BRANDING OF PAKISTAN

The world now a day has become a compact village. Everyone knows everything that is going on in various part of the world. Marketing and branding has become so important that people are putting so much focus on the marketing activities of the product or brand they are affiliated with. Competition in the market is so strong that every organization is giving so much heed towards the innovation so that it can provide its customers with some thing new in order to sustain its already captured customers and to attach new ones with its name. Every organization wants the competitive edge.
It is the case with the countries that are in the world. The pool of information available to the people around the globe makes the aware of what is happening in different countries and what is the reason behind it. The governmental bodies these days are trying to make their image better in the eyes of public of not only their own country but also in the eyes of public of other countries so that when they are competing in the elections next time they can get the international support. That can influence the opinion of the people that live in their own country.
Pakistan these days is going through the transformational phase. Various positive actions are being taken by the government to improve its image. Pakistan is facing the major crisis in its economic category. People who live in the country and had been the big industrialists are taking their money out of Pakistan because they think that they are not being provided with the major standards of life including security of life and the security of their monetary acquisitions. International investors have also tilted their way towards Bangladesh and Sirilanka because of the terrorist label that has been put on the name of Pakistan.
Marketing is done to educate people about your product and organization. It helps the organizations to remove or eliminate the wrong perceptions that have been rumored against their product and organization. Once this thing is done by adopting various strategies of marketing than the image is build and the positioning of the product or the organization is done. This helps to attract customers.
Now when we talk about Pakistan, various things have deteriorated the situation. Pakistan, now, first has to remove the wrong badge circulated against him in the market or world fist and than it has to show its positive things to the world. Only state can do this and I believe it has started doing this. Pakistan’s direct competitor is India as both the countries got independence almost on the same dates. India has developed so much but the Pakistan due to various external pressures couldn’t flourish that much but the situation is changing now the people of Pakistan and the state is becoming too much conscious about it. Governments change after 5 years so their policies can’t be implemented properly so they can play a minor role in the branding of the country but the state can play a major role in the branding of the country. As told in the previous lines that India is the direct competitor of Pakistan so state can use India as the bench mark and can use that bench mark in order to prove that in which fields the country is equal to them, ahead them, behind them and where they are trying to change their weaknesses in to opportunities. SWOT analysis can help to brand Pakistan after setting India as the bench mark.

