Many people think that blood moons a sign of prophecy. Two examples are two Christian pastors. Their names are Mark Blitz and John Hagee. They believe that the tetrad is a fulfillment to a prophecy in the bible. A tetrad is when four consecutive total lunar eclipses occur 6 months away from each other. This has occurred before but this last tetrad coincided with two significant Jewish holidays. The two Jewish holidays are Passover and Tabernacles. Some say that the lunar eclipse that is supposed to happen on September 27 is a sign of the end of the world.

Mayan Predictions

...sticks out is the Blood Moon Prophecy of 2015. “And the moon became like blood” (King James Bible, Revelation 6:12). When people read bits of the Bible they believe what they pick out, even if they just believe that the Bible is a fictional book. The Blood Moon Prophecy of 2015 is based on this snippet of a Bible verse. In this case, the Bible can easily be used to prove how this prophecy is entirely wrong. The entire Bible verse reads this: “I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as a sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood” (King James Bible Revelation 6:12). It is understandable to think that the world could end during the four consecutive blood moons in 2015, but it is also wrong. People believed that the world would end during the blood moons because the Bible prophesied it, but also because it is believed to be rare to have four consecutive blood moons occur. That statement is not as accurate as one would think though. In fact, since the first century there have been sixty-two blood moons occur, and since 1492 there have been three blood moon tetrads, the tetrad of 1493-1494, the tetrad of 1949-1950, and the tetrad of 1967-1968 (Blood cnn.com 2). Since there have been so many blood moons to occur, it has become easier for scientists to predict when a blood moon will occur, that is why people knew about the tetrad in 2015 before the tetrad actually occurred. Since the blood moons were predicted...

The End Times

...------------------------------------------------- Prophecy in the Last Days Study by: Elder Abraham Juma ------------------------------------------------- True Prophet vs. False Prophet A prophet is anyone who bears the message of God and conveys it to others. The messages of God can never contradict one another. The Spirit that inspired the writers of the Bible inspires every true prophet, and brings to clear view the thoughts of God revealed in the Bible instead of contradicting it. Those who contradict the Bible are under the inspiration of another spirit. We call them false prophets. God’s thoughts in the Bible are complete and clear, without any contradictions. Though the thoughts of God were written in human language by human beings, they show a clear purpose of God’s love. Sometimes they appear to contradict, but if read ‘precept upon precept’ and ‘line upon line’, ‘hare a little and there a little’ all apparent contradiction is dissolved, and a perfect harmony seen. God’s word is perfect. Those who teach principles contradicting the Bible are not better than the Bible; they are actually being inspired by Satan. God cannot contradict His word; see the story of the prophet in 1Kings 13:1-28. God communicates through the Bible. If He must send a prophet, the prophet cannot contradict the Bible. Again I say, if he contradicts the Bible, he is a false prophet. God has not sent Him. Christ has a message to the world, and He puts His Spirit in a person who communicates...

...course of this essay. The Prophets The promise of the coming Messiah was not decided during the time the early covenantal promises were given to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David (Kaiser, 1995). By the time the Latter Prophets arrived on the scene the message of a coming Messiah began to proliferate and blossom throughout the scriptures. Kaiser (1995) states, the writing of these prophets began to showcase the doctrine of God promising to send a future Messiah in order to restore Israel and give them the Promised Land. A common theme throughout the writings of Joel and Obadiah concerns the day of the Lord, in which judgment and restoration will take place (Joel 2; Obadiah 1). At times it seems as though much debate surrounds some of the prophecy and predictions leading...

Oedipus and Fate

...Samuel Orazem 11-22-2014 Balser - Yellow Puppets and Prophecies The idea of fate has existed alongside humans since before the creation of even the most primitive, simplistic religions. Throughout history, there has always been a clear divide between those who believe in fate and destiny, and those who believe in their own free will. The struggle to prove or disprove the existence of fate is one that has been present along with the idea of fate since its beginning. In Oedipus the King, Sophocles not only clearly shows his own opinion on the existence of fate, but also demonstrates the struggle humans encounter when trying to determine whether they have control over their destiny. Ancient societies, such as the Ancient Greeks, strongly believed in religious ideals to a greater extent than many modern societies; however, Oedipus’s story is one of few from Ancient Greece that openly questions the existence of fate, and dares to entertain the idea of free will. The time described in the play is one where the truthfulness of religion was being heavily questioned, and at its core, Oedipus the King is about the existence of fate. Throughout its pages, the play shows characters who both believe in destiny like Tiresias, and also characters like Oedipus, who transition from believing in fate to believing in free will, and back again. In Oedipus the King, the difference in opinions between Oedipus and Tiresias regarding the existence of fate, clearly show the nature of fate in...

