Since the early days of the first Pilgrims, many chose to come to America to find a better life. Some came for religious reasons, some came for financial gain, and still others came for political reasons. Regardless of their reasons, all came for freedom. However, once they arrived they still needed to form their own way of governing, as they still were subjects of England. The importance of uniting into a political colony would be key in becoming a sovereign state, that way one could break away from England. (Document A) For the colonists, just being in America wasn’t being free as they thought. England was constantly imposing taxes on them. The colonists began to rebel against many of the taxes in the Boston Tea Party of 1773. Many of the
