Topic: Bra Fitting
Purpose: Demonstrate how to properly fit for a bra
Thesis Statement: Wearing the correct size bra maintains breast health and can improve your appearance. Good Morning Ladies and Gents! As you may know, my name is Janell, and I am pleased to talk with you about a topic that is near and dear to my heart: Bra Fitting! This may not pertain to the gentlemen here today but it is useful information that you could pass along to the women in your life. I have been working as bra fitter for the past six months with the company called Macy’s. Let me ask you a question: “On average, what percentage of women are wearing the wrong size bra?” (Pause) According Wikipedia, 75-85% of women wear the wrong size. For the next few minutes I would like to provide you with a few helpful facts and demonstrate how to measure yourself for the right fit. Believe it or not, most women wear a bra too large in the back and too small in the cups. Most people know that bra sizes are made up of two parts - a number and a letter. The number is known as the "band size" and the letter is the "cup size." However, what many people do not realize is that cup sizes are in proportion to the band size. According to Lisa Hill at our local Macy’s store, you should get re-fitted every time you have a shift in weight. Whether it be weight gain or loss, or even pregnancy; they all have an effect on your bra size.
Achieving the proper fit helps with breast health, comfort, and your overall appearance. If your bra is the correct fit you shouldn’t even realize that you are wearing one. There should be no digging, rubbing, or movement from you bra. If you're looking for a better fit, here's how to find your true bra size provided by Victoria Secret’s website. * Measure your band size. Hold the tape measure around your back at band level. Then bring it to the front just above your

Reflective Practise

...Reflective report on 3 aspects of training assessment performed with student I asked Leanne (student) to provide three reflective reports on random training she had received in-house from myself. Each one is dated 9th, 17th and 26th January 2012 respectively. The three were quite interesting for Leanne, as one was her first ever fitting of a hearing aid, the second was observational on a unique type of specialist hearing aid, and the third was assessing of a patient for hearing aid suitability. It was agreed that these three sessions encompassed all aspects in Audiology she may come across in her future career. For example, she can fit a hearing aid, she can assess a patient and she has learnt that not all fittings are straight forward, for those presenting with a unique problem(s). The end product is patient satisfaction, provide a solution for the patient and to support that in practise. Leanne has come on in leaps and bounds since her early days in the department. She is confident, but finds it difficult to ask questions. However, she does manage talk about things in the appointment through her reflective reporting. This is something I may need to talk with her about when I have the final meeting with her. But I am not overly concerned at this moment in time. The 3 reflective reports that Leanne produces is of good quality, informative and reasonably accurate. It also highlights aspects of training she mentions that we both have undertaken together in the appointment...

Market Research Report

...Extensive Research Report on the Best Bra for an Intimate Moment The “For Him” Collection: 1 Executive Summary This research was done to gain an insight into the male perception regarding female brassieres. We  are  making  the  assumption  that  females  take  into  account  their  male  partner’s  preferences   when purchasing their brassieres for intimate occasions. With this in mind, our team set out to pin point the type of bra that males found the most arousing. The results of our survey showed that most males wanted a partner wearing a black or red, lace, push-up bra. There was a consensus among our male respondents that they wanted to see their partner in lingerie in intimate moments. We found that the black and red colors were the most arousing to our male respondents. In an interview with an industry expert, we found that our initial assumption mentioned earlier was correct; women wear certain bras to please their partners.  So  females  do  keep  their  male  partner’s  in  mind  when  they  shop  for  brassieres.  In  fact,   they mention women buying lace bras to please their partners. We learned, through secondary data, that 47% of men found black to be their favourite color bra on their significant other. (Beckmann) We also found secondary data that reinforced the importance of push-up bras in arousing males. An experiment placed a young woman with size A breasts in two locations wearing various levels of push-up bras, the amount of males who approached...

...When discussing fashion women often talk about the amazing dress they picked up or the sexy peep toe heels that they just couldn’t bare to pass by, however, very often does one think of the bra and its impact on fashion history.   A necessary evil in most women’s lives the “over the shoulder boulder holder” has been around since ancient times in some form or another.   Before the invention of the brassiere women were suffocating in corsets that resulted in crushed rib cages and damaged reproductive organs.   But in 1914, Mary Phelps Jacob changed all that by stitching together the very first bra.   The rest, they say, is history. History of the Bra Each and every day millions of women wake up and reach into their dresser drawer to choose the bra she will wear for the day.   Sometimes careful thought is put into which one to choose based off color, texture, or function and sometimes no thought is put into it at all as she wears whatever she grabs first.   “We put a bra on every morning without thinking about it,” Cherry Berry, author of Hoorah for the Bra, said.   “It’s so much more than an undergarment.   It’s so rich in history (Randle, 2009).”   The bra has a long history that is intertwined with women’s social status, fashion evolution and the ever-changing views of the body. The bra is often looked at as an object of seduction, glamour or oppression, however, its development throughout history serves as a social and material artifact (Farrell-Beck, 2002).   Garments used...