Opportunities:
As compared to India there lies various opportunities for Pakistan. India has developed much and Pakistan is on developing stage. Various positive things have been utilized by india but in Pakistan they are still unused. Once those positive things are searched out and acknowledged and than utilized Pakistan can get a competitive edge. * Education sector of Pakistan is providing different standard of education to students who study in private sector and a bit lower education standard to those who study in government school. Once the education standard becomes equal at both levels the generation will turn literate at equal levels. This will increase the wisdom in those who have not much intellectual capacity these days. This will increase the image of Pakistan as the country having many intellectuals in it who can collectively take country to the skies of success. * There is no proper tax collection in the country and even the tax rate is very low in the country. Once the reforms are brought in the governmental institutions and those intellects are the part of policy making proper tax rate can be set and its collection can also be made on ground. This will increase the National income of the country that will ultimately lead to the increased living standard of the people, resulting the better image of the country. * India has rules for the international investors that when they take money back from India which is earned after using india’s infrastructure they charge them for that because they have provided them the platform to earn. Pakistan right now is in much critical situations that even their own investors are running out of the country. Once the situations get to normal and the investments starts in the country they can use this policy as well in order to earn more for the state. * Domestic industries are closed and the employment level has decreased in Pakistan. Once the terrorism is brought to death in the country industries will start to flourish again and the employment level will increase. More employment can lead to more spending and more savings which can be later proved as more investments in the country again it can increase the National income and the living standard of the general public. * Pakistan is the only atomic power when we talk on the basis of religion. It is considered as the guard of all muslim countries. It can prove itself the big brother of all muslim countries which will increase its power in the eyes of the rest of the world. * With every day passing business schools are increasing in Pakistan. If we see the past trends of the country than various domestic manufactured products had not been successful because they couldn’t manage the proper marketing of that product. If the proper marketers are hired and they are asked to brand the products properly the demand of domestic products can increase in the country. * Pakistan is the agrarian economy. It exports its agriculture products but in raw form or without branding them. If the agricultural products are branded properly and the value is added to them they can improve the image of the country and the buyers will have to pay high for them as the value chain has been improved. * Pakistan’s northern areas are much mesmerizing. Once the security condition of the country is improved the veiled tourist spots can be unveiled and they can attract the tourist towards them. The tourism industry can flourish in the country.
Threats:
Threats always exist to the organization and when we talk about Pakistan than threats lies to it as well. India being its direct competitors is always putting its eyes on the every movement of Pakistan and especially the actions it takes to develop itself. * It’s a threat to Pakistan that india has already built its image that its as secure place to invest. People from different countries are investing in Pakistan. Now whether they will be willing to invest here in Pakistan is a big challenge for Pakistan. * The literacy level of india is more than Pakistan. They are utilizing their wisdom already so it’s a challenge for Pakistan to compete with the sharp minds because they can raise something before Pakistan even thinks to do. * They have already made their celebrities as the world favorite celebrities, which Pakistan has never done. Now it’s a threat for Pakistan that either they will be able to raise their celebrities this much that they can become world favorite or not. * The top richest people of india are the industrialist and they have shown that they have earned all this legally but in Pakistan it’s a shout everywhere that their rich people are the corrupts of all. * Big brain drain is taking place in Pakistan while india asks its people to go out learn things and get back to country and apply all that which they have learnt from abroad according to their own values. They are excelling and Pakistanis are providing their brain to the rest of the world. * Corruption is the major hurdle in building the image of Pakistan. It’s a question that whether the corrupt officials will let the reforms bring in Pakistan or not? * Terrorism is actually on religious basis in Pakistan and no sect is ready to take blame on it and they don’t even want to accept if they have done something wrong. So whether the terrorism will be mitigated from the country or not is a threat too. * Bad Political and military relations have always leaded the country to worst situations. It can only be supposed that they will remain aligned and let the Pakistan excel in different fields. * A part of the economy of Pakistan runs on the foreign aids so there is always an external pressure in policy making in Pakistan. How will Pakistan cope up with this threat is a question too.

...Branding Elizabeth Saracini April 27th, 2013 Marketing 300 Taste the Rainbow. Open Happiness. Eat Fresh. These slogans are recognized across America and around the globe due to the strong branding strategies implemented by the companies that own them. In today’s fast paced and technological world, it is essential for companies to use a simple image, sound, or phrase as a to communicate their reputation. Physical and auditory cues allow brands to take on personality traits that derive from the product’s core customer value. Branding can be very effective in a marketing product by adding perceived value, differentiating the product in a large market, and increasing brand recognition. Most importantly, branding can create a strong customer loyalty that simplifies purchase decisions and builds an emotional bond between the product and the consumer, which in turn leads to higher profits for the company and overall satisfaction. The initial concept of branding began with early civilization, almost 4000 years ago, when farmers branded their livestock to claim ownership over them. Potters’ marks on porcelain dishware and pottery were also recognized as an early form of branding. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s countries around the world began to industrialize. Manufacturers now faced competition from previously insignificant countries because products could be produced and transported easily and efficiently. Branding

