Blake Deal U.S Film 2nd period John Hancock is one the most recognizable delegates from the continental congress. Born on January 23, 1737 in Braintree, Massachusetts Hancock had a rough early childhood with the death of his father, John Hancock Senior, at the age of seven and soon after his mother, Mary Hawke, sending him to be adopted by uncle, a wealthy business man who John apprenticed under for a time after graduating from Harvard in 1754 at the age of 17.1 In 1763 Hancock became his uncles business partner and business was very good, however his uncle later died in 1764 and Hancock inherited the business. He opposed Great Britain’s Stamp act of 1765, since it taxed his type of business dealings so he became a smuggler of goods going into the colonies1. Hancock was very involved in revolutionary politics and made his intentions known. When public attitude toward Great Britain became more and more aggravated he made an announcement stating his one-hundred percent opposition to the throne even if it meant losing his life for the cause1. John and Samuel Adams worked together during this time of protest and were the leading figures of the anti-British radicals, so …show more content…
The reason I chose to write about him has to do with how he acted in the movie, he always seemed to be a fair man with every decision or issue that came up no matter which way he leaned. He stated he was with Adams and agreed with the idea of independence but also said that he had to take everyone’s thoughts into account and make fair judgment on everyone’s behalf. That is the main reason I chose Hancock, his sense of duty and loyalty to all colonies not just the ones he agreed with. I also like his strong attitude towards Great Britain, which is clearly seen by his signature alone being so much larger than all the others and Hancock wanted to be the first to sign the document. In the movie he says the line mentioned earlier “Maybe George can read that one without his

.... Organization Theory Challenges and Perspectives John McAuley, Joanne Duberley and Phil Johnson . This book is, to my knowledge, the most comprehensive and reliable guide to organisational theory currently available. What is needed is a text that will give a good idea of the breadth and complexity of this important subject, and this is precisely what McAuley, Duberley and Johnson have provided. They have done some sterling service in bringing together the very diverse strands of work that today qualify as constituting the subject of organisational theory. Whilst their writing is accessible and engaging, their approach is scholarly and serious. It is so easy for students (and indeed others who should know better) to trivialize this very problematic and challenging subject. This is not the case with the present book. This is a book that deserves to achieve a wide readership. Professor Stephen Ackroyd, Lancaster University, UK This new textbook usefully situates organization theory within the scholarly debates on modernism and postmodernism, and provides an advanced introduction to the heterogeneous study of organizations, including chapters on phenomenology, critical theory and psychoanalysis. Like all good textbooks, the book is accessible, well researched and readers are encouraged to view chapters as a starting point for getting to grips with the field of organization theory. Dr Martin Brigham, Lancaster University, UK McAuley et al. provide a highly readable account...
