...transgender it doesn’t make them any less of a human being. After discussing the movie with some of my classmates, I realized we had different feelings towards the movie. There were some things that didn’t quite make sense to them, but made perfect sense to me. For example, one of my classmates could not understand why Brandon continued to lie and deceive everyone. She thought if Brandon would have been honest from the beginning then he might still be alive. However, I disagree because I feel that Brandon wasn’t being dishonest to trick people or hurt others; I feel that he really thought of himself as a boy, so to him it wasn’t lying. Brandon was just trying to start over fresh in a new place and didn’t want to bring his past with him. I believe Brandon waited so long to come out because he knew he would not be accepted by his family. The movie showed how unsupportive his cousin was about his decision to become a boy. I truly believe that Brandon moved to another town to have a fresh start at life; there he had a greater chance of being accepted the way he was. Even after Brandon’s death his family still showed how unsupportive of him they were by putting, “Teena Brandon, loving daughter and friend” on his headstone. As a mother, I can see where that would be a hard decision to make. The child you gave birth to and raised all those years was not the same person you had laid to rest. However, it is my feeling when you have children, you should love and support them no matter who they...

...are gay, lesbian, transgender, transsexual that are being targeted, beaten severely, and killed. Anna Marie Lambert drove up the driveway to the rented farmhouse to visit her daughter and grandson. Inside the house she found the grisly, brutal, bloody scene and called the police. She took the grandson away from the bedroom and out to the kitchen away from the bodies. The male on the living room couch was identified as Phillip DeVine, 19. In the bedroom was the body of her daughter Lisa Lambert, 24, who was partly under the covers. The third victim was the body of Teena Brandon, 21 who was identified by Richardson County Sheriff Charles Laux. Teena Brandon had filed a police report a week earlier that John Lotter and Tom Nissen had raped, sodomized and beat her severely after a Christmas party (Ramsland, n.d.). ...some point but grew out of or deeper insights such as self-discovery and learning what we stand for in life and tough situations. The complexity of this experience may vary for different people and is often a harder concept to fully grasp for ourselves but leads to shaping who we are and what differentiates us as human beings. To demonstrate, sexual orientation and gender identification has been a complicated journey for some to overcome. In the movie, Boys Don’t Cry, Brandon Teena struggles with these notions since he is biologically a female but would rather identify as a male. Teena undergoes a self makeover and ultimately changes her name into Brandon Teena from Teena Brandon. Although there are a variety of factors that attribute to his decision, including living in a small town with virtually nothing to do and no room for growth as well as having a carefree attitude full of law breaking and making poor choices, he ultimately just identifies as a male and is interested in women. In the film Brandon meets a woman, Lana, he begins to feel attracted to and who he deceives until one day he is discovered after he has been arrested and is put into the women’s jail raising many questions. Eventually he is discovered and is then raped and killed with no remorse by two male characters that envied Teena for his relationship with Lana. In psychology the development of gender is often looked at as a controversial topic mainly because of its complexity. It is evident in Teenas...

Brandons Essay

...Narrative essay 11/16/11 My brother and his wife Steff wanted to hike up Mud Mountain as a family because they had wanted to go hiking for a while, so they decided to make a trip. Knowing that it would most likely be a rather interesting trip I asked if I could partake. Most of the fun parts of a hike are the random events that transpire along the way so I expected a rather enjoyable trip. After two hours of driving and various stops, we had finally arrived at Mud Mountain. We started to gear up for our four mile trek, but Chris had decided he needed to use the restroom For some odd reason he decided not to knock on the bathroom door. With such great insight he just barged in, and with a bad stroke of luck there happened to be a little boy in there. I would say Chris got half way in before the boy ran out, God only knows what that poor child was thinking. The boy’s parents gave Chris such an awkward child molester look that I still see as very funny. He doesn’t. Within a few minutes, we had started trekking up the mountain path. Eventually while we were walking Chris decided to run up the sides of the trail to leave me and Steff behind. Perceiving it as a challenge I decided to chase after him. So after leaving Steff behind she was starting to get angry and a little self-conscious about the occasional person walking by because she was alone. Meanwhile after Steff caught up they started to bicker at one another, feeling endangered from this conversation that if I said...

...In the year 2020 I believe phone calls will be made using implanted microchips and holograms. Everyone will have a microchip implanted somewhere in their bodies which emits a signal through your nerves and brain waves that also show a hologram of the person you are talking to. There would no longer be a need to keep up with your cellular device or the chance of it being stolen. It would also cut down on the cost to make a cell phone with all the gadgets and gizmos and just create a smaller chip. In the year 2050 I think whole meals will be condensed into a pill or powdered form eliminating stoves, ovens, refrigerators, and microwaves lessening the amount of time it takes for consumption so that even if you’re a busy family it would only take a matter of seconds for your family to come together and consume a whole meal. In 2025 homework will be done with a simple thought linking your brainwaves to the assignment. Your thoughts would be noted into the schools or classes you’ve given your permission to databases giving accurate and direct concepts. Before you enter your thoughts you can set up your format the way you want in essay form or simple 1,2,3 answer form with double spacing, indents etc. In 2125 there will be no need to leave your home because the teacher and classroom will be like a dream sequence. The Usa Patriot Act--Good or Evil?

