Boomerangs Flight

...Boomerang Erik Harrington 1/22/15 p2 Boomerangs: Goal is to have one that flies. The problem is that i need a boomerang. But why does it fly? why does it come back? To obtain a boomerang i will have to make one. There is a lot of research on what makes one fly and how it comes back. I have truly never been interested in boomerangs before, and i am not currently but i need a grade. To me boomerangs see inefficient. Trying to aim a hunting tool (what a boomerang was first used for) that is meant to curve in the air seemed kind of useless. Boomerang Wiki definition: “A boomerang is a thrown tool, typically constructed as a flat aerofoil, that is designed to spin about an axis perpendicular to the direction of its flight. A returning boomerang is designed to return to the thrower. It is well known as a weapon used by Indigenous Australians for hunting”. Ok so by definition boomerangs fly because: “Returning boomerangs fly and are examples of the earliest heavier-than-air man-made flight. A returning boomerang has two or more airfoil wings arranged so that the spinning creates unbalanced aerodynamic forces that curve its path so that it travels in an elliptical path and returns to its point of origin when thrown correctly. While a throwing stick can also be shaped overall like a returning boomerang, it is designed to travel as straight as possible so that it can be aimed and thrown with great force to bring down game. Its surfaces therefore are symmetrical and not uneven...

What Achievement Means to Me

...What Achievement Means To Me When there is a problem, I’m the one that you would ask to solve it. If someone was mixed up in a tangled mess, I’m there to straighten it out. I will always be the one that will make society look at the positive outlook of a brilliant idea gone wrong. I’m that special someone that will help you realize that the idea is still brilliant even though it may have taken a turn for the worse. I have always been recognized for my gift to lift someone’s spirits. It has always been evident that Public Relations is the career for me. Dreams and ambitions or not just sleep clouds and small child fantasies that are only in my imagination. Dreams and ambitions keep me focused and energized to achieve all that God has for me. What is achievement to me? The meaning of achievement is obtaining exertion or successful performance. That’s the proper definition according to Webster’s Dictionary. But to me, achievement means so much more. My goals and ambitions are life opportunities that I refuse to compromise or let be compromised. Obtaining my goals and working hard towards my ambitions is a very important factor at this point in my life. In my opinion, achievement is everlasting. It can be good or bad. It just depends on how one chooses to take advantage of it. For example, a criminal has stolen a man’s fortune successfully; he has achieved his goal. It’s a very bad achievement, but he was successful. However, a Christian such as myself, looks...

Boomerangs Essay

...Boomerangs: The Strategic Process of Rehiring Your Former Employees, Part 1 How to develop boomerang and corporate alumni programs Boomerang efforts have one of the highest ROIs in recruiting. When you take the time to examine the profile of new hires who produce the best on-the-job performance, invariably previous employees returning to the organization, or "boomerangs," make the list. Boomerang is a term that was coined to identify top performing "corporate alumni" who are either purposely targeted and brought back into the organization, or who return voluntarily after some absence from the organization. Boomerang recruitment is a high ROI activity, primarily because the cost per hire is very low and little time or effort must be invested in getting to know the candidate. While boomerangs make great hires, they also empower or embolden retention efforts by exposing employees at risk of attrition to first-hand accounts of life outside the organization and the selling points of what brought them back. Boomerangs are highly valuable to an organization not just because they bring back great stories, but also because they bring a fresh perspective, yet one capable of embedding years of history. By stepping out of the organization, there is a good chance that boomerangs have learned new skills and strategies that are applicable or valuable in redesigning and improving your approaches. They can also bring back valuable information about how a competitor does business and...
