This guide will help you learn how to use the library to search for resources related to topics covered in your Academic and Professional Success course. Unit 1
How to find e-books on e-mail etiquette:
Try searching Safari Books Online, which is an e-book collection available to you from the library’s Find Articles and Books page. To get to Safari Books Online, follow these steps:
From the Virtual Campus, click the Library tab to access the library homepage.
Click the Find Articles and Books button on the center of the library page.
When the new page loads, scroll through the alphabetical list of databases until you see the link for Safari Books Online.

To enter the e-book database, click directly on the title, Safari Books Online.
Click directly on the words Safari Books Online
Once you are in Safari Books Online, type email etiquette into the search box at the top left of the page and click Search.
This will pull up a list of books that discuss effective communication through e-mail.
To start reading a book, click its linked title. When the next page loads, click the Start Reading Online button.

Clicking a title will also load a book’s table of contents. Each chapter title is a clickable link that will take you directly to the first page of the chapter.
More on using Safari Books Online:
To flip through the pages of the book, click the left and right pointing carrot buttons (< >) near the right side of the screen. To make the text bigger, use the slide bar to the left of the Full Screen button.
You can also search within a book. When you have a book loaded, click the Search link at the left side of the page. Make sure the search option is set to This Book and enter your topic, term, keyword, etc. into the search box and click Go.

How to find web links on e-mail etiquette:
The library’s Web Resources contains links to about 2,000 web sites, each reviewed for quality and relevance. To find web links related to topics covered in your course, follow these steps:
From the Virtual Campus, click the Library tab to access the library homepage.
Click the Find Web Resources button on the library page.
When the new page loads, you’ll see an alphabetical list of categories. Click Study Skills.

After you click Study Skills, a list of subcategories will expand. From this list, click E-mail.
This will pull up a list of resources that discuss and provide information on effective e-mail communication and e-mail etiquette.

After you type in your search term and click the Find Web Resources button, results will load beneath the search box. To view a link, click its title.

Once you are in Safari Books Online, type your search term into the search box at the top left side of the page and click the Search button. Search terms to try include: Time management Goal setting
This will pull up a list of books related to your search term. To start reading a book, click on its title, and then click the Start Reading button that appears on the top right side of the page.
The results area also displays links to chapters and sections within a book that are relevant to your search term. You can jump directly to these sections by clicking the Chapter Title or Section Title link to the right of a book’s title. Click More Results From This Book to access links to additional relevant sections within a book.

More on using Safari Books Online:
After you click a book’s title and load the book, you can flip through the pages by clicking the left and right pointing carrot buttons (< >) near the right side of the screen. To make the text bigger, click the large or the two magnifying glasses to the left of the Full Screen button.

Click the words eBook Collection to load
Once you have eBook Collection loaded, type plagiarism into the first search box on the page.
Click the green Search button and results will load on a new page. To start reading a book, click the eBook Full Text link beneath the result listing.

This will load the book. After the book loads, you can use the left and right arrows at the bottom of the page to flip through the pages of the book.
The book’s table of contents is listed on the left side of the page. You can use the table of contents to jump to a specific section of chapter of a book.
You can download or print up to 60 pages of a book by clicking the Print icon in the Tools menu on the right side of the page.

After you click the print icon, enter the number of pages you’d like to download or print, then select Print to PDF. Once the PDF file is created, you can save it to your computer or send it to your printer. You can also email the PDF file by clicking the Send as E-mail link.

The library’s Web Resources contains links to about 2,000 web sites, each reviewed for quality and relevance. To find web links related to topics covered in your course, follow these steps:

When the new page loads, type Tuckman into the Search Web Resources For box and click the Find Web Resources button.

How to find the article listed in your Unit 4 Individual Project:
The library’s Find Articles and Books page provides access to thousands of full text articles, including the article listed in your Unit 4 assignment. To search for this article, follow these steps:
From the Virtual Campus, click the Library tab to access the library homepage.
Click the Find Articles and Books button on the center of the library page.

When the next page loads, click the box to the right of the search box. From the drop down menu, select Title.
Then, type the title of the article, Avoiding unintentional plagiarism, into the search box and click the Search button.
After you click the search button, results will load on a new page. The article will be first in the results list. To start reading the article, click the PDF Full Text link on the left side of the page that loads after you click the View button.

The full text of each article can be printed, downloaded, or e-mailed. To find the links to these options, click the article’s title. The links to print, email, or save the article will be on the right side of the next page that loads.
