...Temple Work or Temple Blessings My mission wasn’t anything I thought it would be. It was far better than I thought it would ever be and it changed me forever. Something happened to me there that I will never forget and it helped inspire me for this this project for me. I all started the day I left for my mission. Right before I entered the MTC I made a few quick stops. One of them was a stop at my grandparents house just down the street from the MTC. After I took some pictures and embraced my grandparents for the last for two I made a statement that turned out to be prophetic. As I was getting into the car I turned to my mom and said to her, “This might be the last time I ever see Poppa” Poppa is a my grandfather, at the time he was very sick and we weren’t sure how much longer he would make it. His quality of life had been diminishing for a few months and mentally he was losing the strength to continue. My Poppa wasn’t a member of the church either. Fast-forward a year and a half later. I enter the library in a town outside Boston, Massachusetts to email my parents like any other Monday. I opened my email to read that my cousin who was only a few months older than me had passed away due to substance abuse and that my Poppa had suffered a seizure and was in a medically induced coma. My mind went blank. I could not think. I couldn’t speak. I had only heard of things like this happening to other people it didn’t happen to me and my family. We were safe from that kind...

...Republic of the Philippines Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City “It is a blessing to be a student” Submitted by: Zeffrey Jon M. Aleta BSECE / ENGL 002 Submitted to: Ms. Macee A. Agapito Date submitted: November 28, 2014 Being a student is one of the most memorable moments of your life. Everyday there is something new; it’s either learning new things or having new friends. You’ll get to spend fourteen years of your life studying, copying notes on the board, taking exams for your grades and having problem every week because of your tasks. It is normal when you’re having hard time because of pressure, tense and stress; however, you need to surpass this if you want to have a better life in your future. If you want to become more successful than you wish for you need to study harder than you are now; but have you even asked yourself what are the blessings of being a student. Every single day is a blessing even if it is the worst day of your life there will be a blessing. Every day we see different people with different personalities in different places. Some of them are familiar or you are close with. Some of them are your parents, friends, professor, enemy, and most of them are strangers. Those are the examples of blessings of being a student; you meet different people that may help you build up who you are. Friend is a person who you like and enjoy being with. If you are a student you’ll meet different kinds of friends for example; that...

...Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Technology. It has benefitted just about everyone here in one way or another. It runs in the veins of society and is the fuel that drives our lives. On a positive note, it has brought luxury in the life of the common man; but technology has also shown its negative connotations in the form of, among other ways, increased laziness by today’s youth. I will now discuss in detail the blessings and curses that technology have produced, beginning with the blessings. Now we are all aware that we live in a technologically advanced age. Gone are the days when transportation was scarce and very difficult, when children had to walk miles to and from school and communication with family and loved ones was only through letters. With modern technology, we have advanced from faxes to e-mail and bicycles to cars and planes. Technology has also automated many of the critical processes in the industry as well as households. Modern electronic gadgets that have entered the homes of the common man have saved him from the grind of certain daily household chores. The internet has also shown to be a positive by assisting young people in uplifting their self-esteem through online programmes and we all know that it is the quickest means of acquiring, processing and disseminating information, which is admittedly a plus. Also, technology has led to the discovery of new treatments in previously untreatable diseases like diabetes and sickle cell anaemia, where...

...DOMINION IN CHRIST A king rules his domain with a word of authority. God created and maintains everything by His Word of power. You who resemble God must rule everything by your word of authority. Your language should be always, “let there be”! Jesus in His earthly Adam was created to rule and have dominion over all other creations (Ge.1:26). This is God’s intention and also His blessing. The purpose of the new creation is to rule and reign in life (Ro.5:17). Sin, satan, sickness and world cannot have dominion over you. God has commanded you to subdue it under your authority. You are born to rule! A king rules his domain with a word of authority. God created and maintains everything by His Word of power. You who resemble God must rule everything by your word of authority. Your language should be always, “let there be”! Jesus in His earthly walk ruled over the demons, diseases, nature and everything by His Word power. You are engrafted in Him. His Words now go through your mouth and rule everything. You are God’s Zion. Out of you should go the scepter of God to subdue all enemies (Ps.110:2). Jesus still rules through you in midst of His enemies. It was not Adam alone who was created in the image of God to dominate. Eve was also included. In Christ, there is no male or female. The gender difference is broken in Christ (Gal.3:28; Col.3:11). Life in Christ knows no barrier of gender or creed or race or color. All human beings come from Adam and Eve. It’s the devil who brought all...

