My earliest memory of eating Bolas de Berlim was when I was 5 years old, patiently waiting by the table as my mom carefully placed the pastries onto a plate from the hot cookie pan. These pastries are in my opinion of the top Portuguese foods and something that you could introduce to your non-Portuguese friends. It’s a dish found in every Portuguese household that represents the sweet and savory sides of Portuguese desserts. Being Portuguese I grew up eating this type of jelly donuts (eating about half a dozen in 10 minutes) every week or so. My mother cooked up all kinds of traditional Portuguese dishes but this one was by far my favorite.
