Introduction
* Sauk Village is a Chicago land south suburban community established in 1957, with a population of 10,411 and over 3,331 homes. Recently Sauk Village has experienced some changes in the community, community leadership and administrative staff. A newly elected Mayor in 2009 and a retiring Village Manager after a 20 year service record reflects the changes in the leadership and administration. The Community has experienced a shift in racial makeup from predominately white to predominately African American over the last decade. With the dynamics of the change in racial makeup of the community the election of a new Mayor who is the first African American to be elected in the Village amidst the racial change in the community has created tension
* As the newly selected Village Manager selected thru a board approved process, the first Black female manager for the Village. My responsibilities include supervision of, all village departments at the direction of the Mayor and Village Board, including public works, community and economic development, parks and recreation, police, fire, emergency services and general offices of the village. Enforcement of all village laws, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures to ensure labor relations. And develop and manage operating expenses within an annual municipal budget.
* Recently the Village has had some internal issues as well. The election of the new Mayor in 2009 has caused friction on the Village Board. One of the first actions the newly elected Mayor made was to replace the Manager with a Chief of Staff. However