Catanduanes: Land of the Howling

...rich culture. Some of these stories are commendable while others are dishonourable to some extent. Catanduanes has been known as the “Land of the Howling Winds” because of the many strong tropical cyclones that visit it every year and leave it devastated and desolated like a lover forsaken by a beloved. But aside from this epithet affixed to our province which implies its geographical condition and location, are there still other words we can attach to the phrase “Land of the Howling...” which in one way or another will help other people imagine and understand what our province really is? Well, maybe we just need to try. Land of the Howling Pigs and Drunkards Percy Bysshe Shelley in his “Ode to the West Wind” wrote, “O trumpet of the Prophecy, If winter comes, can spring be far behind?’. Cirilo Bautista, that celebrated Filipino poet, wrote in one of his essays, “If summer comes, can teacher seminars be far behind?”. I, on the other hand ask, “If summer comes, can fiestas be far behind?” This is the summer of the year 2013. And summer is not just a time for vacation and excursions, it is also a time for the undying tradition of fiesta. It is so amusing (and appetizing!) to know that that many barangay fiestas in Catanduanes fall on summer which is a vacation time. Now how did this queer coincidence come to be so? Is it really just a mere coincidence? Or the voracious colonizers deliberately...

“an Investigation Into the Sacrificial Blood Rituals of the Maya Culture.”

...Extended Essay In World Religions [pic] “An Investigation into the Sacrificial Blood Rituals of the Maya Culture.” Abstract This essay focuses on the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Mayan civilization that spanned from the borders of present day Honduras up to Mexico, but which only a certain amount is truly known. The principal reason why I chose to focus on these people was to challenge myself to try and gain a greater understanding of why they engaged in such strange rituals as bloodletting and even human sacrifice? What prompted them to commit such acts? I proposed that the performance of these actions, as they seemed to be so entwined with their culture, must have had something to do with their religious beliefs but which ones exactly, and how did they originate? It was with this in mind that I conducted an investigation into the sacrificial blood rituals of Maya culture. Thus, from conducting library based research - using books, Encyclopedias and the Internet - I found out that the Mayans had created for themselves a complex Creation Myth and pantheon of gods. It was to supposedly sustain these gods, who were constantly fighting against one another, that the Mayan conducted bloodletting and human sacrifices, believing that in return the gods would provide them the water needed to grow their maize. The gods, replenished by this blood, were able to maintain the harmony of the universe by preventing any one group of gods...

Other unnatural occurrences happened prior to Duncan's death but were not explained until afterwards. When the old man says "'Tis unnatural / Even like the deed that's done. On Tuesday last A falcon tow'ring in her pride of place, was by a mousing hawk killed" (II.iv.10-13), it also proves the connection between unnatural events and humans. An owl tends to eat mice and hunt at night, a hawk is not it's usual meal. This strange event occurred prior to Duncan's death, which told of things to come. Another quote spoken by Ross, also foreshadows Duncan's death: "And Duncan's horses…. Summary "The moon out in it's full glory./ The stars...

Jane Eyre in Terms of the Gothic

...Gothic Literature Gothic fiction  is a genre of literature that combines elements of both horror and romance. As a genre, it is generally believed to have been invented by the English author Horace Walpole, with his 1764 novel The Castle of Otranto. The effect of Gothic fiction feeds on a pleasing sort of terror, an extension of Romantic literary pleasures that were relatively new at the time of Walpole's novel. Melodrama and parody (including self-parody) were other long-standing features of the Gothic initiated by Walpole. Gothic literature is intimately associated with the Gothic Revival architecture of the same era. In a way similar to the gothic revivalists' rejection of the clarity and rationalism of the neoclassical style of the Enlightened Establishment, the literary Gothic embodies an appreciation of the joys of extreme emotion, the thrills of fearfulness and awe inherent in the sublime, and a quest for atmosphere. The ruins of gothic buildings gave rise to multiple linked emotions by representing the inevitable decay and collapse of human creations—thus the urge to add fake ruins as eye catchers in English landscape parks. English Gothic writers often associated medieval buildings with what they saw as a dark and terrifying period, characterized by harsh laws enforced by torture, and with mysterious, fantastic, and superstitious rituals. In literature such Anti-Catholicism had a European dimension featuring Roman Catholic excesses such as the Inquisition (in southern...

