Buying decisions are influenced by so many factors. The consumer behavior dictates that the consumer has to get the best deal for his/her money in order to maximize utility. Some of such forces that influence consumer decision when buying a car are environmental factors. When a person is planning to purchase a car, environmental factors can have a significant impact (Kotler, 2000). Environmental factors that the consumer must be considerate of include laws and regulations. In the situation where the government has legislated laws that may affect the use of various kinds of cars, the consumer will think about them. Another consideration might be infrastructure. The consumer is expected to buy a car depending on its suitability in using it in the place of residence. If the terrain is poor, the consumer may reconsider choosing a model that will be suitable.
On the other hand, social class also has a huge impact on the choices made in relation to purchasing a car (Solomon, 2012). For a consumer who is in a higher social class, he/she may be forced to acquire a car that suits their social class. In this case, even if the consumer may not have finances to meet that cost, he will ensure he acquires that car that fits his social class. Lastly, culture has also some way in which it affects purchasing decisions. In essence, culture shapes perceptions regarding certain products in the market. What consumers have been able to learn and be influenced in the society has a significant impact on their purchasing choices (Miller & Muir, 2004). For instance, there are societies where members have believed that certain models of car are meant for ladies. Such people have grown up believing this to be true when in real sense there is no gender in cars. Therefore, this will have a significant impact when such an individual is buying a car.