...‘Blessing’ By Imtiaz Dharker The skin cracks like a pod. There never is enough water. Imagine the drip of it, the small splash, echo in a tin mug, the voice of a kindly god. Sometimes, the sudden rush of fortune. The municipal pipe bursts, silver crashes to the ground and the flow has found a roar of tongues. From the huts, a congregation: every man woman child for streets around butts in, with pots, brass, copper, aluminum, plastic buckets, frantic hands, And naked children screaming in the liquid sun, their highlights polished to perfection, flashing light, as the blessing sings over their small bones. I want to start off with a question: Blessings: do we take them for granted? Benjamin Franklin once said, “When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water”. This quote reveals the way in which humans take things for granted and then realise its value once it disappears. In this poem, a burst water pipe in the Dharavi slum of India causes great excitement for inhabitants as they are often lacking access to it. A theme that DIRECTLY relates to the text is that of “We do not fully appreciate an item until it becomes rare”. In the arid conditions of Mumbai, water is viewed as a precious commodity and every single drop of the liquid is considered a miraculous blessing. Water is like currency, it’s like money. In a hot country in that kind of climate, it’s like a gift. Dharker uses a combination of literary techniques in order to...

...it can be considered as a good deed. Tithes are the most common and perfect example of giving. Malachi 3:10 states, “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it.” This plainly states that a small portion of what is made and given back is promised to be multiplied into great worth. If members of the church give back graciously, the church may continue to grow, the children will receive the word, or people will become closer to God. I clearly recall the first time I gave an offering. It was twenty dollars out of my first paycheck and I was ecstatic, yet nervous. I knew I had given to a good cause but was curious as to if all my money would go there; I spent many nights praying over my money. Weeks later, I was desperate for the twenty dollars to pay for gas. At the gas pump, my card was not declined and I filled up half of my tank. As I pulled up my banking account, I looked and seen that one-hundred dollars had somehow appeared in my checking account. I knew that money was definitely a blessing and a “thank you” for my actions. Caring is often natural to some. Caring can lead to a warm heart or a heart ache. Some do not care for a reward, some care just to give. I have spent many years of my life caring for all types...

...consider and grant our causes and interest all through. On that regard, we would be further obliged if you address few of our needs which are yet to be fulfilled. We would like to request for two minibuses or atleast one with 50 seats for the ease of students' movement. As you know already, due to the on going construction of our new campus, students are in requirement of convenient transport while going to Sadar hospital for clinical duties. We are asking for mini buses since big buses can be troublsome and uneconomical to manage. On that note, we also pledge for quickening the process of construction of the new building for everybody's wellbeing. In a conclusionary note, we would yearn for your blessing for our upcoming academic and professional lives. We would like to have your blessings so we all can be successful and over all a be a good human being as you are. We will be grateful to you for your constant concern and support for us for so long. ...First and foremost, I would like to give thanks to God for all of his everlasting blessings. I would also like to thank ACE American Industries for this wonderful opportunity to participate in such a gracious and beneficial program for the sake of our children. Thank you and God bless. My name is Merton M. Hunkin. I am a parent of 3 beautiful children that attend the Aua Elementary School. I am also the current president of the Parent Teacher Association. When I first took office, I immediately performed an inspection on the school. Upon the completion of my inspection, I knew that I had my hands full because there were so many problems within the school that needed immediate attention. Once I identified the issues and problems that needed to be fixed, I immediately began to search for answers. I have been in and out of the D.O.E. headquarters seeking help. Unfortunately, there is not enough funding. We have also requested assistance from our adopted government agencies. Unfortunately for us, this means of support has come to a stalemate. The problems that currently exist in Aua Elementary School are just too overwhelming for us to repair in a timely manner without any financial assistance. We have tried fundraising, but unfortunately the money that we have raised so far is nowhere near enough to make the repairs needed. So when I heard of the ACE Helpful Hands Program, I knew for a fact that this is an opportunity that I absolutely cannot afford...

...For those of you that don't know me my name is Brittany. I work at The Willows at Citation where I took care of Julia. For the short 3 months and 11 days that I knew Julia. I've learned something that no book could possibly ever teach me. On our Journey together I was constantly being moved and touched in ways that I often cannot describe. To live with Alzheimer's and still laugh, love and find joy is nothing short of amazing. I never got that chance to meet Julia when she was full of life and energy. Instead God blessed me with Julia on May 6th of this year. God had also blessed me with the ability to really connect with Julia. I spent many nights by her bedside, I've spent many hours listening, I've shared many tears with her daughter's and I've experienced many lifelong connections. Julia taught me the importance of living in the moment and finding joy in the small things. No two minutes were alike. Things were constantly changing and it put us on the wildest roller coaster ride imaginable. I must say it took a while and I'm sure I'm speaking for a few others when I say this but I came to realize that in order to survive, you must live in the moment and appreciate each and every good thing that happens, no matter how small. Sometimes you really have to dig deep to find the good in a lousy situation. The interesting thing is that bar is constantly moving. That thing that may have seemed completely insignificant a few months ago, can suddenly become the joy that gets...

