, it can be argued that historically, marijuana has been a crucial influence on some modern day medical treatments. It wasn't until 1930 when a man named Harry J. Anslinger was given the position of Director...

...The Evolution of Amazon The Evolution of Amazon Learning Team A BIS/219 April 14. 2011 David Avery Jr. The Evolution of Amazon The online company Amazon.com is revered for its creation of the first online bookstore. However, Amazon is also a pioneer in the implementation of information technology platforms that have helped it become a billion dollar global sales generator. When Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, shipped the first online book order from his garage in Seattle, Washington in 1996, the concept of shopping from home via the internet was in its infancy. By 1999, Time magazine honored Jeff Bezos with the coveted Person of the Year award for making online shopping a part of mainstream society. Amazon.com employs 14,000 employees worldwide, operates out of seven different countries, possesses four IT patents and is still at the forefront of creating and utilizing IT platforms to improve, expand and revamp the data management and e-commerce processes. Amazon .com practically invented online shopping and e- business in much the same way that Wal-Mart did in the creation of the superstore. Although brick and mortar stores like Wal-Mart and Target generated huge profits from selling consumer goods, Amazon.com introduced to the retail giants a new venue to increase those profits. When sales appeared to slip. Amazon quickly regrouped and reinvented itself as an innovator in data storage, multi level e-commerce and a leader in information technology development. Competition...

...Executive Summary Megatrends affect the whole economy over years. In 2014, the new business of streaming started in Europe. People get the chance to influence their own televi-sion program. Most TVs have the ability to install applications, like Netflix. Older screens can be updated by a small hardware player to get this capability. Usually living room video entertainment is done by traditional companies like the RTL group. The customer can switch the channels, but is not able to choose his program by a remote click. Netflix is the pioneer and market leader in the US in streaming and offers shows and movies by video on demand. New streaming companies will mix up the tradi-tional market. A kind of quantum leap infects the television screen. The conver-gence of technologies combines an internet stream on the classic television. Traditional companies, like RTL, should consider following a different another strategic management course than for example Netflix. This assignment analyzes the streaming market, the forces, threats and opportu-nities as a Macro Environment Analysis. It’s a fast growing business and has a huge potential. The company Netflix is screened by a Micro Environment Analysis to show their portfolio and key figures. In the targeting and positioning part, a possible way of a strategic corporate management is developed, by references on the analysis of Porter’s three generic strategies, Ansoff and Mintzberg. For the final conclusion the current strategy...

Our work intends to approach student addiction on alcohol in secondary level using business intelligence (BI) and Data Mining (DM) techniques. The result shows that a good predictive accuracy can be achieved, provided that addiction of alcohol can impact to the student performance. In addition, the result also provides the correlation between alcohol usage and the social, gender and study time attributes for each student. As a direct outcome of our project, more efficient prediction tools can be developed in order to pay more attention to the student and share how the alcohol impact so badly in his life. Introduction Alcohol had lots of bad impact in our life. Drinking too much on a single occasion or over time can take a serious toll on our health. If who drinks alcohol it’s likely...