...Branding Products are never nameless. In fact, the term “household name” comes from a popular brand or product becoming a part of your home—seeing these products every day in your cabinets, pantry, refrigerator, bathroom, and even garage. There are many laws protecting products and their brand names because of ownership. The makers of these products have the exclusive right to produce these products while labeling them in order to separate themselves from makers of similar products. Branding isn’t only important for protecting rights to a company’s line of products, it also allows consumers to recognize a brand as its makers create new products, improve on existing products, and evolve as a company as a whole. When consumers continue to buy a certain brand, brand loyalty becomes an important part of business. Companies can know which products their consumers like, which ones need improving, and which ones aren’t selling. A lot of brands that become popular pour earnings back into their business to create more products, generating more products and ultimately more earnings. Though it was a huge blow to Anheuser-Busch to discontinue their brand name in Germany (a huge beer-consuming nation) and placing large ads at the World Cup in Germany, the court ruling was correct in protecting the Budvar labeling in Germany. Branding is everything to companies across the globe. If a company in Germany created a line of sports drinks and called them Gatorade, the court would rule...

...engender trust. Brands are built on the product itself, the accompanying marketing activity, and the use (or non-use) by customers as well as others. Brands thus reflect the complete experience that customers have with products (Brands and Branding Research Findings and Future Priorities). Apple’s strategy is a corporate branding strategy that revolves around its emotional experience with its products. To be an emotional brand, it must have three things in common. The company must project a strong humanistic corporate culture; have a unique visual and verbal vocabulary; and establish a connection with its consumers (The Analysis of Apple’S Branding Strategies). Apple’s branding techniques is a demonstrated achievement. As indicated by a late article on Appleinsider.com, Apple's 254 retail stores offer 492,000 Macs to 38.6 million store guests amid the June quarter, with a large portion of those deals going to clients who had at no other time claimed a Mac. The company successfully achieved the tartgeted sales and also left a very positive impression on its product’s consumers. References: Donald R. ...buy into and the brand then becomes more than its product. Labels that grasp the importance of branding understand that they must be more than the watch or bag or scarf. The appeal of a brand must be in who the consumer becomes when he or she puts on or uses a certain product. Brand awareness widens when a high-end label creates and conveys a clear message or lifestyle that the consumer thinks he or she can attain through purchase. That is the art of branding. Branding convinces the consumer not to simply buy a product, but instead buy the brand as a whole. A stellar product does not stand alone—behind it must be something deeper, a message or a symbol which should represent or relate back to the identity of the brand. Within the luxury sector, where products are often an investment regardless of one’s socio-economic status, conveying an identity is crucial. If the consumer cannot see what he or she will gain from purchasing a $2,000 handbag or a $26,000 watch, there will be no sale, and the ship that is the brand will sink. John Goodchild and Clive Callow, authors of Brands: Visions and Values, relate the success of brands to “their ability to communicate meaning.” They write that successful brands “communicate a rich set of messages and allow us to feel that we can relate to the underlying offer, be it a product, a service, or a company” (Goodchild, 21). Effective branding changes a consumer’s mentality from one of “I’ll buy that” to one of “I’ll buy into that.” Ralph...

...Brand Extension If you have ever named a boat, a pet or a child, you know how difficult it can be to choose the right name. Despite the importance of the decision, the process seems hit-and-miss and there seem to be few guidelines for getting it right. After agonizing over lists of alternatives, you reject all but one, with no sense of certainty. Later the name seems inevitable – how could you have considered any other name? The Challenge of Naming The naming challenge is compounded in a business environment, where anointing a company with a name is likely to be just the first of many labeling decisions. Products, business units, specific services, marketing programs, features, line extensions, apps, web sites and more all need monikers. Each decision has implications for future decisions, so it’s important to have a plan or ‘rules’ to guide your choices and avoid confusing customers. Although critically important to brand health and company value, it can be difficult to create the rules for naming brand entities, and for specifying the relationships among them. Here is a partial list of the kinds of challenges faced: * When is it desirable to extend an existing brand and when is a new brand required? * How should a new brand be linked to the parent? Should the relationship be explicit or kept in the shadows? * Which is better, a descriptive name or a fanciful name? * When should a name be retired? * When should a feature be branded? * Should different...