...give to my family, I also see that by this time I have met the girl whom I can spend my whole life with. Moreover, I shall have also saved a certain amount of money, visited many places and have experienced some leisure for myself, let's say, vacations, out-of-town trips, mountaineering, etc. What’s more important is that by this time I see myself believing in the words my loved ones have told me: Through the education that we can acquire, we shall realize that we are not powerless in the future; that our choices will bring us to certain goals. And this is what my degree will provide me. PRAYER Almight God, we praise your Holy Name and thank you for the graces we have been receiving everyday. We know you are the source of all these blessings and source of all wisdom, we ask you to bless us so that we will be productive this day in whatever we may do....

...functioning as a man, taking responsibility as a man, thinking like a man, acting like a man, working like a man, all of these are prerequisites to being a good Father! You will not be a good Father until you are a good Man. It’s a dying art today…there are not many in our nation anymore. Thank God we DO have a few good men here…we can always use a few more! 1. Psalm 37:23- The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. E.g. God’s Promises to Abraham Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV) Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country,From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation;I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you;And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” 2. Proverbs 12:2a- A good man obtains favor from the Lord.. Acts 13:22(NIV)2 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’ 3. Proverbs 13:22a – A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children E.g. Judges 2: 7-10 - When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel. 4. Matthew 12:35 -...

...3:30 a.m. to get ready for the Buddhist blessing. The Buddhist blessing had to be done no later than 8:00 a.m. My aunt and uncle’s house was busy from the moment everyone got up. Families arrived to help finish prepping food and decorations for the party. You can hear everyone chattering, yelling, people walking up and down the stairs and in and out the doors. You could also hear knives hitting against the thick cutting board that’s being used to chop up meats. My cousin Mylee had nine bridesmaid because the number nine is considered lucky in the Thai culture. Every helped one another get ready and put on their traditional Thai outfits. As 6:30am rolled around, the Buddhist blessing was ready to begin. Nine Buddhist monks in their orange robes, made their way inside my cousin’s house. In the basement was where the monks sat. The carpet of the basement floor was covered with reddish brown linen. As the bride and groom made their way to the monks, they first lit up some incense, candles and gave the monks fruits and money that is sealed in an envelope because the monks could not handle money. They both then kneeled in front of the monks to begin the blessing ceremony. After the blessing from the monks, the bride and groom receives three white dots marked on their foreheads. They also got sprinkled with the water that has been blessed from the monks. The water is sprinkled on their heads and all over their bodies. Before the Buddhist blessing is over, the monks are feed while everyone...

...‘Everyday is a blessing. And I want today to be a day full of appreciation for everyone who has ever come into my life. From the little child I see passing on the street babbling adorable baby talk that makes me smile, to the feeble but amazingly kind and warm old woman that takes time to say ‘hello, darling, you alright?’ when she runs into you even though she’s a stranger. Everyday a complete stranger smiles at you, not because they get anything out of it, but because your face ticked something inside them that made them want to make you smile. Isn’t that great? Those silly yet wonderful people called friends that we have around us and in our hearts, how can we not be grateful for them? What would we do without those who would be ready to make you a cuppa hot chocolate in the middle of the night when you’re having an emotional breakdown, or when dance with you on ridiculous music so loud that all you hear and feel is exhilaration and absolute joy? That best friend we know we all call a ‘sibling’, the annoying devil we all love to hate when they don’t get along with us, but run to when nothing else in the world makes sense. I, for one, can say I’m blessed to have the best sister in the world. A true friend, always there to tell you what no one might say , always looking out for you, regardless of their age, always protective and proud of you and so excited to be a part of every joy you share. I can’t think of siblings as anything less than the sweet little angel god...

...Damned! Life aren’t that fair right! My father can have a new wife, Carla after our mother leave the family. I cannot blame my mother 100% for what she had done. She said father was too poor to support her taste in term of material, sex and care. She married with a journalist in another town. She is not allowed to meet us when we are still young. Once, she sent some money to Greta or my account, but she stopped since Carla is holding our money, spent all of our earning. Our father is a bastard, glorious stingy bastard. He earns a living at the fertilizer factory. Well a shit works at a shit place. He never gives us a penny since me and Greta started to work. Carla is a heaven sent mother if our father is at home, treats me & Greta like her little prince & princess but she will immediately turned into a wild beast when father is not at home. We have to do housework, cleaning, cook for ourselves. Yes, she is the beast who betrays her master my father. Whenever our father went on night shift, she goes out to The St James Building, where she meets her fellow secret friends. Perhaps she performs striptease or moonlight ritual to the Freemasonry, to earn extra money, to make new network with the Freemasonry brothers or to seduce new dick. Whatever satisfaction she earns, it never brings happiness to me and Greta. I wish I could tell my father but a wish is just a wish. My father will never trust me and Greta anyway. Greta is my little sister, she is just 16. But...