Bra Boys

...How successful is fledgling director Sunny Abberton in his creation of Anthony Hines as antagonist, villain and threat to the harmony of the Brotherhood of the Bra Boys? Abberton’s combined roles of filmmaker and participant, allow for personal bias to influence the controlling scenes, within the documentary Bra Boys, due to the director’s positive affiliation with the gang in two distinct ways. Through a heavily edited montage presented in the introduction of conflict in the narrative, Abberton reinforces the dangerous status of antagonist Hines as a harmful and destructive presence for the Brotherhood. The filmmaker achieves this through the use of composed newspaper scans, criminal photographs, and black and white images of Hines, which presents Hines as an enemy of the family and betrayer of the gang. Accompanying these images, Abberton employs eerie non-diegetic background music to anchor negative associations of this character for the audience. Combined within the montage these techniques assist in supporting the direct commentary by Steve Bligh, which reveals Hines’ dark criminal history and the fact his release jeopardised the lives of the Abberton family. Abberton’s controlled representation successfully engages the audience and influences their perception of Hines to align with the filmmaker’s. Through careful construction of mise-en-scène, the montage creates an authentic sense of vulnerability...

Bra Boys Task 2

...[pic] The Bra Boys are a gang of young blokes who enjoy their surf amongst the beaches of Maroubra on New South Wales who occasionally get made out to be something they are not by the media. Main gang members Sunny and Koby Abberton have made a documentary to tell their side of the story and prove their innocence. Today I will be discussing and reviewing whether or not it is true that the "Bra Boys" are depicted by the media as being maligned. Within the Bra Boys documentary they are stating themselves not to be a gang, but a brotherhood. What kind of brotherhood walks around the streets late night getting into lights supposedly "protecting" their place in town and the beach? I personally think that the gang have done immature things in the past which media have taken too far to make them look bad but in saying that 1 also believe that they are a great bunch of blokes who deep down just want to enjoy the surf Media obligations such as a murder within the bra boys got fully blown out of proportion and the media made false accusations to the public. I am supporting the case that the bra boys are not as bad as made out to be. December 24th 2002 On this night in December an alleged brawl between the notorious surf gang the bra boys and many of the local off duty police. It started out as a normal night with a few of he boys together all having fun, having a few drinks celebrating a fellow bra boy and close friends birthday. The bra boys party consisting of approximately...

Plumbing

...Kevin McPheeters Instructor’ Choice Assignment Fall2012-ECO2023-Princ Economics II-372686 November 3, 2012 Plumbing In my current position, I have the chance to dabble in many of your typical industrial trades such as electrical work, carpentry, welding and plumbing. As much as I enjoy this type of work, my job requirements create limitations to my knowledge and experience. I work in a maintenance capacity; therefore it is helpful to know a little bit about a lot, as opposed to being experienced in exclusively one trade. All of the aforementioned trades are suffering a shortage of qualified employees, so the opportunity exists to get into any of them and succeed, career wise as well as monetarily. It just amounts to how hard one is willing to work on what are generally considered unglamorous trades. For the purpose of this assignment I am going to focus on opportunities in the plumbing trade. Plumbers are tradesmen that are generally qualified for a wide range of responsibilities, and also need some experience in other trades such as carpentry and welding. Plumbers can handle jobs as simple as one man unplugging a toilet all the way to an entire company dedicating its workforce to constructing a skyscraper. They can handle everything from plastic pipe and glue to cast iron pipes and a welding rig. If they are working on a house, they would need some carpentry skills for plumbing installation. Plumbers have an advantage over some of the other construction related trades...

Need to recommend ways of improving the bra so that the volume can become increasing in sales. The research draws attention to the fact that people do not want their cell phones out or in their pockets especially now that the cell phones are being made smaller to fit anywhere. Over the next two years, although cell phone in bras retained its market share the volume of sales in the whole market decreased because of being skeptical of buying bras due to radiation from the cell phone. Revealing information in further investigations states that this market shrinkage coincided with an increase in health awareness amongst consumers. These claimed to offer the consumers a healthy alternative. These factors appear to be the major causes of the decreased sales volume of cell phone in bras. Joey Bra is the latest put forward by Mariah and Kyle, two students who came up with the idea. The report evaluates this range and concludes that it would be an ideal candidate to meet the challenge presented by the market and could satisfy the new consumer demand since it uses significantly reduced purchases because of the radiation in the bra. 1920s Fashion

...wasn't a department store in your town or city where you could shop for clothes or accessories as all the big department stores had mail-order catalogs where you could order clothes for men, women, and children for delivery by post. This meant country people had easy access to city fashions for the first time. * The hairstyles of Hollywood stars were copied by women all over the world and womens magazines carried articles on how to achieve the current look. Hairstyles were much shorter than the previous decade and styles like finger waving, the Marcel wave and permanent waving were in vogue * changed as a result of this move towards practical clothing, with corsets becoming smaller and more flexible, and modern style bras being introduced. The new bras provided shape and support whereas the older style tended to flatten breasts and constrict the chest. * the Roaring Twenties redefined womanhood — a new woman evolved; it became more acceptable to smoke and drink in public, closer body contact in dancing, shorter hair, make-up, different styles of dress, and greater participation in the workforce * The flapper stereotype is one of short bobbed or shingled hair, straight loose knee-length dresses with a dropped waistline, silk or rayon stockings with garters,...
