I sat, my legs dangling out the window, and my hands resting on the cool wood of the windowsill. The warm summer air brushed it’s gentle hand against my legs. I stared out into my lawn, and my eyes rested on the same thing they always did. I listened, and my ears picked up the familiar melody. There sat a Bluebird, its bright blue wings shimmering in the sun. It sat there without a care in the world and didn’t move a muscle or fly with any other birds. It just sat and sang it’s song.. I sat in this spot often, and just listened. I listened to the Bluebird’s song.
School was going to start again soon, and it was always a hard time for me. The other kids taunting me about anything they could. All year, I longed for moments like this, where I could just sit and listen to the Bluebird.
Two weeks later I dreaded the first day of school. That drab, brick building was a torture chamber for me. My parents rushed me off to the bus, and told me to have a great day. The yellow school bus rolled to a stop, it’s old brakes squealing and jerking the whole bus forwards. It’s doors opened, and the brakes released with a hiss. I sat in my usual spot, seat 29. I was always just counting the minutes until I could run home. Later that day in math, some kids started up a chant across the classroom. The teacher’s tried to make them stop, but they wouldn’t. They just went on chanting, “look at the idiot, they have no friends. ” They were howling with laughter after every rendition. After about 5 minutes, the teacher finally got them to stop by threatening to call all of their parents and tell them what they done. I sat there, glassy eyed until the final bell rung and I got to go
