...BODY A good boss generally leaves the employees to do his or her work, but is available to help the employee if needed. As a result, employees tend to be happier, more at ease, and more likely to be more productive in his or her work environment. There are many qualities that make up a good boss. A good boss cares about their job as well as the employees who work under them. It is important to a good boss to do what they can to keep company they work for growing and to succeed every day. You can often tell a difference in the attitudes of a good boss and a bad boss because a bad boss may have a bad attitude and show no interest in wanting to be at work, while a good boss loves their job and goes above and beyond to succeed their company and themselves as well. In contrast, a bad boss keeps his or her door closed, and does not want or invite in communication with his or her employees and can be quite rude when interrupted. This behavior can often affect how employees feel about their job and how he or she does their work. Employees tend to be more stressed and annoyed when they are picking up the slack of their boss and when they are not receiving the correct answers to questions that may arise. Things may not get handled the way they should be handled if the boss does not show interest in step up and do their part. When a bad boss does not show interest in care in their employees that also affects how they do their work because employees may feel they are being taken...

...1st Body Paragraph Critics of Chris McCandless were wrong to think that Chris was a selfish individual. In fact, Chris is a kind and generous person. For starters ever since, Chris was in High School he helped many less fortunate than him. Krakauer writes: “On weekends, when his high school pals were attending “keggers” and trying to sneak into Georgetown bars, McCandless would wander the seedier quarters of Washington, chatting with prostitutes and homeless people, buying those meals, earnestly suggesting ways they might improve their lives.” (Krakauer 113). As we can see Chris could not spare watching people suffer. Hunger was one of the many injustices he could not stand. Again, before leaving society, Chris gave the rest of his college fund money to a charity OXFAM America. Those actions prove that Chris was generous. Even when he was planning his trip, he continues to help others for he gave his money to a good cause. Chris actions open doors for many who struggle with hunger. Clearly Chris was not oblivious to people pain. This gesture is definitely not one of a selfish individual. Moreover, another example of the big heart of Chris is when he was in Alaska. He just finished hunting a moose and he was starving but his remorse, was more of a weight than his hunger for he tried his best to preserve the meat. Unfortunately, all attempt fail and McCandless was forced to accept his defeat. He did not take it well. A passage in his journal tells us exactly how he felt:...

...to career application with a Christian worldview. The first paragraph of your paper will be the introduction to your paper. The function of this paragraph is to obtain the reader’s interest, and should also present the content and context of your paper. It must tell your readers why you are writing the paper and why the topic is important. The final sentence of your introduction should be your thesis sentence. The thesis statement is the “point” of your essay, and is the idea that you will be supporting throughout the body of your paper. The paragraphs following your introductory paragraph will make up the body of your paper. An integrative device such as an analogy or metaphor must be used within the body of the essay as a vehicle for clarity. For example, an essay from a female with Business/Communications cognates could use the example of the Proverbs 31 woman. The very first page of your assignment should be a cover page that includes your name, course and section number, date, cognate listing, paper title, and chosen formatting style. Please note that this sample paper is formatted in MLA style; however, you should be sure to use the style that is most appropriate for your chosen discipline. ...Basics on Writing an Academic Paragraph What is a paragraph? A paragraph is a collection of related sentences dealing with a single topic. Learning to write good paragraphs will help you as a writer stay on track during your drafting and revision stages. Good paragraphing also greatly assists your readers in following a piece of writing. You can have fantastic ideas, but if those ideas aren't presented in an organized fashion, you will lose your readers (and fail to achieve your goals in writing). The Basic Rule: Keep one idea to one paragraph The basic rule of thumb with paragraphing is to keep one idea to one paragraph. If you begin to transition into a new idea, it belongs in a new paragraph. There are some simple ways to tell if you are on the same topic or a new one. You can have one idea and several bits of supporting evidence within a single paragraph. You can also have several points in a single paragraph as long as they relate to the overall topic of the paragraph. If the single points start to get long, then perhaps elaborating on each of them and placing them in their own paragraphs is the route to go. Elements of a paragraph To be as effective as possible, a paragraph should contain each of the following: Unity, Coherence, A Topic Sentence, and Adequate Development. As you will see, all of these traits overlap. Using and adapting them to your individual purposes will help you construct effective paragraphs. Unity The entire paragraph should concern itself with...

...gradually gets more specific in the introduction. The thesis statement expresses that Agatha Christie appeals to most people because of the strong characters, interesting settings, and her strong morality in her novels. In the author doing this, it follows a clear essay structure which makes it effective. Secondly, the body paragraphs support the thesis by providing examples of Christie's works and how they are expressed in the same order that was given in the introduction. Specifically, in the first paragraph the author explains Agatha Christies characters, Hercule Poitrot and Miss Jane. In the second paragraph there are examples of interesting settings and finally the author expresses his opinion on her morality in the third paragraph. This clearly shows that the author is well organized because the body paragraphs follow the same order as they were listed in the thesis statement. Also, specific examples were used to support each of the points which reinforced the effectiveness of this essay. Lastly, the author had strong arguments which made the essay very effective. An example of this is when the concluding paragraph follows the same outline as the introduction paragraph but backwards. Specifically, the author restates the arguments and moves on to the general idea, which is why he believes Agatha Christies novels are essentially the best. Clearly, by the author using this structure it makes the essay effective and easy to read. Therefore, the essay, "The Enduring Appeal of...

For this assignment, you will consider what the definition of a hero is. Then you will turn your attention to explaining how Winston Smith is a hero or is not a hero. ...important to both a writer and reader when writing a paragraph. The two paragraphs I chose to read were paragraph two, which is about the government effort to help the economy deal with the crisis of delinquent debt. I also read paragraph three, which is about circumstance that may lead the consumer to be denied credit. The paragraph that was most effective was paragraph three. This problem unfortunately, has, and will affect many people in the near future. It opens with a simple yet understandable topic sentence that sets up the rest of the body. The body provides facts and examples on why a person would be denied credit and what happens if one is denied. Paragraph three does not have the clarity that paragraph two does, and has a few punctuation and grammar errors, but it gives more detail on why a person would be denied credit. Paragraph three gives the consumer the reason for denial and the opportunity for the consumer to correct the damage already done by bad credit. Paragraph two just focuses on what Obama and Congress WANT to do to help the economy. The sentences in both paragraphs aren’t repetitive and they flow nicely with clear and concise points. What separates paragraph three from two is that paragraph two discusses ideas for the solution whereas paragraph three gives the consumer the power to participate in solving their own demise, thus making giving paragraph three a stronger concluding sentence. Therefore, paragraph three is more effective to the reader for its clarity...
