The Blobfish

Introduction Described as the world’s ugliest animal in 2013, the Psychrolutes marcidus, or infamously known as the blobfish, is one of the most infrequent animals ever seen by a human. The member of the psychrolutidae family dwells specifically around the coasts of Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania (as indicated by the image on the right). At this fathomless level, the female blobfish is able to lay around 1000 eggs at a time. The blobfish is endangered due to fishermen using trawling nets, and for eating trash in the ocean. Its gelatin-like mass provides them with a density lower than water at such deep pressures. This body structure is very different in contrast to a human anatomy, especially including the excretory system.

Although there is little information about how this mysterious creature excretes its waste, there is documentation on the organs and structures within the specimen. However, the excretory system of a blobfish is said to look and resemble a regular fish, except with no swim bladder, one intestine and no scales or skeletal structure.