Some Classical Prophets and Their Influence in in Their Time and Viewing God Through a Chaplain’s Eyes

...Some Classical Prophets And their influence in In Their Time and Viewing God through a Chaplain’s Eyes - Reflections of Student Chaplain Joseph P. Lalka October, 22 2014 Classical Prophets are the spoke persons of the Lord. They have a collection of works attributed to them. After the Prophets of Abraham, Moses, Miriam, Samuel, Nathan, Elijah and Elisha we are presented with what are called the Classical Prophets. They speak for Yahweh and are not future predictors but admonish and encourage about the present day. They remind the established leaders of the reason they were the leaders of their people. Remind the Establishment why they are the establishment. Eight century Prophets are most notable, and the start of the Classical Prophets. Their writings are collections in a separate book of the scriptures. Amos Amos is the first prophet I want to discuss. The theme that runs through all of the material is one of protest against the social injustices that prevailed in northern Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II. Along with this protest is the warning that Yahweh will surely punish the nation for violating the demands of justice. He declares, "Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again." He is caustic and abrasive in his delivery. He is from the southern kingdom but preached to the northern kingdom. He up holds the Mosaic Covenant. Amos was a herdsman who lived in the region of Tekoa, not many miles from the city of Jerusalem. As Amos pondered...

...been deeply buried, and virtually every piece of information you come across is speculation and trickery, disguised as fact. The aim of this article is to ignore all the extreme speculations and fabrications, and just present the known facts. Plus I’ll throw in some of the more plausible scenarios, to help you understand what might soon be upon us. Everything that follows is either accepted fact, or will be denoted as being disputable or an opinion. Regards, Robert Bast - Melbourne, Australia, 2010 The Long Count Calendar The ancient Mayans had roughly 20 calendars, all of which were short in duration, with the cycles equating to astronomical phenomena, or were intended to relate to history repeating over and over again via prophecy. Except for the Long Count calendar. The Long Count is the Mayan equivalent of our calendar, in that it assigns unique dates over a long period of time. A short numerical description (like 12/6/1976 in our calendar) pinpoints a place in time. Unlike our calendar, which starts with the birth of Christ and heads towards infinity in two directions, the Long Count has a definite beginning and a definite end. The start date of the Long Count calendar rarely gets a mention, and few experts have attempted to explain why this date, August 11, 3114BC, was chosen. Many independent researchers have noticed that the era of 3114BC includes the rise of multiple civilizations (especially the Egyptians), and the construction of the Egyptian pyramids...

Life Sketch

...W.B. Yeats's "The Second Coming" W.B. Yeats' poem "The Second Coming" was written in 1919, just one year after WWI ended. The beginning of this poem reflects on how evil has taken over the minds of good Christians, and the world has turned into chaos. It is apparent that Yeats believes that a Second Coming is at hand, and he spends the last half of the poem discussing what that Second Coming could look like. Turning and turning in the widening gyre (line 1) Yeats imagines the world in a cyclical sphere known a gyre (shape of a cone). In Yeats' note on the text, he states that "the end of an age, which always receives the revelation of the character of the next age, is represented by the coming of one gyre to its place of greatest expansion and of the other to that of its greatest contraction" (2036). Yeats believes that the two thousand years of Christianity will be coming to an end, and after a violent reversal a new age will take its place. The widening part of the gyre is supposed to connote anarchy, evil, and the loss of innocence. The falcon cannot hear the falconer; (2) The falconer in this analogy is most likely God (or Jesus), and the falcon is the follower (or devotee). Humanity can no longer hear the word of God, because it is drowned out by all of chaos of the widening gyre. A wild falcon can symbolize an unconverted Gentile; someone who has sinful thoughts, and does sinful things. A tame falcon (one who listens to the word of God) is a Christian convert. In the...