...THE USA PATRIOT ACT--GOOD OR EVIL? Abstract Terrorism has been around in one form or another since long before September 11th 2001. It is our extreme reaction to the real threat of a terrorist attack began 9/11/2001. Although the odds of dying from a terrorist attack in America are extremely remote, after the attacks of 9/11/2001 and the overwhelming show of concern by American citizens, Congress hastily put together a bill outlining the workings of the U.S. Patriot Act. The United States Patriot Act of 2001 was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2001. President Barack Obama signed the Patriot Sunsets Extension Act of 2011, which created a 4 year extension of 3 key parts of the Patriot Act. Warrantless searches of business records, roving wiretaps, & conducting surveillance of individuals suspected of terrorist-related activities not linked to any specific organized terrorist groups. The Patriot Act dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies' ability to search all records, documents, histories, etc., without the restraints of the normal operations of judicial law which most citizens assume will always protect them. The National and State Governments and their agencies work together to implement the Patriot Act with as minimal an “obvious” intrusion as possible into ours, the American citizens lives. It is obvious the security must be there, but with a minimal amount of perceived disruption to constitutionally given freedoms and rights. US...

Brandon Case Study

...about the medical care of her child Brandon since he has an Autistic Disorder, and she also has other children in the household that she needed to care for as well. According to the story, it does not seem like she has a lot of other extended family support to help her. Her husband does not seem to be around as much because he travels often for his job. If I were the nurse for his case, I would implement a social worker to help figure out how to care for the other children so that she can focus her care for Brandon. Although my main focus is on my patient, Brandon, it is important to implement his mother into his care. In order for her to focus on my patient, she needs help to figure out her other problems. 2. I would ask another nurse to help me with the specific gravity on the urine for one client. Between Brandon and the burn patient, I would probably pre-medicate the burn patient first since he is scheduled for a whirlpool treatment. That way, I can spend more time with Brandon with the help of his mother to wrap and sling his forearm. 3. Autistic Disorder is characterized by a withdrawal of the child into the self and into a fantasy world of his or her own creation. The child has markedly abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication ad a markedly restricted repertoire of activity and interests. Activities and interests may be considered somewhat bizarre. According to this definition, Brandon does have the behaviors to meet this...

The Crow: Film Analysis

...Analysis by: Pravin Deva Film: The Crow (1994) Director: Alex Proyas The Crow Analysis The film, The Crow, is a magnificent film that portrays an unhappy spirit who is on a vendetta to find and kill the criminals responsible for his and his fiancée, Shelly played by Sofia Shinas, death of Hollows Eve. The film takes place in city that is at a dismal state and one that is vulnerable to heinous crimes, such as the murder of Eric and Shelly. Murder is a big part of the film and is something that the director, Alex Proyas, wants to portray throughout the movie. I believe that Proyas wanted to show murder is a big issue in our society and that no one is safe, even people who are loving and harmless as Eric and Shelly were. When Eric says “Victims aren’t we all” right before he stabs Tin-Tin, explains how no one is safe from murder, whether you the good guy or the bad guy, it is almost a given. This film was filled with many symbols but the one that stood out the most was the crow. I believe that the crow symbolizes life’s mysteries; such as something which we cannot simply explain happens, we may just say that it was part of God’s plan or it was simply a twist of faith. Whatever the case may be, the crow was the reason Eric was resurrected and given a chance to get back those who ended his and Shelly’s lives. Not only does the crow show destiny but it also portrays life. For example when Eric was resurrected, he was virtually indestructible and nothing could...

Remember why you came and while you’re alive, experience the warmth before you grow old.” Not only do these few versus hit vital points pertaining to my personality, it also serves as an element to which I have the ability to zone out and be in my own world. For instance, after hearing this song after a stressful day of Chili’s work at approximately 4:38, I suddenly felt a sign of relief as I jammed out while my IPOD was on repeat for 3 intervals of 4 minutes and 25 seconds. From the beginning of this bands career first CD named Fungus Amongus, I would like to say it makes me feel most nostalgic than any other band. Brandon King The American Dream

...The idea of the American Dream has been with us as long as we have been a nation. In Brandon Kings “The American Dream: Dead, Alive, Or On Hold?” he presents us with his version of the American dream. According to King the American dream is defined as “The potential to work for an honest, secure way of life and save for the future” (611). The American dream may differ between every individual and how they perceive it. To some, the American dream is to have a decent job and to be financially successful. However, to others, having a job is defined as just living each passing month. The American dream basically means opportunity. That opportunity is seen as the ability to make an impact in life through hard work and dedication. To me, the American...

Brandon Argumentative Essay: Street Photography

...Picture perfect! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and as a professional photographer our whole exitance is to capture the beauty of an image. And while I appreciate, Brandon Stanton vision I strongly disagree with his excessive use of sentiment to attract his audience. At his best his images are ‘street photography’. And his capture is fetishized. Author, Photograph, Blogger- Brandon Stanton started this journey with the attempt to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers. He took his success to Facebook posting, pictures of men, women, and children with sentimental caption’s he clams this inspired him to start adding quotes which led to full interviews to all his social media images. And well he has had a (New York Times) best seller in 2013 it still leaves one to wonder how something that is perceived so positive can still leave one so unsatisfied. Going to Google to view the site I type in humansofnewyork instagram page and choose http://www.instagram.com/humanofny. Brandon King Wealth Inequality Analysis

...My position on wealth inequality is similar to Brandon King's in the sense that I do not believe raising taxes on the upper-class is the solution, since by raising taxes on the rich results in them being less likely to spend money and, therefore, cannot help the economy. King asserts this notion by stating, "money that goes to businesses helps drive the economy, and raising taxes on the rich would be counterproductive." More importantly, I agree with King's sentiment that the upper class should not be scrutinized for their well being, but instead aided in further growth in order to fix the economy. Assisting the upper class by giving them more assistance in their business has the potential to further stimulate the economy and it's growth, as...
